The deer have eaten most of the veggies I planted with my starts from the students at school, as I reckoned they would. Figured flowers on the porch would be nice. I got 3 orange and pink flowers called 'persimmon,' and then, 2 pink flowers and 1 yellow flower. I put five of the flowers in two boxes and one in a hanging basket. Expensive hobby, but I enjoy watching stuff grow.

She called back later, had some overall planting recommendations, said she didn't actually do landscaping design. Guy named Ben came out to the cottage in June, said he would get back to us with recommendations, sketches, costs etc. Never heard back from him. My wife texted him back... Nothing from Ben. We went back to Pine Hill in July, talked to another guy, Ralph? I asked who we should really talk to if we were to have any chance of Pine Hill actually following up. He said he was the owner, of course he would follow up. In fact his brother (Paul?) would follow up with a phone call. Crickets. It has been weeks. Pine Hill has always come highly recommended in the area. And yes, folks up here are on "lake time" so things do tend to take awhile. But the runaround and total lack of movement from these guys has been amazing to behold. They don't call back/text/ any kind of follow-up communications that they say they will do. Their facilities are nice, we've bought plants there a number of times, even had lunch at their lunch counter a few times. But I'm sorry, if you need someone to actually do some work? Go elsewhere.

It's your one stop shop of everything you could possibly want and is just so delightful! I wish I lived in the Grand Traverse County area because I would be coming here all the time for all my plant and gardening needs. Alas, I snagged a house plant or two here with my friend to fill her shop and you can just tell that they take good care of their plants here. I stopped by the nursery because my beloved dog passed away and I wanted to plant a tree in his honor. What I didn't expect was to get the most compassionate and honest costumer service that I have ever experienced. I went in with an idea in my head but really needed some help picking the right one that would do the best. I just knew I wanted something that would stand out and last for a long time. The owner came to help me right away and asked me what I was looking for and when I told him why I was getting the tree he immediately stopped and offered me his condolences, his understanding, and more kindness than I could have expected. *He offered me a flower and I began to cry, he told me that I could just walk behind him as we looked so that I could cry and still feel comfortable- that's beyond customer service, that is a truly kind soul. * We took our time looking at the options and he gave me honest recommendations. Finally we found the perfect one- a white pine tree that was not even a fraction of the cost of the one I had originally thought I wanted. He could have easily just sold me on the expensive one I had in mind originally but he didn't. He cared more about me, the tree, and my experience than he did about making the sale. I wish I could express how much that experience means to me. It gave me so much comfort and I left feeling so grateful for the warmness they shared so generously with me, a stranger, and left with one of the first smiles I had in days. I met the other owner briefly as I checked out and felt the love just pouring from her too. I couldn't recommend them more. The experience you get from a local owned business is unmatched in its humanity. I promise, you will never want to buy from anywhere else again. Lastly, I want to say thank you to the owners who took time out of their day to lift up a stranger who had no idea how much she needed it. I appreciate you with all my heart. Thank you.
