Despite the small sized store there is actually is a good selection of wines, this place somehow manages to hold a lot more than meets the eye. They accept credit card and have popular brands on stock. They also sell liquor and are open on Sundays. Overall? If you live in the Western end of RB then go here. They prices are fair-although slightly more than Wine Warehouse on 114th but the convenience is worth it.

He was only buying one drink. The man did not notice due to his state, so I spoke up and said excuse me I think you owe him a 10 and a one not 2 singles. I was told to mind my own effing business!!! It was weird because the next day I went to a distributor in Greenpoint and ordered a 1/4 keg of Modelo within 5 minutes. It gets better-- Guy said he'd call me back with the few kegs he could do...and he never called. So, in review: Overpriced cases of beer, zero knowledge of the industry, and awful customer service.

I had a simply wonderful experience in this store! The person who greeted me (maybe the proprietor, dunno) was maximally helpful in suggesting reasonably-priced wines that could stand up to Whit's "cuisine." I was in and out in about three minutes, which is exactly what the context called for. This being said, I was totally amazed to find a wine store of this quality on a peninsula where most wine is sold in mom-and-pop liquor stores that specialize in hard liquor and stock a few wine bottles with cute animals on the labels only for the occasional misguided soul who hasn't yet converted to Buffalo Trace. The Rockaway Park Liquor & Wine Warehouse about 1.5 miles away is a serious competitor to Ship to Shore, but the Warehouse has more labels with cute animals than I could tolerate and also had long lines for the cash registers when I visited. I much prefer the Ship to Shore Wine Shop!

St. Rippers Day included a slew of bands across its seven hours in a FREE event. I enjoyed the new wave-influenced dysfunctional relationship sagas from FirstSex and great 70s-type garage punk from a trio whose name I can't figure out (but will update to give the proper credit). I have no formal music training so I can't necessarily vouch for my genre descriptions, but I can thank Rippers for helping create a distinct sense of place in its regular operations as well as this festive annual event.
