Unreliable. Sail at your own risk! Harbour Cruises of Vancouver completely failed to deliver on the promise of their Indian Arm cruise. They claimed smoke in the engine room and limped back to port before we even turned into the Arm. Other reviews have reported unexplained itinerary changes that eliminated the main part of the trip. One has to wonder if they don't go up the Arm simply to save money when it's not fully booked or if their boats are that unreliable. While I understand mechanical issues, their compensation policy was completely inadequate. They offered a free drink on board and a coupon for 15% off a future cruise. Anyone booking on the internet can get a 20% discount off any cruise! After much back and forth they finally offered a 20% refund. The final price after this discount was approximately double the price of a narrated harbor tour. We received an un-narrated tour of the container port instead of a tour of the natural environment, which is what we were promised. We feel cheated by Harbour Cruises of Vancouver. Great experience with Harbour Cruises, we booked a 60 min afternoon boat ride for my 2 young children, husband and myself. It was very family friendly, the staff on board were so kind and informative with the tour and just talking to us personally while out on the water. Extremely unhelpful staff! We booked a harbor cruise via a third party. We hit traffic due to a car accident and thus, despite leaving with plenty of time, ended up getting to the dock right on time. Apparently, right on time is too late to board, despite extenuating circumstances. The staff gave me a deadpan response and offered zero help. "You booked through a third party, you'll have to contact them." That was it. After telling them why we were ON TIME (not late), they offered no suggestions and seemed inconvenienced by me. Absolutely abysmal customer service. I called the third party I booked through and they were much more helpful, but the rep I was speaking to divulged that the staff at Harbor Cruises was rude to them as well. They had to fight to get our tickets moved to a later tour. One of the worst customer service experiences of my life. The employees were dismissive jerks. read more

As we only had a few days to explore a bit of Vancouver before our flight home after an Alaskan cruise we wanted to do some relaxing sightseeing. The Sunset Dinner Cruise was a terrific choice. We had a reserved table with a terrific view of the skyline as the sun went down and the city lit up. There was a ton of food to eat. Served up buffet style everything was hot and tasty. Beef, salmon, pasta, potatoes, salads, etc. I went back for seconds and thirds! We ordered a bottle of nice red wine which was affordably priced. Of course, when they set up the desserts I had a bit of everything. Coffee and tea included. Good music on board, with a crew narrator pointing out the sights and offering some historical tidbits. After dinner we went up top to take it all in on the way back. About a three hour excursion. Honestly, for the ticket cost I thought this was priced well. Would do it again for sure. read more

We had an overall enjoyable evening. We found friendly staff seating us and taking our beverage order. Beverages which are not included in the ticket are reasonably priced. Live music by Tony and Mike added to the evening. Music choice was right for the demographic and comments by Tony were at a minimum--appropriate for folks sharing and chatting with friends. Food was acceptable. Not stellar but it's a buffet catered in. Highlights: salad selection, vegetable lasagna, desserts. Some may criticize, I wouldn't. Cruise was lovely, starting before sunset (7:00 pm, mid Sept) and lasting well after sunset until disembarkation at 9:30. City lights are beautiful. One suggestion (I hope management is following these): turn off the LED rope lights in the cabin after dark so there's no or less reflection on the windows. That reflection makes it impossible to see through the window and enjoy the city lights. Yes, you can go outside, but if chilly that's not ideal for all passengers. That is the biggest negative. Overall a positive experience. Now turn off those lights so we can fully enjoy an evening cruise in Vancouver. read more

OMFG! We were looking for something special to celebrate our wedding anniversary and Harbour Cruises delivered! Booking a sunset dinner cruise online was easy. We also found the ship easily. The ship was roomy and gorgeous! Tables were ready for us and lovely! We went up top for a bit while a delicious dinner buffet was prepared. All of it was fresh and delicious. I stuffed myself so much I'm surprised I didn't roll off the deck. Ha! Service was prompt and courteous. This a well-appointed cruise. We were very comfortable. The view was spectacular! We really lucked out. We went in mid-May when Vancouver was experiencing summer like temperatures. Dinner was served buffet style and we got in line a few tables at a time. Everyone was chill and gracious. There was also a dessert table. We had a wonderful time and will do it again next time we go to Vancouver. I've been on a couple Harbour Cruises this being the only one is Canada and it was pretty much on par with what I expected. The narrator is upbeat but the information is boring we don't need to know who owns what boat maybe just stick to the history of the city and the flora and fauna. There is plenty of seating it's an old boat and could do with some new furniture I think they have the same stuff that came with the boat not very comfortable at all but they sell ya booze to make up for it so bonus there. It was worth the time and money was a great reprieve from all the walking we had done that day. Would love to go on one of their longer tours. read more

While looking for things to do in Vancouver, we stumbled upon a Groupon deal for the Harbour Tour Cruise. It included a one-hour cruise around the harbour for two for $27 CAD. We arrived the day of about an hour before the next cruise to grab our tickets down at the deck. Boarding was quick and easy as we were soon off into the waters. Although the skyline was nice, it was the least appealing one I've seen yet. Not even halfway through, we were already bored and just sitting inside sipping on a couple cans of beer that we purchased onboard. If we didn't have the Groupon, this would not have been worth it at all. It was honestly something to do, but would definitely pass if we could do it again. read more

We were visiting Vancouver for a few days and decided on the 4-hour boat luncheon cruise, which was perfect when you don't have 1-2 days to island hop, but want more than a 1 hour quick tour. After booking: The company was very accommodating of my food allergy, and supplied me with a very detailed menu so I knew what I could and couldn't have way before our trip date. It was really nice to not have to ask 100 questions while on the cruise, I kept the menu PDF handy on my phone :) Day of cruise: The office was easy to find and located right off of a marked parking lot by the Westin hotel. The office staff was very kind and kept our large suitcases in their space while we sailed. We were shown to our reserved table when we boarded and they immediately had coffee & tea service. The boat was a bit older, but they took great care of it and the staff was very attentive. They sail rain or shine (it was raining pretty good on our trip date) so we sat inside the boat for the first hour while we left the harbor, it was very relaxing! They also have a bar so we grabbed drinks before lunch service. We were pleasantly surprised with the lunch! Everything was cooked very well with a lot of flavor. About an hour in, the rain got really light and (being from smoggy Los Angeles) my husband and I stood on the outside deck to just take it all in... I could have looked at the bright green trees all day! The turn-around point is at an incredible waterfall (Silver Falls) and it's kind of insane how close the Captain is able to get the large boat... you could have hopped right off onto land (but don't because there's giant jellyfish in the water that you can see). Because of the rain the waterfall was gushing and it made the entire trip perfect. We stayed out on the deck the entire time back (alone for most of the time, how people could be inside with the scenery I don't know!!). Pro tip: if you didn't over serve yourself at the bar on the cruise... grab a happy hour drink at Lift a few feet from cruise offices... amazing views of the marina (we didn't want to leave). read more

My GF found Harbor Cruises on Groupon. Months in advance of actually beginning our vacation it seemed a perfectly fine way to kill an hour or two in a city we knew not all that much about. And on the day, lo, it was! Our harbor cruise was on the Harbour Princess, a two level vessel with seat on top and a cool upper level wing like thingy that I spent the whole cruise on. SUNSET DINNER CRUISE ($87 - after tax & grat) on THE CONSTITUTION: The Constitution is the red, old-fashioned, paddle wheel boat. It's the one I had hoped to board, and board it, I did! Live entertainment: Check! We had the pleasure of being serenaded by a two-man band (can't remember their name now), who performed a mix of oldies and top 40s all night long. Food: Check! We were asked to take turns (per table) approaching the buffet. The buffet consisted of fresh greens, greek salad, pasta salad, roasted carrots & zucchinis, roasted potatoes, rice pilaf, baked salmon and a sirloin roast (carved for you). It was very Greek. We were only given two slices of beef at first - they explained that there may or may not be enough beef to go around if they gave us any more. Fair enough. We were allowed seconds only after everybody had had a chance to visit the buffet. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, which was a pleasant surprise for us. The dessert table served fresh fruit, chocolate cake, carrot cake and blueberry cheesecake. I'm a huge dessert fan, so I pick and choose my desserts very carefully. Unfortunately, I chose not to partake in any of the cakes that night. But, my dinner companions tell me that the cakes weren't bad. View: DOUBLE CHECK! Of course, I wanted to spend every spare moment on the top deck of this lovely, old boat. I enjoyed standing head-on with the wind as the paddle wheel spun and spun away. I also spent a good chunk of my time admiring the paddle wheel. Simply fascinating! When our cruise ended, we had no complaints at all. Decided to try the 2.5 hr Sunset dinner cruise for my gf's birthday. We couldn't have picked a better day as it was simply gorgeous. The view was exceptional with some tour guide . The calm ride made you feel very comfortable. There was a live band. Seating was good. They served a west coast theme buffet with fresh salmon, roast beef, salad and the works. Dessert was a nice touch. Friendly and attentive staff. The band even sang happy birthday! We both had a very good time and would recommend for others; it's worth it even if you're a Vancouverite as it's something different than a simple restaurant. read more

The cruise started late because the cruise before us ran late, and therefore our cruise ran late also. So tip - leave extra cushion for plans immediately after. The spot is sort of hard to find since it's "501 Denman Street" but it's actually right tucked into the seawall. We had a groupon, and then bought one extra ticket, so really we got a ticket free. My husband thought this was going to be super lame, but we had a freaking great time! I learned so much about Vancouver that I never knew, got to drink beer (Great selection surprisingly) and cruise on a boat in the sun. On a bright sunny weekend, the boat wasn't as busy with tourist as I would expect. Their office is down the ramp on the seawall from Denman Street. A short walk to the left of the office is the line up to the entrances to all their ships. The lunch and dinner cruises are their big attraction. The tourists will flood to those - while the one hour cruise around the Inlet is good enough for some local history. We didn't board on time, which meant we would depart a few minutes later. The Constitution is the ship I was on. It's smaller than the lunch ship, but still cute and spacious. TIPS: Once you board, head to the upper deck for the best view. the upper deck might have the view, but you will miss out on the commentary from below. The engine is loud and the ship will rock more. Head down to the second level for the commentary and comfy seating. There is a small bar for snacks and beverages, but your free to bring your own. The tour goes past Vancouver Convention Centre, Jack Poole Plaza, Canada Place, Port of Vancouver, over to North Vancouver where they stop for a few minutes to check out the seals and their pups (bring you cameras and long lens) past the tankers and over to Stanley Park and back to the home deck. read more

The tradeoff for going to see the Argonauts take on the Lions was my wife and I going on a dinner cruise around Coal Harbor. After checking in at the ticket counter, we were walked onto the ship. The first level had all of our tables, as well as the bar and the night's band (a blues duo who also did some covers). The upper level was where everyone was served. Tonight's dishes were beef sirloin and salmon. We sat and listened to the introductions as the ship cast off. In hindsight, we chose a terrible night to go on a dinner cruise. Almost immediately after the cruise started, it began to lightly rain. So much for a sunset. The cruise itself was nice. Not to rocky, the blues duo played a wide spread of top 40 tracks, and the food was pretty good. You could go back up for seconds with no one saying anything. The ship got close enough for photo opportunities, but with the darkness, rain and our lack of a tripod, there wasn't much we could do. The cruise is a good value for the time and food, just wait for a clear day. read more

Did the 1-hour day cruise back in June after purchasing the Groupon for four people ($75 for all four with no lunch). We boarded on time and loved having the flexibility to walk around the boat to get better views. The views were, of course, fantastic. The boat was clean. The staff was courteous. But, the announcer? I'm sorry, but she was flat out annoying. Not only did she sound robotic but she added inflections to the end of every sentence that she was clearly reading. I don't know if she was new and she just needed more practice, but the four of us all agreed that she made the tour much less enjoyable than it should have been. Although the views were great, we weren't able to learn anything about the city since it was so hard to listen to her. I wouldn't mind trying the sunset cruise one day, but I hope the tour announcer is someone else. read more

My post is a couple of weeks late. We took the Indian Arm Luncheon Cruise on August 14th. I came across this on the web. I was looking for a short cruise, we could enjoy in either Bellingham, WA or Vancouver, BC. This was not expensive and it was going to a place my family has never been. I could show my family where I kayak in Deep Cove and the little islands I went around. The shore doesn't give it justice. I wanted to show my sister where Baltar's house from Battlestar Galactica was. They also used it in Firewall, Elektra, and Blitz. The crew didn't mention it but they mentioned other famous houses on the way. The crew was polite. They were very accommodating when I booked on their site. I had questions on how hard it would be for someone that uses a cane and/or walker. They said if necessary they have wheelchairs available for us to use. The food was wonderful! The salmon was tender and moist. The chicken was delious. The deserts were not dry. My aunt and sister had seconds. read more

The ladies in the office are very nice and very helpful with my visit. They were able to accommodate me and my girlfriend and our friends with the service. Overall: This can be a good way to see the city. Just know what you're going to love and hate about the experience. Best things about the cruise: 1. Seeing Vancouver from the water. Most people don't get this experience 2. Entertainment. The duo (the guy's name was Brett) were excellent. The woman has a beautiful voice and their harmony was wonderful 3. The staff are excellent, friendly and professional Worst things about the cruise: 1. Wine list. Anything that features not one, but two, types of Copper Moon deserves scorn. BC has so many wonderful wineries, and yet Harbour Cruises stocks none of them. You WILL be angry at the wine selection and the liquor manager should be ashamed 2. The food. It's not awful. It's what you'd expect from a buffet of this sort. The catering company leaves a calling card on each table in case passengers want to hire it for another occasion. Indian Arm 4 hour tour for only $75??? SIGN UP NOW! This was a wonderful tour, very informative (unfortunately the bartender was the voice over, so when anyone wanted a drink, the commentary stopped. We wished he could have just focused on the commentary, as it was interesting and fun to hear.) Lunch was much tastier than expected for a buffet on a boat! The chicken was moist and tasty and everything tasted very fresh. The turnaround is at the falls, which were roaring due to the rain the day before. Just fantastic. We loved the Indian Arm cruise, including lunch. To begin with parking is easy, they have a large lot on Denman, below Georgia cost is $15 for the day. Vessel is comfortable & you have preassigned lunch tables. If possible (when booking) ask for upper deck for lunch seating, but both are excellent. Buffet Lunch was plentiful & fresh sockeye salmon plus chicken, salad & rice. Desserts were very nice. The cruise lasts from 11-3 & the scenery is outstanding up a fiord to Shannon Falls & captain noses the boat very, very close to the falls. Also saw eagle & beautiful remote areas. Called the office the day before to reserve seven tickets (Two families, one from Victoria Island) for the 11am Sunday harbour cruise. Woman said: "No need to reserve, we never sell out of tickets." I then coordinated ferry schedules, and called Harbour Cruises back to secure spot for the 11am sailing. The same woman answered the phone, confirmed my reservation and suggested to arrive in 20-30 min ahead of time. We arrived at 10:40am, and sure enough, the sailing was sold out and there was no reservation for my party! I was absolutely livid with the woman who took my call and 'pretended' to take my reservation and didn't actually do it! They began to suggest i possibly called another cruise line--until i showed them my cell phone, with their correct number, date stamp and time! None the less, they couldn't accommodate us at 11am and offered a space on the next sailing at 12:15. My ferry was reserved and paid, so i had to decline. These people ruined our entire sunday and trip for the family. Should i have known they have lazy staff who cut corners, I coudve made other arrangements and not wasted our time. Clearly that woman doesn't care about the customers and is depressed to work on a Saturday afternoon. She was probably busy texting or making personal calls and couldn't be bothered to take my phone call and complete my reservation. Do not use these people!!! If you do book, ask who you are speaking to, and write her name down!! A note to the woman who ruined our Vancouver trip: "If you're miserable with your work, then QUIT!" read more
