I am really enjoying tennis as a newbie so I was looking to upgrade from my Walmart racket. Eric was so patient, knowledgeable, and most importantly, honest. He offered two rackets and recommended I go with the cheaper one that was 50% of the other one given similar quality and only difference was that one was used (looked to be in good condition). My tennis stringing source! I hate Sports Authority. Going there, having to wait for the "stringer" to come in. You could wait days to have a racket strung, and good luck on getting some good advice as to what strings to get and at what tension. Eric and his brother run this little Mom and Pop (Bro and Bro) shop and they run it well. I wouldn't recommend the store for buying rackets, clothes, or shoes as selection is limited, but when it comes to strings, they are unbeatable. They have both strung for pros and they can churn out a string job in no time flat. I've come in and told them I needed it in an hour, and most times, they could pull it off. If not an hour, two max! How's that for service? Also, since I started playing tennis again, I haven't had my racket strung anywhere else, but it seems very reasonable. I'm getting expensive strings (poly-gut) and the labor for $40. read more

I was looking for a place to get my racket restrung and for consultation on the purchase of new rackets. I have been looking for months and was overwhelmed with all the options in the market. I basically chose this place because my online search revealed that they offered same day turnaround racket stringing service as well as consultation. Of course, as advertised, I got a racket restrung after only a few hours. After sharing what I was looking for, details about my game and the things I have liked/disliked in previous rackets, I was recommended several rackets and I fell in love with one of them (Head Radical MP). Then, I received a great recommendation on the proper strings for me and these rackets and I am VERY happy with my new tools. Basically, I received exactly what I came there for and more (was matched with a good hitting partner from the "Hardcore Family". This great service and consultation easily took months of time and trial and error off my search and the price was basically the same as what I could have received on line. After suffering for months with tennis elbow, I finally talked to my coach and teammates to find out how to fix it. They all recommended I consult Eric at Hardcore Tennis to discuss a new racquet. I called Eric to let him know what the issue is and he took the time to contact my coach to learn of my playing style in order to recommend the perfect racquet and stringing for me. I was worried about making it to his shop from my office in Buckhead, but he said it would be very easy and economical to just ship it to my home. I ordered it Thursday and received it Saturday, fully strung and ready to play (and at a fantastic price, I should add!). After using it one time I've noticed a difference right away in the shock absorption and I am achieving more distance and power, which is a bonus since I thought I might have to sacrifice that for my elbow. Asked for a racquet to demo, was never ordered. Asked to get a racquet to buy for a Christmas present. Never got a phone call. Went to see if the racquet came in the thursday before christmas they told me to come in Friday evening. Went during their normal business hours on friday and they were closed. Now scrambling for another present. Would have been happy if they had just told me that they could not get the order. The customer service at Hardcore Tennis is unbeatable. When I first started playing tennis I went to a big chain sports store to pick up a racquet. The staff member told me it didn't matter which one I picked because they were all the same. After a few months of playing I noticed that my hand and arm started to ache terribly whenever I played. One of the tennis pros suggested that my racquet was probably the problem. I didn't want to go to another big box store so my team mate suggested Hardcore Tennis. Eric not only explained the "science" of a racquet, but he also informed me about the importance of the strings. I wasn't quite ready to invest in another racquet, so Eric restrung my racquent and gave me a new grip. I immediately felt a difference. The pain in my arm quickly subsided. When I finally was ready to make my investment, my new racquet was ready in no time. He even instinctively knew to order me a smaller grip size, which definitely improved the hand fatigue that you normally feel after long matches. I have also gotten a couple of pair of tennis shoes from there. They carry high quality shoes that can take a beating if you play a lot. A lot of the shoes that large stores carry seem to be more for looks than function. I haven't gone wrong with the shoes that I have purchased from Hardcore. I'm a big fan of Hardcore Tennis. I had specific needs which the clerks at some other large chain stores could not help me with.
