Eric not only explained the "science" of a racquet, but he also informed me about the importance of the strings.

I love the events such as wine tasting - I think it was over 60 wines; the in-depth Pilates events, they recently updated the gym equipment, the coaches are great with fabulous playlist and there are a lot of community focused events. It's a really big tennis facility so if you're in to racket sports, this is the place for you. I still have my LT membership and that being said the locker rooms need an update. Integrating to a system that allows me to schedule tennis, massages etc as well as scan into the club would make things more convenient. I don't have traditional car keys so having to carry a single tiny card with me can be a bit frustrating. They are contract based - 1 year minimum but there is definitely value if you live or work in the area.

Joe is disgraceful that teaches the kids tennis. So inappropriate and unprofessional with female members. Stay away! He has done horrible things.

Sandra's review is factual and was pointed out many times by many members who have as much right to enjoy a peaceful space as anyone. However when she requested to see the end of year books as its a member funded club she was denied them and attacked and bullied. Pathetic behavior. This used to be a lovely quiet pool enjoyed by everyone. It definitely had problems everyone would agree, broken glass, kids running, all rules posted on the wall but none followed. Drinking beer and eating in the pool on large floats. Loud music. Its very sad that people behave this way, or that parents allow their children to behave this way. Judging by the remarks of the manager or chairperson its really a low bar he has set for himself so probably not so surprising. I have happily attended many events here over the years and used the pool for 15 years but decided to change memberships as a result of this type of treatment of members. I'm waiting for the review when he calls me a liar :) He doesn't like facts.

Its really sad how this club has deteriorated in the last few years especially the last ten. Screaming kids, eating in the pool, floats the size of mini coopers, ball throwing hitting older members etc. Its pretty low when the committee refuse to provide financials to paid members for over 15 years stating that we can always join another club if not happy. A lot of negative things have happened in the last few years in our neighborhood sadly the pool is just another.

This is my "home" tennis center. I've played several seasons of league tennis here and been coached…read moreby a few of the pros. First, the location can't be beat. I have yet to find another tennis center that is as convenient to my team as BGTC is. Since it's right off of 75, it's really easy to get to and also easy for opponents to find. They have both hard and clay courts. I have played at a LOT of tennis facilities around Atlanta, and the only other clay courts I've seen are at private clubs. The clay courts are slightly more expensive than hard courts, but the cost may be worth it if you're trying to take it easy on your joints. The clay courts are up top, while the hard courts are down at the bottom of a hill, but luckily there is parking convenient to both sets of courts. You can usually call a day or two in advance and get a court reservation, but just a tip: if you're playing a "match" it's cheaper than playing by the hour. The rates at these courts are reasonable compared to other courts you pay for....not saying they are reasonable in general, but you're not getting ripped off. Since I play mostly on hard courts, most of my comments are about that area of the facility. They seem to do decent job of keeping up the courts, although for the past year or two they've been having issues with one or two of the lights being out. It wasn't un-playable, but if you were assigned one or two of the not-as-well-lit courts, it definitely made it more difficult to play. Also, there are no restrooms nearby the hard courts; you have to walk up the stairs and around the clay courts to get to the clubhouse. Having restrooms near the hard courts would be a serious improvement; particularly since my opponents always want to use the restroom between warm-up and playing, or between sets. A trip could take 15 minutes. As for team play - I have captained probably 10 seasons of teams out of BGTC. The manager, Amy, does a great job of keeping captains informed and is hands down the most organized manager I've dealt with. I love that she is available by e-mail and keeps my credit card on file so I don't have to take the extra step of coming in the club house to pay. It's also nice they let me pay for team matches and coaching week-by-week so that I don't get charged if there's a rain-out. She also does a great job of rotating teams through the "good" courts for matches (the ones right next to the bleachers). They event have a twitter account to update you on rain-outs. I know not everyone uses twitter, but I appreciate that they are proactive about getting info out there (versus me having to call every 15 minutes for an update). One other thing - they could really improve their round robins and probably get a great group going if they included food and beer in the price. The DTC round robin always has a wait list, it would be great for those wait-listers to have another option.

Agape raised their rates 25% with no notice on the website or via email. They decreased their staff…read moreand stopped maintaining their clay courts. They sent me five invoices for the season from three different people and, you guessed it, FIVE different amounts. The cheapest and most expensive hundreds of dollars apart. Then mid season our coach says there is a new rule that you can not have more than eight players attend a practice on one court or you have to pay for a second one. If a second one is not available only eight people can practice. It's $140 per week for practice and you want to try and force us to pay more? Agape is hands down the most disorganized, unprofessional tennis management company in Atlanta Don't reward bad service - ban courts run by Agape.

I love the fact that there are always happy healthy people jogging around with their loved ones, friends, or pups. It is just a really good energy to encounter and intriguing that, in the middle of Buckhead, this beautiful park is tucked away and you would never know how close you are to the traffic and fumes. The "Tennis Center" itself is sort of old and funny-looking (you'll be like, "Is this where I am supposed to go to meet my opponent?!?"), but they are in the works to build a 4000 square foot semi-underground building. The positioning of it will help to conserve energy for them. Also, if you are in the market for lessons, they have pro's there that you could book through the pro shop. Because their pro shop is (currently) really tiny, they don't have a store to purchase items (I would put money on it that they will have a store that is jam-packed with your tennis apparel after their construction of the new facility is complete). One last cool story- Last time I was playing there, I saw Andre 3000 of Outkast walking by my court (evidently, per him, he lives close to there and (I am guessing) he is health concious too?). So, I ran off the court and got his autograph on a tennis ball!!! You would never believe it, but (per him) it was his first tennis ball ever signed! Haha! I was ecstatic and offered for him to come play tennis as I have extra racquets, though he politely declined. Happy tennis playing! Have a blast and good luck!

A tennis pro was very loud and abusive on another court…read more Saturday around 9am the landscaping crew decided to mow the lawn, edge the grass, etc... unfortunately, about 45 mins of very loud and dusty air on probably the busiest time of the week. When suggested a better time, let's say during the week less busy court time, the so called pro, same one mentioned above, was very abrupt and rude. Do not recommend PAYING for a public court with such rudeness and threatening staff.
