Windy Hill is very convenient for me to get a workout in between meetings or during lunch time. This gym is all about community, the members are so welcoming and nice. I love the events such as wine tasting - I think it was over 60 wines; the in-depth Pilates events, they recently updated the gym equipment, the coaches are great with fabulous playlist and there are a lot of community focused events. It's a really big tennis facility so if you're in to racket sports, this is the place for you. I still have my LT membership and that being said the locker rooms need an update. Integrating to a system that allows me to schedule tennis, massages etc as well as scan into the club would make things more convenient. I don't have traditional car keys so having to carry a single tiny card with me can be a bit frustrating. They are contract based - 1 year minimum but there is definitely value if you live or work in the area. read more

Was in town visiting from the Chicago signature Midtown AC. I guess I'm a little to use to the Chicago club, but this location seemed extremely dated, equipment for working out was all over the place requiring you to search different rooms for equipment, and lacked a lot of equipment I was use to. We've been members at Windy Hill Athletic Club for about seven years and have seen the club go through its ups and downs, especially before and after COVID. While we've noticed some welcome improvements recently, there are still a few areas that could use more attention. After COVID, the overall maintenance of the club noticeably declined. It's encouraging, though, to see positive changes lately -- the towels are finally looking bright and white again (instead of gray), and the wipes and towels in the workout area are being replenished regularly. Those small improvements really make a difference. We didn't get to enjoy the outdoor pool much this past summer, partly due to all the rain, but also because the pool maintenance wasn't at its best. Leaves and dead bugs often collected in the water, which made it less inviting. Hopefully, that's something that can be improved before next season. One thing that has remained consistently great over the years is the front desk staff. They're always friendly, welcoming, and make it a pleasure to visit the club -- their attitude really sets a positive tone for members. Overall, Windy Hill has come a long way, and we appreciate the efforts to bring it back to the standard it once had. With continued attention to cleanliness and facility upkeep, it could easily be one of the best clubs in the area again. MRS says: I'm actually no longer a member but still come in as a guest. **Update** The general manager of the club reached out to me (different from the manager/rep I dealt with on Halloween) and did a great job of smoothing things over and addressing the situation. This doesn't change how I view the pricing of the memberships, but I can say that leadership-wise I think the club is in good hands. Updating the stars from 1 to 2. Pretty good club but still expensive and difficult to cancel. I wouldn't say buyer beware, but buyer be mindful. **** This gym tricks you so that it's really hard to cancel. First: they lock you in for at least a year. Why do that when Lifetime doesn't? To keep you trapped. If it was a good gym, they wouldn't have to do that. Second: even after your first year, you "have to cancel before the 25th of the month." Or else they charge you anyway. Which of course people aren't very aware of until they try to close, like I did. Read the bottom for my experience on closing my account. Third: they don't allow you to cancel in person. They make you go through forms online and then you have to wait a couple days to hear from corporate who will decide your fate. When I tried to cancel on Halloween, the gym manager hounded me and made a scene by loudly saying (at the desk) that I couldn't actually wanna leave and that they love me there (none of them knew my name.) When I explained that Windy Hill athletic club tried to increase my dues from $179 to $199 in November (my dues were $159 in 2022!) and that I could go to Lifetime for $169, he tried arguing that I'd be paying that much in the extra drive. -_- Lifetime Sandy Springs is 15 mins away. Go there instead! Most important point: he mentioned that I need to cancel before the 25th, and I said wait but if I submit now, can't the charge just be reversed? And he said yes it can be reversed just make sure the time stamp is in October. See the screenshots for their response! Windy Hill Athletic Club is a mediocre gym that charges over $200 a month to newcomers. They lock you in for a year minimum and then make you jump through hoops to cancel. You get what you pay for. Membership is pricey but well worth it. My family spends 6days a week here. So many things that each person can do. Staff are super friendly. Private swim lessons with Mackenzie has been the best part of this club. I definitely suggest this gym/club to everyone that needs a place to relax and work on mental wellness. read more

When I moved back to Atlanta from San Francisco, I was afraid I wouldn't find a great upscale gym like Equinox in this city. After testing out a few gyms the first few weeks here, I was happy to have found Windy Hill Athletic Club and I'm happy to say I'm hitting my 2 year anniversary at this gym and have no intention in looking for another gym! The gym is huge and I never feel like it gets really crowded. The members are all nice and respectful and I've actually made a few friends while being a member. Also, it's great to be part of a gym community where you don't dress up in your latest lululemon to look cute or wear makeup or call everyone bro and spend more time taking Instagram photos at this gym...everyone here is focused on working out. Also the trainers are really nice and it's nice to see not only do they train but also teach the fitness classes...which helps build on the community. The equipment is great...I typically use only free weights in my workout as well as CrossFit type workouts and lifts and this gym has more than enough equipment and space for my needs. Also they recently upgraded their cardio equipment and soooo happy they have woodway treadmills which I love since I use often as a former Barrys Bootcamp trainer. I've only taken a few classes and they seem to be good. The pool is fantastic...which we're using until we get our pool at our house. Theres an indoor track but also there's a great outdoor path to run if you want to go for a jog. Surprise perks that I haven't had a chance to use are the outdoor rock climbing wall, the out door area with pull-up rig and barbells and the tennis facilities. If you like tennis and basketball, this is the place to go! Cafe, kids club and internet is also available which is nice if you need to get some work done while working out. The sales team were nice and not pushy and shout out to the front desk staff...y'all are amazing! read more

I am glad I joined Windy Hill Athletic Club. My partner and his family were members for decades. We have a fully equipped gym in our house so to pay $165/month when I don't have the need to says A LOT. The gym is nice, I was told there would be renovations coming in 2023 so I'm excited to see changes. The gym is dated for my taste but I value the great customer service from the people at the front desk, the amenities, the delicious reasonably priced food at the cafe, and the 8 minute drive from my house. They sell alcoholic beverages at the cafe FYI! LOVE THAT! I do wish they would offer classes every hour of the day. They only offer classes most days from 6am-12pm & 5:00pm-8:00pm. It's cut very short on SUNDAY. Each class is only offered ONCE a day, at whatever hour, it is rotated daily. I really enjoy the classes Jeremiah & Miraya teach. Their energy & personality is unmatched. I've enjoyed other instructors as well, I've had a great experience & workout with every class except the BagsXBody. I will need to try it with another instructor. The ENTIRE gym & Women's locker room/ area is well maintained, always clean , & fully stocked with towels. There's a wet sauna, dry sauna, and jacuzzi inside the women's locker room! I don't like the shampoo and conditioner they provide in the women's showers, It dries my hair so I'd recommend to bring your own. (Personal preference). The water from the fountain taste like chlorine bring your own gallon of water. I enjoyed swimming classes with Justin! He's wonderful. They have a machine that dries your bathing suits!! I cannot wait to enjoy the outdoor pool & other amenities when it's warmer outside. I forgot to mention how awesome Allison at the barre classes, Lauren B, & Sonny are! Sonny is a killer teacher! The ONLY good thing about this club is the people who work there. The facility is marketed as being like a resort; and that would have been true in the 80's, late 90's at best. The upstairs area is super cool but dated and there isn't much equipment available. The weight room is sub-par for a premium gym. This would be a nice gym in a high school at best. The facilities... I can only speak to the men's locker room. It is hideous and disgusting, and... dated. The carpet would have looked ugly in the 80's or 90's when it was likely put in. It's brown, but you cannot miss the stains that cover almost all of it. You do not want to walk in this locker room in bare feet. The lockers are ugly as well. But there is an "executive" locker room that you can pay for another locker room, that's marginally cleaner. The real gem is the toilet/urinal, hot tub sauna area... It smells like straight up ass. ALWAYS. And the tile that's matching from floor to ceiling, like the rest of the place, probably okay looking in the 80's or 90's, but it's never been touched since. Dingy is being polite. The straw that broke the camel's back from me in cancelling my membership is that for the past roughly 90 days, there have been towels stuffed into the corners of the toilet/urinal area, where apparently the walls leak???? I dunno, but the towels are f'ing brown, and they STINK. MONTHS they been there. I'm a military guy and have been to some foul places and I've seen cleaner urinal/toilet areas in 3rd world country's police stations. The hot tubs... I've only gotten into them a total of three times, because the water level is too low and the hot tubs themselves are shallow. It's not exactly "hot", warm is a better description. And now that it's empty, for big surprise here... another repair, it's DISGUSTING. The damn hot tub is f'ing brown, and it looked like people bathed in it, and the silt from their funk settled at the bottom of the hot tub and the seats. F'ing foul. The sauna's... what a joke. The steam sauna barely works, and when it does, like everything else, it's marginal. The dry sauna, you should try and get a sweat going before you go in there. You'll sweat, but it'll take a while. Then my final complaint... For the past 4 months there's been a creepy, scrawny dude that sits in one of the two lounge chairs around the hot tub in the men's room. This dude would just sit there for hours, in nothing but a towel and nothing else, and stare at the men going in and out of the sauna's, hot tub, and to and from the showers. Club management would not do anything about it. When I say he sat there for hours, I mean to say, he didn't come to the gym to work out, he literally just sits and watches all the men in the locker room, naked only covered by a towel. I tend to take about an hour and a half to two hours to workout, he's in that lounge chair when I get there to start my workout, and when I hit the sauna after my workout, he's right there, staring. Not cool at all. Don't even get me started on the class offerings. It used to be fantastic. Now it just sucks. And they're took lazy to even post the schedules on the training area walls, ya gotta go online. And the classes that they do have now, suck. They have a lot of signs around the place to send up the virtue signal that they take cleanliness seriously; but it's ironic gross humor that the facilities themselves are so disgusting. You'd think that the premium that the place charges, that members would also behave in a respectful fashion; but it seems to some people that paying a premium means you can just leave your shit anywhere you want, and someone else will clean up after you. They do, eventually; it takes a while. The parent company who owns Windy Hill spends plenty on marketing; it's the only thing that's "upscale" or resort like pertaining to Windy Hill Athletic. Don't go here if you a guy unless you like a creeper staring at you in the locker room, and you enjoy picking up a fungus or pathogen from the locker room, or if you enjoy a well-equipped weight room, or a good selection of classes. Being military, a "nice" gym was/is a luxury I don't mind paying extra for, I've had my fill of foul and dirty and ugly. This place isn't it. I can't believe that they actually charge more than Lifetime; which is where I am going. Even though I'm little more than a mile from Windy Hill Athletic, it is worth it to drive a few extra miles to get to the Lifetime in Sandy Springs. The two don't even compare. This is a gorgeous facility, and I enjoy working out here. The problem is billing. We had to chase after our salesperson in order for our company discount to be applied (we eventually got this resolved after reaching out several times), and now my husband is trying to redeem a gift certificate I got him for Christmas, to use for personal training, and it's an absolute mess. So far, they haven't been able to accurately apply it, and we're now on our 3rd lesson that should've been a gift, but instead, it's out of pocket. For the amount of money that we pay each month, this level of organization and customer service is incredibly disappointing. Management: Do better! Members: NEVER buy a gift certificate!!! read more

The whoo experience of having a large facility to workout in will get you to join. Until you find out it's a one stop shop with cheap products and terrible class schedules. The personal trainers only had time to train people during the hours of 11-2 which are great for stay at home mom's but not for my wife or myself who have normal jobs. After that we never heard anything back from the trainers, it's literally a joke. If you like Wal-Mart then you will love this gym! Go ahead and join and be stuck in a contract for a year without ever being able to try the gym out before you join. FYI- you do have 7 days to end the contract after you join. Check out Orange Theory, F45 or your local apartment gym, they all are better and more affordable. read more

Post-vaccination, my husband and I were looking for a new gym to motivate us to get back into a routine of working out after a year+ of no gym. We decided that nothing would be a better motivator than a burning hole in our wallets and so far, that theory has proven true! We signed up for a year membership (the minimum; no choice for a shorter contract) and have been consistently going 5-6x a week for a month now. We were told when we first joined at the start of May that membership is at about half of what it used to be pre-pandemic, and that does concern me a bit because what we like most about this gym is how uncrowded it is compared to LA Fitness (our previous gym). Because when it comes down to it... they really don't have more equipment, just more space--the vast majority of which is lost to a massive basketball court. That's the reason I dropped one star. What I love: - Towels EVERYWHERE for members to use/never needing to bring your own. This is such a nice perk. - Dry A steam sauna that is almost always empty - Hot tub is not co-ed, which I love - GREAT staff; everyone is so nice and friendly. Before joining, I was really concerned staff would be pretentious - Reasonable class time offerings: classes after 5 and during the day plus a few in the morning. We always hated it when the one class we'd be interested in at our last gym was only offered at 6am. We aren't those people. - The "no talking on cellphones except in lobby" rule... LOVE IT - A "chill" weight/cardio area without the jarring sound of clinking plates or heavy dropped weights - Rock climbing wall that I am looking forward to trying out - In-house cafe is nice and food is good - It always smells pretty great; no sweaty gym odor - Live houseplants everywhere are SUCH a lovely touch What I don't love: - The selection of weight machines is pretty low, and there are almost no repeat machines, so if someone is doing precisely what you want to do, you gotta wait your turn - Children/youths EVERYWHERE?? Sometimes seemingly unsupervised (or loosely supervised); they are well-behaved, at least... - Although I like the quality and portion sizes of the food, the cafe costs seem a *little* high when I think of how much I'm paying for membership... was kind of hoping for food costs subsidized by our membership somewhat. Very similar experience to some of the other negative reviews about this gym. While the facilities are nice (large basketball court, multiple racquetball courts, big tennis facility, indoor and outdoor pools), the gym is severely lacking in weightlifting/exercise machines. While the membership base has consistently grown, I would say most members are very considerate of others and don't hog machines. This is the same for most of the athletic trainers. However, one trainer consistently runs a 5-10 station circuit during peak hours at the gym inside the very small weight room and half of the turf area. If you're trying to work out during this time, good luck. You'll be waiting 30+ mins for one of these machines. I've complained about this several times and even acknowledged that circuit training can be fun and effective, but this can be done without taking up so many machines at once. I asked that they consider doing for example: Part A with 3 stations, Part B with 3 stations, etc. I'm in the process of cancelling my membership and will look to go back to Lifetime Fitness or heading to LA Fitness, Crunch Fitness, etc... All of these gyms are significantly cheaper than Windy Hill with more space. read more

We joined just a few weeks ago and have been really impressed so far. We opted for the family membership, which includes access to Kidtown, a top-tier kid area staffed by highly competent professionals who ensure your children are safe while you work out. They provide a full two hours each time, which has been a game changer for us. It has the feel of a country club without the stuffiness. Everything is impeccably clean and well-maintained. The café is fantastic, and there's never a shortage of activities; the options seem endless. And the spa is the cherry on top. First of, it's a very nice and appealing gym. I have been a member now for four years. The indoor track is nice and so is the sauna and the steam room. There is quite a variety of activities and tons of group exercises. My disappointment is with the management and the contracts that force a commitments. My situation change a few years ago and I wanted to add someone to my membership and I was told any change will result in another year commitment. So didn't add him, I stayed at $133 per month for single ownership. Fast forward after the pandemic. I get an email a couple of weeks prior to my monthly dues that my dues had increased from $133 to $157 with no additional benefits. This is dishonest in my opinion, I couldn't get out of the contract within the first year, if I had wanted to but the gym seem to reserve the right to change the price? So I go in person to cancel and I am told I have to call someone between 9 and 4 weekdays. Good gym when you use it but they are all about binding people to monthly dues. They shouldn't have to, I would've increased my membership a couple of years ago but the straw that broke the camels back is the ability for them to change the dues unilaterally. Love this club. The experience of coming here feels personal and luxurious. Great classes, beautiful pools, wonderful childcare, and a fabulous locker room, jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna. Little things like the towels being neatly rolled and waiting for you, the good-smelling bath products, and the fireside cafe really make it feel relaxing and calming. The people that work here seem like they enjoy their jobs, and they are unfailingly kind. The celebration days, like Mother's Day, etc, are awesome, fun, and complimentary, with great food and drinks. My daughter still talks about her great swim instructor, "Coach Dan," a year later. When I was first thinking of joining, I wasn't wanting to spend extra money on a "club experience." But the quality difference between here and a standard gym is huge, without the crazy price tag of a full-on country club (which, if you don't play golf, is kind of pointless). I love knowing I can come, drop my kids off in a safe place where they'll have a great time, and I can take a class, sit in the jacuzzi, work in the cafe (complimentary coffee!), you name it. Sometimes I literally just come to sit in the sauna, which is impeccably clean and smells like eucalyptus. As a mom of young kids, this place has been a sanity-saver. Proud to be a member, and looking forward to the day when the world is safe enough for reopening. So grateful that in this season of uncertainty, Windy Hill is putting people before profits. Windy Hill athletic club is the absolute best there is. Yes, it feels expensive at first, but Windy Hill has absolutely everything you could want. From specials online and beer to boxing, cardio, quiet areas, weight areas, track areas, etc. My favorite thing they offer is the steam room and sauna as well as how clean it always is. I've never seen it gross. I also love how it's never felt uncomfortable. People are respectful of your space here and it's always a great place to work out. If you are thinking about visiting or joining make sure to see Mister. He is the absolute best there is. He always meets you where you are and the best part is he doesn't blow up your email and call you a million times! I have been going to this facility for the past 10 years. I would have given it 5 stars but I will save that for later. I have always been a gym rat so comparing Windy Hill to any other gym would do it a disservice. I love the community of Windy Hill. Since joint the club my circle of friends have changed. I've done business with several of them and ultimately they are now part of our family. From the trainers, my favorite has always been Sonny! The first woman to break my male ego in the gym lol. It's like every class has its own community and keep each other accountable. Does it cost.....yes! But how much is your health worth to you? My only and major complaint is the reduced services and the increase of pricing. Once they can balance out the cost with the rising inflation hopefully the price of the executive locker and memberships will drop or the service increased. Can not get them to put a sign in the men's wet area saying you have to shower before getting in the Hot Tube (jacuzzi) when coming out of the sauna and steam room. I have spoke to the manger over a four year period and they have no interest putting a large sign up, and I see over 30% of guys getting in that tube covered in sweet. read more

As someone who values their health above just about anything, the monthly price tag is a drop in the bucket for the luxury and convenience this club provides. The sanitation/cleaning measures are top notch. Unlike the subpar measures at LA Fitness. I like how everything is spread out. The variety of classes more than compensates for ditching my personal trainer. The indoor track will definitely be put to use in the winter months. Not a jacuzzi man, but definitely appreciate the steam room/Sauna. Looking forward to attending the boxing classes. Did I mention how CLEAN this place is? I love this place! My fiancé and I joined a few months ago because we wanted to play more tennis. They have very talented coaches and lots of programs to join. I am really glad we decided to go here. It's also super easy to reserve a court online, and most fees are included with the membership. If you're not into tennis, there's tons of fitness classes and so many amenities. I had never spent much money before on fitness or a gym membership, but I think it's worth every penny. By far, the nicest gym I've ever been to in my life. I enjoy doing all sorts of workouts, so this was like a playground for me. I couldn't concentrate. They have an indoor track and a grass area to do HIIT workouts. They have every equipment imaginable. There were quite a few that I've never even seen before. All their equipment is top of the line. They also have a boxing room, squash courts, cycling room, yoga room, pilates room, etc. You name it! You'll never run out of things to use. They also have rock climbing outside, along with an outdoor pool and outdoor tennis courts. If you want a not so busy gym with top of the line equipment, this is the place for you! read more

First I'll start by saying its a nice gym and has a good environment. It has great amenities which is a plus. The people that work there are very friendly especially the front desk and custodial staff. They're very consistent with keeping the gym clean. But, my problem with the club is the sales department or whoever is in charge of promotions. I never received my promotional offer($100 club credit) of the $200 I gave upfront. Like I said don't expect your promotional offer. Customer service definitely needs some work with finding resolutions to your problems and not just saying "Ill get back to you". I was a member for 5 years while studying in ATL and now when I travel back, every chance I get my first stop is WHAC; this place is extremely clean, accommodating, with state-of-the-art equipment and programs... this list goes on and on. This review is for those intending to join to play tennis on ALTA or USTA teams. Be aware that nonmembers who do not pay dues can play on tennis teams while members sit out. So you are better off trying to join a team as a nonmember rather than paying thousands of dollars in dues. Easily the best gym in the Atlanta area. Fantastic facilities featuring a plethora of different workout areas, a huge tennis facility, a basketball court, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, a cafe, and both indoor and outdoor pools. Perfect for casual gym goers, athletes, retirees, and bodybuilders alike. I genuinely can't say enough about this place and the people who work there. Best part? When I wanted to cancel my membership due to COVID and the likelihood I would move from the area before coming back, there was no Gold's Gym or LA Fitness-style nonsense or runaround. I have been a member of WHAC off and on for a number of years, now. I cancelled my membership, the first time, after about a year and a half...I wasn't dissatisfied; I just thought that I would be using the free gym at my new apartment complex. Unlike other people writing reviews, I had no problem cancelling, *since I had actually read my contract*. I gave my 30 days' notice, and that was it. However - big mistake - I was rarely motivated to use the free gym at the apartment complex. So, I re-joined. There were some good incentives for re-joining, which was nice. I had really missed my personal trainer, who definitely is a motivating force for me to work out on a weekly basis. I also missed the classes - all of the instructors are very encouraging. The club is always clean, and the areas that I go to (Reformer Pilates, The Pit, free weights) are "adults only," so I don't have any issues with kids. I like the social events - those are fun. The equipment is in excellent condition and also very new. read more
