I stopped by Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown and didn't attend a service, but I…read morespent some time reading the outdoor signage and learning about its historical significance. It's impressive to see a church with roots going back to the late 1700s, and it's considered the oldest Baptist church in Kentucky. The historical markers do a good job of explaining the church's early beginnings and its importance in the settlement of the region. Even just passing by, you can get a sense of how long this congregation has been part of the community's history. The grounds are well-kept and the modern campus contrasts interestingly with the deep historical roots of the church. It makes for a quick but meaningful stop if you're interested in local history.

I don't know about the congregation or the pastor, I was drawn to this large white church and the…read morehistorical marker in front in downtown Elizabethtown. The marker reads, "The oldest continuing Baptist congregation west of Allegheny Mts., organized June 17, 1781, near Hynes Station. Preceded by log structures, this edifice completed, 1834, by John Y. Hill. Sold to First Baptist Church, 1897, and services held until 1974, except when USA soldiers used building as hospital, 1865. Listed on National Register of Historic Places, 1974." It is marker number 1621 and it was erected in 1977 by the Kentucky Historical Society and the Kentucky Department of Transportation. [This is a repost of my review from October 21 that was my 2048th review of 2024, 282nd in Kentucky and 23068 overall. Yelp removed it because I mistakenly reviewed the church instead of creating a new business for the historical marker. Mistake corrected. Here we are. Yelp wants to merge the church with the marker.] [Review 94 of 2025 - 282 in Kentucky - 23661 overall]

This is a "must do" if you are looking for a unique family adventure. Our family group had ages 7…read moreto 57 and everyone was able to have an awesome time. Great professional staff and safety is their #1 priority. Located right in the city, just a short drive to get there. This is the most open cavern I have ever been in and you almost feel like you are in a dark warehouse, it's so big! No "tight" spaces of any kind. Heights might be your issue if that is a concern. If you have any climbing, repelling, spelunking, or exploring experience, this is a "walk in the park" for you. No experience is needed and they take care of everything. All you have to do is zip when you're told. Have fun! Shoutout to Bethany M., an excellent staff member.

The Good: Riley and Zinner were wonderful guides along our tour!! Made sure everyone was safe and…read morehad a great time!! Online booking mentions that it is a 2.5hr experience but with a smaller group of 8, it only took 1.5hr for all the zip lines. Overall a very fun experience and great with big groups! The Bad: Do not get the picture package!! The picture is taken at a standing platform after one of the zip lines, not an action shot!! The Ugly: It felt a little sketchy going down the barren hallway. It was a 5 min walk that felt like you were going through an industrial hallway and it just felt out of place to keep going if the signs were not there. On to my next adventure....
