In March 2004, I purchased a whole house surge protector from Nolin. It had a 15 year warranty…read more Yesterday, a Nolin Technician came to my home unannounced (Note: My phone number is printed on my bill. He informed me that he was there to remove my surge protector from the side of the meter, and that they had tried to contact me several times by phone and mail about it. When I pointed out this as untrue, he became argumentative and stated that it "probably didn't work anyway" and that some of them were shorting out. I told him to restore the device, as he was not going to replace it. I then called Nolin office at the only number they list on bill. After listening to all the weird menu items (that did not apply), I selected the operator and was disconnected twice. The third time I got a gentleman on option 2 who referred me to Rick Ryan of Member Services. I got his machine . Three hours later, a Todd Drake returned my call. He apologized for the letter which he said was returned . He stated he had installed the unit, but refused to recommend an electrician or replacement protector for legal reasons. I told him that that was the solution I wanted and was willng to pay for it. He also stated that the surge protector still worked, but was now out of warranty. Getting no replacement I ended the call. This morning, a Nolin vehicle again enters my property unannounced. It is Mr. Drake who says he is here to remove the protector because the previous irate tech had "cut a wire" making it unsafe. He hands me a copy of the letter that was sent to the wrong address and the original purchase contract also with wrong city address. He returns device stating it still works. After he leaves I again call Rick Ryan who answers his phone. He states he is aware of situation and has nothing to add, simply stating:"That's what they did to me". Nolin RECC is apparently run by the keystone cops. Their only phone number menu is a mess. and they are not the slightest bit concerned with the customer, they always arrive unannounced, and do whatever they want because they are a monopoly whose only concern is covering their behinds.
