His wit is lightening fast which helps as he reaches for the higher shelves The Guinness is superb and worth the visit alone having been thoughtfully managed with temperature and excellent maintenance by professionals There is no pub in Dublin or Dun Laoghaire that I want to spend in more than this pub Some call if "the old man bar" because young and old alike feel welcome there If you like fun the owner encourages all singers good and bad to belt one out so don't be shy even if you don't know all the words. It must be far more hazardous than cigarette smoke ever was in a pub with even limited ventilation. Without the candles this would merit a 5.

It was quite, footfall wise, at 12pm but it slowly picked up. It seems to be frequented by every age group, including families. Throughout the day there was live music and a carvery. When I went to get my carvery I was having Mushroom sauce and was asked if I wanted more, this was turning into a great dish, then he piled on the roast potatoes.... and went back for more mushroom sauce. By now I had a good plate full and it only cost €6.99.... where can you get value that good? If you don't like carvery there seems to be an all day option of the likes of Chicken Nuggets(big tenders) and Chips. A good place to go with a family, but if you are there to have a meeting or watch a match on a Sat I would avoid it as the music can be overpowering. *music may have been on earlier in the day due to it being Paddy's Day.
