A good selection of titles with various formats available although CDs are no longer available at this branch. That said, you can request a CD hold for pickup at the Abingdon branch. They will also order/request items they don't carry in the Harford County system from Baltimore for example. Also nice to be have the option to pick up your reserve items at the window. Most of the branches are open Sundays from October to April. I've always had a great experience with all of the staff at the various branches.

The children's library was very nice! My kids are a bit young for reading by themselves but we found several books that I read to them, and many comfortable low love seats for me to sit and read with them on. They also had a little tykes play house with many hands-on learning toys, a leap pad station with fun and age-appropriate apps (my LOs personal fave was the petting zoo app), and some computers. The children's librarians that we met were all very lovely ladies, embodying every mother goose sort of kindness you could hope for. We got to do a children's first art class too. It was messy and wonderful, and the kids loved it. In the end that's what matters most to this mom: it was a safe, clean environment that my kids enjoyed. I'm certain that we will be going back. One side note: there is an automatic sliding door entrance near the activity room. And yes, small tots can open it. Just keep an eye on yours if you're doing an activity back there. In the general library there's another large door between the actual library proper and the activity room.

There is still a large selection of books and seating. There are four quiet rooms, the Maryland room and additional seating throughout the library. So for the past couple months I've been driving out of my way to the PH branch. Two weeks ago I thought I would give the WM a shot. Mannnn I have been so wrong about them. You drive in, call the number on the sign and tell them your name and which parking spot you're in (this is really only necessary if they are bringing the books to your car). I thought it would take forever to get someone on the phone, but each time it was right away (my 3rd trip in 2 weeks, yes I'm a bookworm). Then you have the option to meet them at the front door with your books. It was less than 30 seconds of a wait time!! While I like the lazy option of not getting out of my car at the PH branch, this was just as fast and convenient (if not faster because PH usually has at least 1-2 cars in line already).

The best part of this library is the long hours during the school year for studying. They are open until 10:00PM Monday-Thursday, 4:30PM on Fridays, and have Saturday & Sunday hours. There are plenty of computers to use, and large tables with power ports at each seat for your laptop. If you find yourself getting distracted while doing work or school projects, this is the perfect place to come. It is open to the public, and the WiFi is free.

Namely, this branch is a lot smaller than the normal one I go to making computer access and comfortable seating more hit and miss. Also more hit and miss, if I'm popping in for a specific book there is less of a chance that they would have it.

I spent many Sundays here during my first semester of grad school. I never had any difficulty finding space in the quiet study rooms, and I found that the dedicated quiet space encouraged the quality of my writing for my weekly discussions and papers. The library also offers printing services for a very small fee. The librarians are friendly and kind, and remain knowledgeable about a wide array of books and other resources.
