During a visit they had technical difficulties with their card reader but card was charged 3 times! The cashier rudely told me I had not been charged though I showed them the transaction per my banking app as it was a debit and not a credit. I waited more than 7 days to give them the benefit of the doubt and my bank time for any hold to be reconciled. After the charges were confirmed by my bank I went by the store in hopes of speaking to the owner as i refuse to speak with anyone who is rude to me a second time but they were conveniently never in. Finally, I called hoping to reach them by phone and the rude cashier answered and told me he did not see any transactions for that day and basically didn't care. I even told him that I didn't want to file a dispute and wanted to give them the opportunity to rectify this, his response was go ahead and have your bank dispute the charges and refund you. So guess what, i will be disputing the charges, receiving my refund and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I will probably not go here again considering there is a man who follows me around the store. I usually only come for a few bottles of inexpensive wine but on one occasion he came up to me and just took the bottle out of my hands while I was browsing for another without saying anything. The other night I was bending down to get a bottle in the fridge and I saw him out of the corner of my eye standing over me asking if I needed help. Nope, just bending over. Very strange vibes. It's a shame because it's a nice store with good selection and good prices. The women at the counter are nice as well. Horrible Service. They treat people like animals every time I've visited. There's an African American girl that's at the counter, and denied my service when I arrived at 8:52pm with 8mins of business left. They have a great selection of wines here! The place looks deceivingly small from the outside, but it's large and chock-full of options inside. The staff is nice and helpful. And sometimes they have free wine tastings. This has become my go-to spot when I'm on 125th and want to stock up on more wine. They have nice Long Island wines (specifically my favorite Wolffer wines), as well as from all other regions (France, Italy, etc.). Worth a visit if you are looking for a wine shop uptown. read more

Prices are a little all over the place (1.75 of Bacardi Silver for $35? The place down the block has it for $20!), but the selection is impressive. Was craving some Liquore Strega, which is hard to find, and this was the only place nearby that has it -- walking distance to boot! They were doing a tasting of a low-calorie, gin-based coconut liqueur and ended up grabbing one of those as well for my pina coladas. They gave a small discount for that, which was nice. The store is clean, nicely laid-out, well-lit and has a lot of fun, unexpected finds. Wish that they would fill out their gin and vodka selection but maybe they will with time. Will definitely come back for the Strega and other appertifs and to browse their other selections. read more

My mid-afternoon visit was on Sunday,January 19th, 2020 to the Harlem Wines & Spirits @ 17 West 125th St. The staff was very helpful. The woman cashier was not as welcoming. When showing my selections on my iPhone to inquire of Pinot Noir wines that I was interested in buying she seemed to not even have my interests in my selections. Although I purchased a bottle of wine I was not please with the service of the woman at the register. I did remembered another Wine and Spirits store in Harlem name POMPETTE and I traveled to the location because one thing I remembered when purchasing from there sometime in the past was the exceptional welcoming and service I received. This store is beautiful, clean and a joy to walk into. They keep a record of what you ordered so if you loved the wine, you can ask for the same thing next time. Very reasonably priced. My friend was visiting from France and he picked out a French wine from a Chateau that was $11.99 a bottle. It was fabulous. They also have wine tastings and the nicest staff. After having to buy wine in stores where the people are behind plexiglass, it is a joy to go here. read more

They have a good selection of wines and spirits but to be honest, I found the shopping experience quite uncomfortable. I was offered help upon entry which was nice, but I said no as I was just browsing. The male shop assistant then proceeeded to follow me around the shop rather indiscreetly as though I was going to steal something. A pet hate. I might go back but I'll probably try to avoid it and go somewhere that they trust their customers a bit more. read more

Pros: - They deliver up to a ten block radius (I think). - They greet you with high spirits, most of the time. - They have a very large selection. - They keep a record of the things you buy, only if you open an account with them. - Place is just super pretty. Cons: - Not too much of a negative but the minimum is $20, no exceptions. - They can't hear you or understand you half of the time, which goes the same for them. - One of the guys there is very rude when he picks up the phone. - One of the tall guys smells like a homeless man, and the other guy can't explain to me anything about what I'm buying except that it is very good. - Don't expect to find a reasonable price here. It's expensive and even the cheap bottles are super expensive. Same goes for liquor. - Always ask for the price before you find out at the register that the price on the shelf isn't the same as what the bottle is worth. (i.e. A bottle is on the shelf but it's in two different places and it has two different prices). Then you feel deceived when the overpriced bottle is already even more overpriced because they didn't change the price on the shelf. - They like to make believe that they know what they're talking about, but they really don't. You can ask some of the guys there but I would take their recommendations lightly. I just moved in to the neighborhood, but this is the only liquor store that tries to be classy, and believe me, you pay for it at the counter. And the guy I presume to be the owner is very flirty, and not in a good way. He brought up sex while I was trying to check-out! And kept staring at my rear! Definitely a no from me. I'd only come here again if I had no choice, but until then, I'll keep buying my stuff online. read more

Called and asked for a delivery. The young lady on the phone lied about what time they closed (it was 10:10 she said they close at 10). I informed her that Yelp said 10:30 she became argumentative and said "well no deliveries past 10:15" I replied saying I thought you said you closed at 10? She then hung up the phone.
