I moved to Redlands and it's kind of annoying how a lot of places won't talk to you when you walk in, don't have a number to call, or just say dm this person on instagram. I don't have social media and I'm not getting it to make an appointment. When I walked into Harlo & State I was welcomed by a gentleman that was friendly and stopped what he was doing to assist me. He made me feel comfortable right away and he offered to set me up with someone that matched my availability and styling preference. I ended meeting Jenn and she is outstanding in both the work she does and the way that she makes you feel welcome and just beautiful! She also doesn't linger for days which I appreciate as I have a two year old at home. She gave me the perfect cut and style and her pricing was on point! I was also looking for brow services which she recommended Felicia and let me tell you, I was blown away about how communicative and just awesome she was! Felicia instantly made me feel comfortable and her vibe was great- somehow without knowing her or seeing any insta, I trusted her reputation of really customizing my brows to what I needed. TLDR; I think the salon is good/fine, but don't book with Gity! The experience was terrible and since they contract the stylists the owners couldn't do anything about it. I've really procrastinated in writing this review, just because my experience left such a sour taste in my mouth. I requested a woman's cut and color ombre (and sent a reference photo of my hair). I was booked with Gity and she quoted me $150. I showed her a picture of what I wanted (dark at the top down to a warm/golden color) with a 1-2 inch trim and face-framing pieces. She said it wouldn't be a problem. Long story short, I ended up with uneven, blotchy, highlights. At the end she asked if i still wanted a trim (um yes?) and she rushed through it. I didn't say anything because she took 4 hours (even though she told me we'd take far far less), the salon was closing and I thought "maybe i just need to get used to it". In retrospect, I should have been furious that what I got wasn't even close to what i asked for. She told me it would be a really easy / cheap fix that I could do myself and that made me even more upset because (1) I shouldn't have to and (2) it WAS NOT an easy or cheap fix. Plus, because she used so much bleach (which she shouldn't have used in the first place) she charged me $200 instead of $150. I went to another stylist while on vacation for the holidays (who's an expert on color) and he was absolutely HORRIFIED at the state of my hair and the distribution of highlights. So I had to pay another $80 for him to make it look better (which took THREE HOURS), but due to all the bleach i couldn't get what i originally wanted. Luckily he did an amazing job. I told Harlo and State what happened and they were really apologetic and offered a refund. BUT, then the stylist got involved and told me it was my fault and I was being mean for telling them what happend and that I lied? Since they contract the stylists, the owners couldn't do anything about it. The stylist refunded the $50 extra that she charged me but refused to do anything else, and this was AFTER she argued with me back and forth telling me how I wrong I was (I don't argue with people). The salon offered me a gift card for $150 worth of their products, but i didn't want to accept it because it was Gity's fault, not theirs. Anyway, I've attached reference photos. The salon was sweet but no matter what you do DONT book with Gity. I will never go back or recommend them just because of this experience. read more

The stylist that used to work on my hair Jennifer AKA Jen did a horrible color on my hair that left patches of pink all over my hair was so disappointed when I went back to tell her that I was so disappointed in how my hair came out didn't say how we can fix what was already messed up. I tried to give her one more chance to try to fix the situation. I had her put a dark color all over and told me she was not able to blow dry or style my hair because she had double booked so disappointed in the way she works I would not recommend anybody to go to Jennifer. read more

I know Harlo is wonderful and everyone is good in there, but skill is not the issue here. Character is. I had been going to Stacy for 2 years. Most of the time she did a great job especially my color. For the third time, when I arrived for my scheduled appointment, she wasn't there. The receptionist said I wasn't down so she texted Stacy and she responded with a thumbs up saying she would be in. So I waited 20 more minutes. The receptionist came to me and said, "Stacy just called and said she would not be doing your hair today. It's her cousin's birthday and she is going to spend the day with her and the only hair she was going to do is hers." I was upset not only by what was said, but by the way it was delivered. We rescheduled for the following week and I left. A couple of hours later Stacy called me saying the receptionist was very upset, which hadn't been displayed to me, and she would no longer be doing my hair and hung up on me. That was fine because I would not go back to her anyway after she cancelled the third time and lied. She cancelled the appointment herself which she had confessed to me before when it had happened. This is very rude and unprofessional. She could have called me and rescheduled without all the drama and dishonesty. I had recommended her to a friend who went in the other day. I hadn't told her of the incident and she told Stacy that I had recommended her. Stacy's response was nasty under her breath. It is important that people giving a service use proper manners towards their clients or in any situation. Cancelling an appointment because you want to do something else instead is very unprofessional. read more

The salon itself was very clean and well maintained. All hair stylists and girls were very nice. My hair stylist was also very nice. I can't remember her name but I know it started with an "A", Annika or something like that. I came for a consultation the day before my appointment to make I could do what I wanted with my hair. I showed her a picture of a brown to blonde balayage, she said it'd be easy. Now I know my hair wouldn't look exactly like the picture... but I thought it would at least come close. I asked for a balayage but got highlights instead. Maybe I should have said ombré balayage.. ? I just thought the picture showed it very clearly. I've waited a year to get my hair done. I did my research, or thought I did. But my hair looks like it was cheaply done. I wish I would have said something to my stylist afterwards but it was already too late. Really nice salon and people. I went in after not having dyed my hair in over a year. I communicated to my stylist that while I did love being blonde, I was now wishing to embrace my natural color and continue growing it out. She only seemed to understand the first part, and decided to use semi permanent dye. She waited until she had mixed the dye and was beginning to foil before she told me, otherwise I would have reiterated that I want something permanent as I grow out my hair. Regardless, she assured me- and assured me again- that she was using a developer that would make it last just as long as permanent dye. Her saying that satisfied my doubt. But... it only lasted 2 shampoos before there was significant fading. I was really bummed with the outcome because it looked so good at first. When I called about this, she seemed to have misinterpreted everything I had said during our initial appointment, essentially brushing off my concerns. I understand why there could have been miscommunication, but I'm not sure how I could have been more clear either. Just a precaution to other clients- be VERY clear, VERY clear. And make sure the dye is permanent.. otherwise it's really like flushing money down the toilet. first pic is before, second is immediately after, third is 4 shampoos/3 weeks later. read more

She gave me the cut that I wanted, while modifying it to suit my hair type. I wanted bangs while keeping my length. Shr recommended adding a few long layers in order to increase my volume. I have been thinking of doing for some time. But I Agree with with one of the other reviewer's of the salon. Don't go to Gity to get any services done. She is very rude and mean person. have been going to Gity how a months. And I'm not happy she treated me. One time I had her dye my hair and she had another client come and she had me sit in the back room for almost one hour. Good thing I had phone with to keep myself company. And I don't think she even apologized for making me wait so long. I peaked outside the room and was busy talking to her client. Not professional behavior at all. I had gone to her about a month ago and she had me waiting for her to finish with a client for almost 30 minutes. From what I saw her client which was some older man. Was crying because he had s tissue in his hands. I wad thinking to myself. This is a salon not a therapy clinic to come and cry. It was as though they were having a therapy session. So rude and disrespectful to me. For making me wait so long. And then when she finally noticed I was waiting she had the audacity to not even say sorry that you had me waiting so long. Luckily I didn't say anything because I didn't want to start any trouble. So I guess she makes her own appointments and I had scheduled another appointment the beginning of this month and I had forgotten what day it was. She called me after the appointment had passed and left me a voicemail to call her back so when I did call her back she told me that she had just come in for my appointment and she was busy at home doing something and she came in just for me and I didn't show up. She also sad which I thought was very rude and mean that if I ever canceled her off again without telling her she would never take me to the client ever again. So I am never going to that salon ever again because this lady makes me very angry. read more

I actually found this place by walking downtown, I just moved to the neighborhood from the Bay Area and needed to find a stylist asap because my hair was dead. I have pretty stubborn hair usually that repels bleach and color so I was really excited that my hair was able to lift at all! It was a great cut and really dug the highlights.
