Free parking with maybe 20-30 spots. Multiple trails from easy to moderate. Can become packed in evenings and weekend. Be careful of mountain bikers. You share the trail. Overall, peaceful hike.

Lots of shady spots to take a breather

The most beautiful hiking with so much wildlife. I've seen so many birds, a few reptiles, and coyotes out here and I've identified dozens of plant species. Lots of parking available. My dog and I really love it

Love this place! My kids, some friends and I were there for story time and stayed afterwards for some exercise and exploring! I love all the beautiful spring flowers and green everywhere! They have different walking paths, but walked on an easy one since we had little kids in tow! They had small creeks, which are filled with water right now from all the rain we have been getting. It was a nice peaceful walk, I'll be back again next week!

Day off means a hike and brunch ... to me!!! After eating at Two Trees, we decided to work it off by hiking at Harmon Canyon! I enjoyed the hike. We did a short 1 hour hike but you can def do longer more difficult ones. I hadn't been to this trail but it was nice. There's a port a potty but I would not use it . They also have bells for people biking so that they can let hikers know they're behind them! What a great idea. It's a pretty clean trail! I'd come back!

Been waiting for this one to open up again. Glad we were finally able to go. It's such a beautiful hike. No shade so do recommend to do whatever you need to do to protect yourself against the sun. Once you start hiking, there are lots of splits you can do to continue the hike. Saw a lot of bikers on the trail which was fun to see since we are looking to get bikes. The full trail is not open yet. I believe they are still fixing the damages that occurred because of the rain fall. Parking is limited so do plan ahead. There's street parking close to the entrance if lot is full already. Overall really pretty. We will for sure be coming back.

Golden berg lookout. About 4 miles up.

A great addition to Ventura, which up until now, did not have that many hikes. Plenty of parking and a porta potty at the trailhead and lots of different paths to take. Perfect for mountain biking, family hiking, and more strenuous hikes as well. It's super dry and there isn't much shade, though.

Whether I'm headed out for a full-on trail run or just want to hike and get some nice scenery and views, Harmon is always one of my favorite local spots. The parking is pretty straightforward and they are good about putting out signage in the areas where you may get ticketed for parking. The church also makes it very clear that they do not want you parking in their parking lot across the way, which is helpful to respect the nearby area. Every time I have gone there are always bike bells available, which I can attest to having been helpful times when I have been running on the hills and hear a bike jingle before I ever see the person. Similarly, the restrooms and hand washing station are usually well maintained. The trails themselves are usually well kept. There tends to be clear-cut paths, minimal if any trash and plenty of friendly people along the way. It has been an absolute blessing to have the one way as I'm running back down from the top of the peak / overlook. Depending which way you go, there definitely will not be much shade so I recommend bringing a good hat, layers if you are prone to burning and plenty of water if you feel like you might get dehydrated along the way.

Awesome hike!! Lots of bees this May 2024. But it's beautiful and challenging! Several creek crossings too.

I've spent countless mornings and afternoons here hiking, clearing my head, and getting a great workout in while still enjoying nature. The trails are well maintained with multiple options, so you can keep it light or make it more challenging depending on your mood. The views are beautiful, especially in the early morning or at sunset, and it never feels overly crowded. It has a calm, local Ventura vibe that I really appreciate. I've also brought kids I nanny here for walks and fresh air (sticking to the easier areas), and it's such a great space to reset. One thing to note: when it's hot, be cautious of snakes on the trails--proper shoes and awareness are important. If you're looking for a reliable, scenic place to hike in Ventura that locals truly love, Arroyo Verde Park is a must.

In the middle of the park is the toddler playground and then at the end of the park is the larger playground area for older children. There is lots of grass and a grass hillside. The highlight for me was the toddler playground. I work with children and often like to meet at parks to see their gross motor skills and work on them. This is one of the few parks left I have seen with sand. The park was very clean and even though there were many dogs off leash running around, pet owners were quite aware of where their dogs were and I didn't see any dog poop in the grass. You also can't beat that gorgeous ocean view. I came on a Friday late afternoon when they don't charge a park fee. Big plus!

It was on the coolish side, but the abundance of sunshine made it seem warmer. We had an early dinner down on Main Street. Where we parked there was a sign indicating that the eastern entrance to Grant Park was nearby. We had been up there perhaps only once in the past, and we'd gone in from the west. The drive up in the late afternoon / early evening had the golden glow magic to it. The light was amazing! I was driving and marveling at every twist and turn on the roadway while ascending the hills. The wildflowers and green groundcover from winter's rains made the scenery even more breathtaking than it might be when the grasses start to turn golden instead of green. I was able to drive all the way to the top parking lot, which overlooks the Serra Cross, and the entire Ventura coastline. The view encompasses the pier, the harbor, then beyond out to Channel Islands Harbor, Port Hueneme, and the western edge of the Santa Monica Mountains. It solidified my feelings in that moment of gratitude for enjoying life in Ventura County for the past 40 years. A gorgeous view on a clear day can do that for a person. When a sunny day happens, and the winds are calm, I can recommend taking a drive up to the top of Grant Park to make some of your daily cares seem very small. Looking down on the city / county from on high helped lift my spirits and added joy to my birthday celebrations.

A loved one first brought me here when I was about nine years old, and the memory has stayed with me ever since. Now that he's no longer with me, I find myself returning--not just to enjoy the scenery, but to remember the love he showed me by introducing me to places like this at such a young age. April is his birthday month, and I visited again just last week. I breathed in the scent of fresh lavender, sat in the sun over Easter weekend, and wandered the grounds at my own pace. Every moment of that solitude felt meaningful. Yes, this may sound a bit sentimental--but it really is that special. It's a beautiful place.

I'm a reluctant hiker, but I admit that it can be nice to go outside, especially if it makes your husband happy. This was a lovely hike, scenic and mostly relaxing. We didn't go as far as we could have, but we made it pretty deep, hiking at a leisurely pace for a little under two hours. It was peaceful, with great views, and we got ideal weather. A very Southern California paradise kind of morning. The trail was rocky and sometimes slippery, so I'd recommend hiking shoes if you have them. I wore my regular sneakers and almost slid to my demise a couple times. It would've looked bad for Matt if I'd died in a hiking accident on our anniversary. My friends would've been like, "Steph doesn't even hike." I'm glad we visited the Valley View Preserve and would recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy some outdoor time in Ojai. The trails are easy enough for a novice level hiker. Just bring water and good shoes and maybe a spouse who doesn't want to kill you.

My question is if they know about this major disconnect in communication between the two that is so bad that it's affecting customer reservations then why have they not fixed it at all? In regards to service it was horrible as the ranger Graceyn was extremely rude even laughing at our predicament and saying we were lying about our reservation, it was hard to even begin talking to her as before anything she didn't want to even talk to us and had to be convinced by another ranger to talk to us which was very weird behavior? I've never experienced such ungrounded rudeness before to the point where the other ranger seemed almost apologetic in the stead of Graceyn's behavior. I understand everyone has a bad day or long shift but this was beyond that so i highly do not recommend this place for the horrible communication and service experience. Very disappointing with the whole predicament but silver lining, we were able to transfer to another campground which was the best part of the service there so i'm thankful we at least were able to get that.
