My graduating class had many amazing success stories so I don't understand or relate to some of the reviews on this forum. In my graduating class, some are college graduates who went to great schools. Some are professionals in the working world with some making over 6 figures. Some are married, found love, and started their own families. Many have healthy relationships with people closest to them. Others have blossomed into beautiful people that do not need the medicines and services they needed back in high school. If you're considering Harmony Heights, always remember that Harmony changes people's lives for the better, with a setting that isn't typical of any school you probably have ever been to. This school is horrible, it feels like a prison and honestly makes me feel worse than i ever have knowing i have toi go. For context I've been attending for 2 years and have only ended up going there because my district school didnt want me because i tried to kms. They give excuses and special treatment to the mentally unintelligent and sped kids but then punish people who drop the f bomb or if we dont have a clear water bottle. They constantly allow and never punish behavior like bullying, online harassment, kids inappropriately touching other kids, kids watching pron on the chromebooks, kids sneaking in drugs and nic (several times), and aggression. I have brought this to attention and these same people get no consequences or a slap on the wrist. The teachers try they're best but it is not academically challenging in the slightest, as long as you show up you can pass. School constantly babies the students, even when theyre near adults. Kids at the school are constantly sleeping or getting triggered by the word 'god', christanity or coloring so good luck trying to talk about normal things. Takes forever to talk to YOUR OWN parents since they dont allow phones and to make calls you need to go through your therapist, whos always busy because they have 30 clients who need to see said therapist every day of the week because the therapists never say no, so if something happened at the school, they'll find out in a week. do not care about privacy. do not care about bullying unless its against the sped kids. do not care about you, because any talk of anything that isnt gay or watered down for the snowflakes gets you sent to your therapist, so good lucky talking about anything (they will take you out of context) If your daughter just struggles with attendance or anxiety dont send them here. school does not care if your planning to take your life, they're just send you to a hospital. "School" feels more like a hospital than a school. Dont send them here. read more

My daughter went to Harmony Heights for all of her high school and part of her junior high years when our public school could not provide the proper education for her. Harmony Heights was truly a blessing from God. Elizabeth went there as a very scared and extremely resistant student. In the end she turned out to be Harmony's poster girl! She not only thrived at Harmony but she blossomed magnificently earning a full scholarship to college. Not only were her academic needs met exceptionally, but more importantly, her emotional needs provided by a wonderful therapist made all the difference in my daughters life. Her social needs were also met, as she developed friendships that still endure today. As a retired teacher, and a mother I know how important it is for your child and your family to have hope. I suffered here from 2013-2014 and it was a living hell. I was a day student and ten years later I am still healing from the things I experienced while at this school. This school almost killed me and no one at the school cared. The entitlement displayed by the principle at the time was disgusting. They didn't care about any of us they only cared about the money they were getting from our schools. read more

As a special education teacher and the family member of a Harmony student, I can say firsthand how much Harmony's program makes a difference. My cousin suffered from severe anxiety, depression, and school phobia for most of her childhood and adolescence, and had tried other programs before coming to Harmony Heights. My aunt and uncle were desperate for help, and our entire family was incredibly worried. It was only when they found Harmony that not only did my cousin begin to get the help she needed, but her entire family unit received support to help her in her mental health journey. Thanks to Harmony, we got my cousin back. She was able to return to school at Harmony full time and even went on to college, graduating with a bachelor's degree summa cum laude. As an adult, I see her now able to rely on the tools she learned at Harmony when she does have moments she's struggling. Harmony was the nurturing, caring, supportive program she needed, where she made lifelong friends among her classmates and close connections with staff, and came to understand she wasn't alone in her battle. I went to this.."school" in 2014. There's not a day goes by that I regret coming to this school. I'm currently in college and I have 0 school skills because of harmony heights. They do not teach you any life skills nor actual education methods for any subjects. In my senior year I took criminal justice and trust me when I say every single class we watched the show Criminal Minds for the entire school year with no follow up discussions or feedback. Most of the time I would fall asleep and I somehow got an A in that class. Most class times in other classes wasn't challenging nor taught in depth as well. Which I feel like it could've been beneficial due to the fact that some of us want to go to college. There was about 3 teachers in the entire school that actually taught their lessons. The "therapist" there are very picky and choosy who's their favorite client. Kathy Antonelli was my psychologist for the 3 years when I attend to this "school". She may come off as sweet but it's very deceiving. When I needed her most she will roll her eyes and end up not seeing me. I was the type of client that didn't open up to easily which frustrated her a lot but isn't your job to be patient especially if you're going to work here? She really didn't understand the type of person I was either. Which gave me a really hard time to open up to her. The dress code was very bizarre, ridiculous, and very sexist. The girls weren't allowed to wear tank tops, ripped jeans, facial piercings, colorful hair (unnatural hair color), no more than 2 piercings on your ears, crop tops, shorts, skirts, no "outrageous" makeup (black lipstick, eyeshadow, etc.), no book bags (???), no tattoos, and the weird list goes on and on. They explained that those type of styles of clothing is considered "distracting". The "school" has male stuff members such as teachers and maintenance. If the "school" has an issue with their male employees then that's their fault for hiring them. WEARING THOSE CLOTHES DOESN'T MAKE IT DISTRACTING IT MEANS YOU HAVE A FILFHY AND DISGUSTING MINDSET FOR UNDERAGE GIRLS! it also makes them think girls "create" these issues "purposely". Truly disgusting. They will tear down your creativity and expression in the most weird way possible. If you wore any of those clothes they make you sit in the office all day or make you wear an UNWASHED donated clothing that most likely will not fit you. This "school" will not help your daughter academically and emotionally. They kept failing me as a person. They did not motivate me to become better. I had to figure it out on my own and finally at the age of 23 I got my life together ON MY OWN. Harmony Heights was the BIGGEST set back in my life so far. The staff does NOT care about you nor will they accommodate to your issues. They treat every case the same when we're all different and need different needs. They are lazy, selfish, unorganized, and horrible when it's time to ACTUALLY work and deescalate an issue. This "school" wanted me to send me to the psych ward MID DAY because I drew naked women in art class and believed it was a cry for "help". Luckily I was 18 at the time and I was a legal adult and had the ability to say no. Not to be ageism but the staff has a VERY old school mind set that is extremely out of date. I feel like the school needs to whole clean house and hire new young staff members who are up to date with today's new psychological facts and therapy. In conclusion, if you really want your daughter to get help don't send her to Harmony Heights because that's just asking to make your daughter worse. Send her somewhere else BUT HERE! read more

Former student here, attended 4 years. I can't adequately describe in words how much I hate this place, truly, from the bottom of my heart. They'll keep you there longer than you need to be, pretend they've been doing everything right and cast the blame all on you, as long as it makes them more money from the school district. I was involved in a legal battle with them and they lied to make themselves look good. During this period, staff members there I once trusted, INCLUDING MY THERAPIST, who I confided in my entire time there, suddenly were my enemy and watched me like a hawk, making my last months there a living emotional hell. Don't waste your time with this awful school, ESPECIALLY if your daughter has trust issues. The admins who work there only care about money, and will screw you over if you're any sort of minor inconvenience to them. I'm willing, and it would be my pleasure even, to give a more detailed story in private message, if you're considering this school for your daughter, or if she's attending. If she's complaining about the staff not meeting her emotional needs, or belittling her - believe her, it's true. I could count only on my hand the staff members and teachers who I thought really valued their job and cared about the students. UPDATE - I left the same review on their Facebook page. Worst school ever. I attended the residential school around the year 2013. The school was highly restrictive in the way they created their program. I came to the school because I was struggling with high anxiety and this school only escalated my issues. They had levels 1,2,3 & 4. It was always extremely hard to level up and hardly anyone got to level 4 which allowed you to go home on the weekends, use a computer and have access to your phone and eventually go to the day school/or leave the school. I ended up becoming more depressed being there because I was on level 3 and was doing well but was still told I couldn't leave the school. It was basically impossible to level up. Thus, all they did was end up putting me on more prescription drugs which just messed me up more and caused me to fall asleep in class and not do well grade wise. Looking back now it seems as if it was intentionally done. They didn't even seem to care if you were suicidal. One girl had to swallow a tack just to get released from the school which somehow allowed her to go back home. On another note, I can't speak for every individual but I do believe their are/were corrupt people working their connected to let's just say really bad people. If you care about your child, please don't send them to this school. Moreover, I stayed in that school for about 3 years and my mom finally was able to set up a meeting to pull me out of there. She had to pull tooth and nail just to get me out. I ended up going to a better day school that was less restrictive but it took a long time to heal from the trauma they caused me. To those who also had a bad experience; there is hope. I'm now in college as an honors student working on my masters. You just need people who actually believe in you, and I thank my mom for that. What people need to understand about harmony heights is that these so called "medical professionals" that work there are only working there because of the money they get from school districts. They do not and will not care about your daughter, they just see the students as another number. I'm using an alias but I was a student there a few years ago and they did many questionable things that someone who goes to a regular public school would look at and think "what in the world?" I've seen them MISDIAGNOSE a person with narcissistic personality disorder because they said out loud that they didn't feel like they "belonged" a harmony, I've seen staff members following around other students just because, and it's really creepy and overbearing. I've personally been offered Benadryl by one of these employees (I don't respect them enough to call them therapists) when I was crying one day. They have a reward system every month where if you don't get written up, you're eligible to have pizza at the last Friday of the month, and if you do they literally refuse to let you have some and make you eat cold sandwiches made by kitchen staff that don't even change their gloves. Funny story I heard was one time a girl wasn't eligible for it and she had her mom drop off pizza for her to have, and the school REFUSED to let her have it. I spent my last years in high school at a public school so looking back now I just think their whole system was too restrictive to be therapeutic at all and quite frankly, absolutely ridiculous. Because some of these girls will get a write up for as little as talking about a hot topic on magazine privately with their friends that just happened to mention the word "drug" in it. But noooo.....the staff members are ALWAYS watching you. Even if you go to the bathroom for "too long" they'll always go after you and question every little thing you're doing. It's wrong and they're not helping anyone by doing this. But the WORST THING about this school is the fact that they honestly don't care about bullying. I was and I knew so many girls that went there that were bullied. It's disgusting. I was bullied by a girl who tortured me everyday that I was there. What did they do? Nothing. I knew another girl that went there who was tricked into being friends with this group that ended up getting her written up for. It gets even worse, I met this one girl who abused and threatened to hurt and ruin so many girls lives but pretended to be a little princess in front of the staff (which they fell for because they don't really have much of a brain). I currently go there I've been there since July 12,2016 and my life is a living hell there it's making my depression worse not to mention they accepted a 12 year old to the residential program . This "therapeutic " school needs to be reviewed and shut down . New girls and level 3, 4 Are treated like royalty and they Treat level 2s like complete trash . If you self harm while there you get punished. You get sent to get a psyc evaluation for everything . Someone needs to get this place reported to child protective services. They say they don't except girls with anger problems and eating disorders but there are many girls there who have these issues. Many girls feel unsafe there because of threats and so much drama caused by other girls . They also do not allow any type of personality in your hair ,What You wear , and they don't let you have piercings of any kind or tattoos colored hair or dress the way you want.I really hope somebody has the Courage to report them and get them shut down thank you. read more
