I paid $9 for cheese and grapes. A breakfast wrap only meat, cheese and egg $15. Nope- couldn't do that one. It's cold as Alaska in here. Feels like the outside at 23 degrees. Added stress... My flight has been delayed twice this morning with no future in bound Delta flights. This is not due to weather. Lord Jesus, please allow me to get to my 2 connecting flights in time. Next time, I will fly out of either Raleigh Durham or Charlotte. Know This #disappointed

Parked here for a few days as a friend of mine lives in Goldboro, NC and this was the closest…read moreoption - truly a wonderful airport. It is so welcoming. The fuel is some of the cheapest, there are NO parking or tie down fees (for single engine planes) and they have plenty of spots and ropes available for use. Everyone I met at the airport was incredibly friendly and community minded. It is attended 7 days a week and is truly a wonderful facility and gift to the region. It seems like there's a maintenance facility onsite and a building accessible 24/7 (via a code). Night landings are a breeze with a great lighting system. For food, I would suggest Adam's roadside barbecue about a 10 minute drive away from the airport. I'd come back here in a heartbeat!

PTI's slogan is "fly easy." It's accurate…read more I flew Delta roundtrip through Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI) last week and everything was an absolute breeze. I love this airport because it's small, not crowded, and is very easy to get around. GSO is the airport code for PTI, since it's located in Greensboro, North Carolina. It serves the Piedmont Triad region of the state, consisting of Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem. The Triad is not to be confused with the Research Triangle of Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill (which has its own airport too - RDU). PTI was the airport I grew up with in the 80s and 90s. Our family would regularly fly from here to visit extended family in Bangkok, Thailand. The trip would always consist of three legs because PTI is a smaller airport and we'd always have to connect to a bigger-city airport like Atlanta, Chicago O'Hare, Newark, or Washington Dulles for long-haul international flights. My parents still fly these same routes today (my mom is now a 2 Million Miler on United). Despite its name, PTI has never actually had scheduled commercial international flights. The "International" designation stems from its status as an official U.S. Customs & Border Protection Port of Entry, which handles international cargo, private jets, and occasional international charters. The airport consists of two concourses: 1. The North Concourse contains Gates 20-34 (15 gates) and is primarily used by Delta, United, Allegiant, and charters. 2. The South Concourse contains Gates 40-51 (12 gates) and is primarily used by American. The Main Terminal, outside security, on the Departures Level (upper level) is the most "modernized" section of the airport. I think it was last renovated and updated in 2011. It looks nice. The North Concourse, inside security, and the Arrivals Level (lower level), outside security, where baggage claim is, are mostly just as I remember them from 25+ years ago. Parts of PTI still have that throwback 80s/90s aesthetic to me, from the concourse carpets to the retro-looking and sometimes illuminated door panels and signs. So, this airport does hold some nostalgic and sentimental value for me, which is probably why I'm giving it five stars instead of four. Reasons why I might downgrade this airport to four stars are: (1) There are no airline lounges. (2) The bathrooms could be updated. My sister made a great point, though. Why do you need an airport lounge at an airport where there is no wait? As I wrote in my separate five-star review for the TSA Checkpoint at the North Concourse, the security process was fast and easy, and I'm not sure if it could have gone any better. And as I wrote in my review for Hertz, the car rental experience was a breeze too. It's just a short walk to and from the rental car lot, and it wasn't busy at all. If you have time to kill, the Main Terminal outside security is more interesting than post-security. It's worth a stroll. Outside, on both the Departures (upper) and Arrivals (lower) Levels, it also wasn't busy at all. There appeared to be plenty of both short-term and long-term paid parking, directly outside the doors. Finally, the luggage carts at PTI are free.

Though they do have a Starbucks and one of the best places to sit awhile is an observation area located in theMain Terminal by the PGA Bar. This spot was a secret place that a TSA agent made us aware of. This agent was so friendly and helpful cannot thank her enough. We did have to go back out through security to reach this oasis but going back through TSA was so quick and easy. The airport also, had a lovely art exhibit in our terminal which was nice as well. Don't care to get stuck again but if I have to fly through this Airport I am onboard.

I flew one wood and fabric bird and one low wing single place. I rarely used much of the 3000-foot runway, never touched the runway edge, and I was flying taildraggers, one of which was squirrely on the ground. There is a slope to the runway but not enough to demand your attention. I miss the place, hard to get hangar space there since most folks know what a treasure the place is. The only drawback to me is all the development that has grown up around the area, 540 beltline beneath. I wouldn't want to lose an engine after takeoff, but that's true of most places these days.

The airport is home to some former commercial aircraft that are in various states of disrepair. The airport property is completely closed and fenced off. Because it's a live airport, trespassing is going to get you in trouble with the FBI so absolutely do not cross the fence line! That said, there are a few aircraft that you can still see and photograph from groundside. Especially if you have a decent zoom capability on your camera. My Google Pixel 4 did a more than decent job as you can see here. If you've got better, then it's going to look good for you. It's interesting and sad and a little disheartening to see these aircraft here, rusting and falling apart. Worth a stop if you're in the vicinity.
