i buy a lot of ground beef here-80/20. it's sometimes really good- most OFTEN filled with hard gristle. I cracked a back molar on some.

The guy in the meat department was super helpful - that was the best part of my time at the store! The cashier 'Sheila' forgot to put the meat that I paid for in with my groceries. I get home, find it's not there and I call the store. The customer service guy says 'oh I'm sorry. Bring your receipt in and we'll refund it or give you another pack of hamburger'. Doesn't really help when I was about to use it to make dinner! How about he take an hour out of HIS day and bring it to me?!?! First time shopping there - AND LAST TIME SHOPPING THERE!! Employee owned means nothing when they aren't customer driven! Sheila was too worried about the lady behind me and her cake purchase to put all of my purchase in the cart. No wonder there were only 3 people in the store shopping! Go to Kroger folks... they are waaaay better! read more

I love Harp's! Can I find stuff cheaper at Walmart? Sure. But, can I avoid long lines and the parking lot nightmares of Walmart? Absolutely! That's one reason I come to Harps. Another reason is the people. The folks that work at Harp's are always pleasant and accommodating. They are very helpful and friendly. Every single day I come to harps and grab a red bull to fuel my caffeine addiction and a donut... because I like donuts - don't judge me. On those days when I'm trying to hurry up and grab something like sodas and get back home I ALWAYS go to Harp's. Wanna skip the lines and avoid the traffic of Walmart? Willing to spend a little extra to do so? Wanna be treated like a friend rather than a consumer? Wanna eat an amazing donut? Look no further! Come to Harp's and buy all your groceries! Im not sure if they remodeled this place or just built it... Im gonna guess remodel because of the previous review. Also I havent lived in Jonesboro but 6 months. ON TO THE REVIEW! I liked this place. I got a lot of "hello"s from employees. There was several more employees in here than you would find normally in a grocery store- stocking shelves, putting items back, and other miscellaneous chores. Their prices are higher than walmart of course (isnt everything) but it does benefit from being a smaller facility and taking less time to get through a line. I would shop here to promote their business, I love the fact that they are employee owned. Good way to appreciate your workers!!! read more

Harps Food Store - Remodeled - Grocery Near Me - Jonesboro, Arkansas

The Harp's bakery is the most unhelpful bakery in Jonesboro. We tried calling to order a cannoli cake for a family birthday, both my mom and I called several times. Everytime I called, I'd be put on hold and then disconnected. She called and they told her first that she could just come by and pick up that cake the same day without ordering. That didn't seem right, as we've ordered this cake before and it was a special order. Then she called a different day to confirm and they told her they no longer made this cakes. The cake is on the website. She went by to see if they absolutely no longer had them. They told her it was a special order and wouldn't be in in time. We'd tried to order it nearly a month in advance over the phone, but kept getting different answers. Then in person, got a different answer. If they would have taken our special order when we tried to order it, all would have been fine! I ended up ordering a cake from Southern Confections, which is the most helpful, kind, friendly bakery in town. read more

A 100% employee-owned grocery stor since 2001, located in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri and employing 3,200 people, Harp's is kind of a second-tier store when it comes to selection. As it was close to where I was staying on S. Madison, I walked over to see what goodies I could get for the house. I craved Almond Butter (I'm allergic to peanuts) but there was nary a nut other than a peanut to be found. Dannon's yogurt was the best choice possible here, I DID find Almonds in a can..the strawberries looked pretty good at $4 for two large containers. Most everything is pretty inexpensive if one likes generic foods. I bought four bags of groceries for about $40. Yes, I would have found Kroegers much better in selection of produce/products but this was within walking distance to the house. Can't believe Harvard and Floy Harp opened their first Harp's back in 1930! I'd love to see what they sold then. Nice staff, a bit quiet..the meat counter looked interseting and I saw Louisiana Red Hot sausage..one of me faves!! read more

They are very nice at the store and very accommodating. I ordered a cake for my son's 16th birthday. I was very specific and watched the girl draw it out the way I wanted it to look. I picked it up the day of and it didn't look like what I asked for. Of course silly me for picking it up the day of. I really couldn't do anything but take the cake as is and go on. She asked me if it was ok and I said sorta and she said sign here and sent me on my way. Word to the wise pick it up the day before your event. I have never had a problem in the past and don't really anticipate one in the future but this cake really looked amateurish. At least it will taste good, their cakes always do. I'm about to go and get some decorating stuff and fix it up myself. read more

A nice, clean, convenient grocery store. The bakery is amazing! I've tried the glazed donuts and specialty cake and it was so scrumptious! I like that there is a gas station. read more
