This review is for the meat department. We went in to get some precut pork ribs. There was only one package left so we decided to ask the guys at the meat department if they were able to cut us some more and they said yes to just pick out this specific cut of meat and it could be done. Great! We did so and waited roughly 10-15 minutes for the process, as expected. He handed me the now cut meat and while walking away, I noticed it wasn't really cut how the packaged one was cut at all. We shrugged it off and decided we could just make some cuts when we got home to fix it up a bit. However, when we got home they were cut horribly and so inconsistently that we would've been better off buying the large chunk of meat and cutting it at home ourselves. Asked for 3lbs of meat... after having to recut ourselves at home, we got maybe 1-1.5lbs. read more

If you have been to one Harris Teeter you have been them all. They are always clean and well stocked. The meat and fish department at this store are always helpful and even let me know that Harris Teeter still does rain checks on their specials. Who does rain checks anymore? The Harris Teeter store brands are fairly priced and of top quality. Key to Harris Teeter is shop their sales. They have amazing sales. Sign up for their eVic club and the savings you will realize will be substantial. Plenty of parking and this Teeter also has a Teeter gas station. read more

I used to be a Harris teeter loyalist but the employees make it very clear they would rather be doing anything else than helping you or even being there. Took my business to Publix down the road and it's an incredible difference in customer service and overall attitude and vibe of the store. One of my favorite grocery stores. Always buy stuff on sale. Grabbed a bucket of fried chicken. $5.99 for 8 pieces. Also got the cooked ribs for $9.99. Both were prepared on the same day I bought them. Also some potato salad, which was prepackaged. Liked it better when you used to be able to get it at the deli counter. read more

Our go to for quality red meat--especially nice when there is a meat weekly sale. We always use the app to claim the 4x fuel points and love when we saved $1 a gallon of fuel! I came in here because I'm new to the area and saw good reviews on this grocery store. Very expensive but I needed one pack of chicken. No biggie, got the $13 pack of chicken and got in line. While I was waiting chicken pack in hand the woman working the self checkout registers at around 10:40am came over and said she can help me at the self checkout registers, even scanned my chicken for me. Then asked if I had their store card and I said no I didn't have one, so then she scans hers and it took almost 5 bucks off! Praise God for this woman. Got a bad pack of steaks (one had a hidden bad spot that was easily missed by the butchers) and took it back, managers immediately refunded me and let me have a better pack of steaks on the house. Not all grocery stores are created equal. Seriously. I drive by a Food Lion and a Walmart to get to this store. The quality of produce that is offered, as well as the meat and seafood are second to none in the area. Not to mention the customer service! Not that it has happened frequently but there have been times where the computer did not take off a coupon... When I caught it after the fact customer service adjusted things quickly. They are very quick and kind about it! When I am unsure of where something is rather than tell me where to go they show me. I love this! Some people might think it is silly that I drive further to shop here but it is a great store. I would not trade the quality of food, the amazing selection, and the excellent customer service for a closer store. PS, the gentlemen at the Seafood and Meat counter are very informative! read more

If this Harris Teeter was just a liiiiiiiiiiiittle bit cheaper than Walmart, I would solely shop there without a doubt. I was never a fan of Harris Teeter. I thought it was a hoity-toity, bougie grocery store that I had no business being in... Until one opened up near my old house in Virginia Beach. I just wanted to go for a walk inside to see what it was all about and ended up with some grapes from a local farmer and a slice of chicken pizza. Huge mistake. Now I'm obsessed! Do you know how good you have to be for me to switch my medications from one place to another? Byyyyyyeee, crusty mean ladies at the CVS pharmacy in Surf City. I can't remember what made me choose Harris Teeter the day I ended up there. It definitely had something to do with my medicine... Oh! I had recently come from a business trip and had a prescription wired over to a Harris Teeter in South Carolina that had been transferred to this one! I can't tell you what a blessing they've been. The pharmacists are truly nice. They spend the appropriate amount of time with each customer and give them undivided attention. I recently had a pharmacist call me because I had two medicines that could potentially interact with each other and well... kill me. Lol. He called to make sure I was okay and that I knew what I was taking. I know pharmacists are supposed to do that, but I've only ever had this happen once and I really did appreciate it. Now, enough of the pharmacy! Onto the rest of the store! Gorgeous, well-organized, cleaned, cheery, fully-stocked, all you want and need in a grocery store. They make this awesome banana ice cream with walnuts and dark chocolate chunks in it... Hmm, yeeeesss~ They also have Beyond Meat! They don't have the burgers, yet. Just the meat crumbles, but I'm sure they're right around the corner. There hasn't been a time I haven't found something "different." On my latest trip, I found a mango habanero hard cider. Interesting, no? I love the salad bar and sushi station. Always fresh and properly rotated. The flowers are also fresh! Constantly smiling faces and good service. The sushi is super fresh and never disappoints as a quick meal! The staff is always friendly and the store is always clean! The Starbucks is hit or miss depending on the barista! If you send it back for a Re-do they may get vocal with you so look out for that! Yep the Starbucks manager came out from behind the counter and loudly yelled I made it myself and followed the instructions. Yep, terrible customer service on her end and yep she is still there! I have loved every Harris Teeter I have ever visited and this one fits the mold. They are always clean, well organized and stocked. Early mornings or evenings are my favorite time to go because they are less busy. Harris Teeter has some of the best sales and coupon deals. If I had to give a negative comment, it could only be pricing but it's not so extreme that I am willing to give less stars. Then again it's almost 2020 and prices on groceries everywhere are rising. This is a huge Harris Teeter grocery store, the same as any other. It is probably the closest Starbucks to Topsail Island.

We are on vacation for the week in North Topsail, and before we can put our toes in the sand, we have to stock up on food. Looking at grocery stores in the area, and it looks like this Harris Teeter is a great pick. It's about 11 miles from where we are, but it's an easy drive and a straight shot. When I lived in Mt Pleasant, SC, there was a Harris Teeter right by my house, so I knew what to expect. This was a larger store than the one I was used to, but that's good...it means more selection. It looks like the store was recently built and since this area is growing so quickly, I'm sure they will do a ton of business. A few tips: 1) make sure you get their shopper card. It will save you some money. 2) consider Harris Teeters store brands. They have some great options and that will save you some money. 3) definitely check out the produce. They have a super selection and prices are reasonable 4) check out the deli and prepared foods. They make really good sandwiches and you can't go wrong with the awesome selection of cheeses. 5) if you are a wine drinker, you must take advantage of their super stocked wine section. You can find just about anything you want and in a price range to match your budget This is a great store for locals and tourists like myself. The staff is friendly and you won't beak the bank. We basically bought a week's worth of food for about $200. Not bad. read more

Very nice grocery store but no donuts at 7 am on a Saturday! They said it was too early. Disappointing Edit: tried again to get donuts at 7:30 am on a Thursday. Still no donuts!! When do they think people want to eat donuts?! For dinner? This is the second time we've tried to get donuts in the morning at a normal donut eating time and they haven't had any made yet. After countless attempts to use the order online pickup service (constant issues with rotten produce) I am hanging up with hat with Harris Teeter. Save your money and shop at Walmart market. Not only is the produce rotten at HT but I've purchased apples and heads of broccoli with BUGS inside of them. See photos. These photos were taken the very same day I got home with the food. I actually just spoke with the manager who is usually accommodating and today offered no reimbursement or replacements. For the price this quality is absolutely absurd. read more

Well... Harris Teeter finally figured out how to make me NOT drive the extra distance to shop at their store instead of the nearer competitive supermarket... They decided to stop selling what WAS probably the best seeded rye bread in coastal North Carolina. So now, I won't have to waste that extra gas...and I won't have to spend the extra money on the Boars Head pastrami or turkey to put on that delicious seeded rye. Maybe this staple of American sandwich-making isn't as popular in NC as it is farther north. But why, I ask, did they decide to continue selling organic wheat loaf, toasted sunflower honey loaf, and jalapeño cheddar cheese bread? Who would buy any of those novelty items more than once? (Oops... I forgot about the Landfall and Figure Eight ladies.) I would previously have given Teeter 3 stars. But with minus 1 star for importing their pre-packaged cut fruit from foreign countries (ugh!), and a minus 1 for over-pricing too many basic items, and now a minus 2 stars for discriminating against "Jewish" bread, HT is at their lowest possible score. Next, I have to figure out how to penalize Yelp for not allowing ratings of zero stars... Pretty inconsiderate, if you ask me. Update: Well, I have to give HT credit. They contacted me regarding my frustration over their discontinuance of seeded rye. Very nice of them, even though they may not bring back my bread. But at least they are willing to consider my feelings. So I am giving them back 1 star for good customer communication. Who knows? Maybe They'll earn 3 more.... Here's hoping. read more

Did a shopping trip here recently during a family reunion at North Topsail. I drove out in the fog and rain at night with rough directions from my brother-in-law. I was hoping to find a better selection than others had found at a closer Food Lion. After a few wrong turns and some minor hydroplaning, just as I was thinking about turning back, this HT shopping plaza suddenly rose into view out of the darkness like a lighthouse on a stormy sea. Cheesy, yes, but that's how it felt. The store was large and clean and well-lit and well organized. I found all I needed and was impressed with their selection of organics. After fielding a couple calls from back at the rental house for additional forgotten items, I went through the self-checkout line and back into the rain. As I was putting the bags into the trunk, I dropped one bag and shattered a bottle of wine. Already frustrated by how much time the trip was taking and spending more than I'd planned, I resisted kicking my shopping cart, picked up what I could, and walked back in to buy another bottle. Once in the self-checkout again I mentioned there was some broken glass in the parking lot as I showed my i.d. again for the clerk. She immediately asked if I was replacing the bottle I had broken. I said yes and she said, "I'm not going to charge you for that." I explained that it was my fault for loading the bags too full, but she insisted. Totally made my night and changed my whole attitude. A bag boy followed me out and swept up the remaining broken glass. Thank you for the unexpected graciousness. read more

I have been to this Harris Teeter before but it was a few years ago when it first opened. I must say that I am pretty impressed and find that Harris Teeter never fails me when I'm looking for items that seem strange to most! Upon walking in I noticed the store was clean and well kept. I was greeted no sooner than I entered which was awesome especially this day and time. Showing your customers you acknowledge them and wish to assist if needed is par on for me! The isles where organized and easy to find what I was looking for. The produce area was filled with fresh vegetables and fruits. The deli area which consisted of a salad bar, freshly made bread station with samples available , sushi area with someone there to make you a fresh roll if you'd like . You know there isn't to many markets you can go into that have a huge selection of beers, wines and now craft beers. I ventured into this area and again I'm amazed and still impressed with how they stock here. I ended up picking me out a local craft blonde beer that I've never tried and whoa at a great price! This particular store has it going for themselves with their employees and I for one appreciate top notch service! Thanks HT! Keep rocking it!! read more

Freaking love this place. The only problem is that they are ALWAYS out of pretzel rolls! It breaks my heart every time when I realize the pretzel roll bin is empty. This afternoon, Nov. 6, 2019, I passed HT gas pumps in Wilmington (Porter's Neck) where gas was $2.289/gal. Driving home I stopped at HT gas pumps on NC210 in Hampstead/Surf City and found gas was $2.339/gal. Mr. Store Director explained that this was the normal price in his area. While it is true the Exxon on the corner of NC17 and NC210 was $2.339/gal., this argument merely justifies ripping off HT customers since they are selling unbranded gasoline for the same price as Exxon. As I explained to Mr. Store Director, I resent being robbed and feel their robber baron gas prices do exactly that. I also explained I had not just fell off the immigrant boat--we have been shopping HT for many years; grocery, pharmacy, and gasoline. It seems now my loyalty is misplaced; so, HT can kiss goodbye to $150.00/week grocery, at least four prescriptions, and gas sales of $40-50/month even with their discount. read more

When complaining with the manager, he has way more to say and cut people off constantly, he was just gonna give credits and be done with it, no solutions that was offered to the customer such as, we will train our staff and make sure this will never happen again. sometimes it's not just about credits, its lack of proper training and customer service. Why would i want different items, or paid for items i don't need, i chose this service for the convenience, that's why i pay $5 for the service. The only reason why i give 3 stars because this location has so much to offer and its spacious. The fruit tart is not that good though. read more

Disappointed again. The food and product selection is fine. The employees in some cases, just don't seem to want to be bothered. Today for example, the guy at the meat counter, when I asked to get 1.25lb of ground meat told me "I just put meat out" and proceeded to walk down to the prepackaged meat and hand me 3 packages of ground meat. None of which were 1.25 lbs. Is it really that hard to reach into the case and give me what I asked for? Additionally, I've had cashiers check out my produce and toss it on a hard surface bruising apples, bananas, and tomatoes. I'd like to take home the quality produce that I picked out and paid for without the quality being reduced by carelessness. I pay more at Teeters than I do at Food Lion or Lowes, so I expect more. but the Surf City location is proving to be subpar. The opposite is the case at the Porter's Neck location where it is a night and day experience. read more

Normally the workers here are very kind and helpful. However, today I did not care for the interaction with management. My self-check out froze and the girl manning this area had to call over the supervisor. I was directed over to customer service who just transferred my total over. The price didn't add up with what I thought it would be (I forgot the difference in tax) and I asked for itemized list, the main reason why I like checking out at the self checkout. The supervisor got flustered and walked me back over to the self checkout to try and show me. Then my order went away (I guess due to the length of inactivity). The supervisor instructed the girl at the self-checkout to ring my stuff up again. Why the supervisor could not do it herself is beyond me. read more

I am soo happy. I found Frannies Gluten free cakes and cupcakes in their frozen bakery section. They are SO good. Such a great treat. They have whole cakes, cupcakes and brownies. I haven't been able to find them anywhere else. Choices are much better than what I found at Publix. I don't have time to bake so anything already prepared is a great choice for me. read more

Kay and Samantha have been my personal shoppers the most and I trust them to pick the best items for my family and make substitutions that are appropriate and suitable for us. This Harris Teeter has the most amazing butcher shop. We don't eat out much any more because we can get tender juicy steaks cut just the way we want them from HT. I love that they give a donation to our elementary school when I use my VIC card. Community support is something that attracts me to a business especially when shopping locally. read more
