Fun stuff, but don't look too closely and avoid any free samples. I love World Market (I've been to a few in different states I've lived in) but I don't think I'll be back to this one, especially since they sell food items. I have three children, and if you are also a parent you know their bladders are small, and you often find restrooms where you'd never expect you'd need them. We had to use the restrooms at World Market and I honestly have used inner city public park restrooms cleaner and more structurally sound than this. It was absolutely awful and I don't say that lightly. The building needs some serious upgrades. I don't see how a somewhat upscale mall area would allow such a restroom area. My small child couldn't stop saying how awful it smelled. It was hard to maneuver without potentially touching something questionable. The magic of World Market is forever gone, especially knowing people use that restroom and handle food items afterwards. read more

Anytime I'm in the Mayfair area, I go to World Market. There's lots inside to check out. Great section of international foods. Nice kitchen sections with all sorts of gadgets, plates, glasses, and other tableware. There's wall decor, lamps, clothing, a section of wines, etc. Some things are reasonably priced; others more expensive. read more

We went to the world market this weekend to do some last-minute Christmas shopping and it was busy at the Mayfair town center. I really enjoyed going to the world market and we came to shop here specifically because of their unique items. We especially love the variety of Foods from around the world to try. It was a really busy day and they were staffed well. The staff are walking around and available to help if questions arose. When checking out the line was really long but it went fast. I highly recommend checking the world market out for any occasion. They sell pretty much anything from kitchen, supplies, dishes, furniture, food decor and clothing. read more

Oh my I love this place!! I never knew about it until I saw a friend had some items and it had World Market on it. I looked it up and found that there was one in Wilmington. Walking into this store is like Christmas to me with all the beautiful things from yes all over the world! From furniture, food such a coffees,wines, beers candies, and more, dishes and the list could go on forever! The prices are shockingly reasonable for such fabulous things that you can't find in other stores. I do recommend going to their website and signing up for emails and also it's like a club thing you can get coupons! Needless to say when I left my store cart was rather full and I was pleasantly surprised at the total when I used my coupon at checkout. This is one place that I will come back too! read more

2 dogs just was saying hello to each other when an employee who looked to be a manager starts yelling across the store asking is that a service animal. Over and over. I have severe anxiety and this made me very uncomfortable. This could have been done in a more professional way than screaming like a banshee across the store. This place is beautiful! There's everything you could possibly want for your home in this store. It's very large and laid out in such a way that you'll pass through everything and think to yourself "I need one of those!" I absolutely love their home decor section. They have international food from several countries such as drinks and snacks. They also have a wonderful selection of pans, platters, and rugs. I wish I could actually afford something from this store other than a bag of jalapeño chips from Spain. I feel like the whole store is way overpriced so that's why I gave it a 4 star. read more

World Market has been one of my favorite places for years, but recently the one near us has just lost its luster. We went into this one to specifically look for a grocery item. They didn't have it, but this store made me fAll in love with WM again. I could have stayed and looked around for a lot longer than we had time to do. At some point Dick decided that his view of postmodern industrialist hegemonic imperialism can only be combated with skinny jeans and thick rimmed glasses while Jane became heavily addicted to yoga pants and Eastern mysticism. The oligarch that decided to capitalize on this cultural shift created World Market. If, as the reader, you're still there and, after rolling your eyes, you're willing to let me get off of my high horse, I'll actually do some reviewing. I liken this place to an Indian IKEA with an assortment of foreign foods and spices. The furniture is really pricey, especially since it's mostly dorm room quality. It seems like everything has a fat Buddha or a Hindi influenced elephant on or near it, and much of the the glassware has is shaped like a bohemian owl. The foreign candy and snack selection is vast, and there appears to be a decent selection of wine and microbrews. This is the only place that I have found Sriracha flavored Kettle brand chips. A foodie will definitely find something of interest here. In conclusion, my wife drags me to this place and buys lots of trinkets and goodies, packs them all into her reusable bags, and makes me carry them to the car. There are plenty of people who will really enjoy World Market, but I have yet to catch this bug. read more

For the most part my experience here was good. Not anything bad. I do think maybe the employees need to interact with customers more on the floor. But other than that the place was cleaned, didn't have to wait long, cashier was friendly, smelled amazing in there (not sure what they had that was being sprayed or put out but it was good). I love this place, i only wish there was one in NYC - all i can do is order online when i get back home! They sell a wide range of items that i personally love for myself and to give as gifts. Home decor and furnishings, food & alcohol, kitchen & bedding - they've got just about everything. World Market also sells some hard to find beer and wines from all over the world (found some Lucky Buddha beer). Very cute wine bags for gifts as well. This particular World Market has gone down hill so much since it first open, management and staff are morons and have very poor customer skills. I've been a regular customer since the store first open, and it's been getting increasingly more ridiculous to shop there. From now on, I'm just getting everything thing I need from World Market's website, I would rather pay shipping than deal with anyone in this store again. Great store! Lots of quality items with a wide and varied selection. Jewelry, furniture, gifts, gourmet foods, wine, beer, decorations, kitchen supplies - very eclectic stuff. I love browsing here for fun and usually at least buy some sort of random food item (I enjoy picking out something I have not tried before and just giving it a go). This store has been a favorite of mine for a while since it has such a unique variety of items. However, I had a terrible experience the last time I shopped there which was just a few weeks ago. Due to health reasons I am careful about places I shop at because I cannot wear a mask so I was happy to read the sign posted saying masks were required unless you have a health condition that precluded the use of a facemask. I qualify. I went in to shop, had a basket full of items and was just about to check out when a store worker, not sure if manager or what, came out from the back of the store and yelled across the store that I needed a mask to shop there. I brought up the sign posted on their window and let them know I qualified at which point he told me I needed to wear a mask or he could help me curbside, totally contrary to NC law and their own store policy. I set my basket of items down and left the store. Will not shop here again. read more

When I first moved to Wilmington, I heard people mention World Market. I work in Mayfaire, but I waited a while to check it out. I assumed that it was going to be filled with overpriced, strange objects. Was I ever wrong! This is by far my favorite place in Mayfaire. Maybe even in all of Wilmington. You never know what you'll find. I love the selection of Cadbury candies. The prices are usually very reasonable too. I can't believe I missed out for so long. read more

First time in this store was November 26, 2016, we were looking for Christmas decorations so decided to see everything they had. We got to the wine department and asked the lady at the wine sampling table about the crackers they had to sample and she refused to open her mouth and speak to us. We asked her again and she still barely nodded and refused to open her mouth. As soon as we walked away she asked other customers if they wanted samples of wine but didn't offer us any. She didn't even say hello to us. This has me not wanting to go back here no matter how much I liked their products, outside of the wine because it's too expensive. I can get the same wine from Walmart for much cheaper. Cute store but bad customer service from that wine lady. read more

I recently moved from the Washington DC area where the closest World Market was a half hour and nail-biting traffic away, so I was never able to visit very often. On the visits I did make, the Rockville store's employees were so unfriendly and rarely was I ever spoken to. I worked for World Market some years ago, so I know that failing to greet a customer and offer assistance--if not the ubiquitous grey World Market basket!--is a serious no-no. I am pleased to say, however, that the Wilmington World Market is polar opposite of the Rockville store. The staff are friendly, cheerful, willing to assist you. The store was incredibly well-stocked and organized. As always, WM has a nice mix of home furnishings and decor, plus delicious and hard-to-find domestic and imported goodies, plus an amazing selection of wine. This season's outdoor furniture is especially appealing and the new line of interior furnishings is tapping into current design trends. I know I am going to love being closer to this store! read more

Great place to shop for those unique ideas and purchases. Have bought everything from kitchen tables to dinner ideas from World Market. The staff at my Wilmington NC store is amazingly knowledgable and helpful, if I take time to remember names of the employees cause they helped me so well , you know it's a good store to shop in: Kayla, Sean, Judy ( very polite on phone when calling about my order that was ready) Morgan, Ashley, Tracy... The employee Ashley in beverage helped me find a mix of wines a year ago and to this day I trust his recommendations. The best part is he takes Time to remember what I did and didn't like as well as he remembers other customers preferences, one of the best experiences buying wine or beer which can be daunting or intimidating, that I have had. Tracy I believe is a manager and always has a smile and bright outlook...Kayla is one of the sweetest young employees I've met in retail, Sean has helped load furniture for me in the 100 degree heat and in the rain and cold, but he still has a nice attitude and demeanor. I just wish they were a touch more up to date with Wifi access to utilize rewards coupons. And most times I shop it appears these folks are short staffed for the amount of customers they are dealing with... Sometimes I really feel for them and hope some of these reviews make it to them so they know it is noticed how they are trying their hardest at a sometimes thankless position of retail. read more
