I first heard of and read about Harrison K-9 in 2010 in The Robb Report. As a full-time mother alone in my very nice home, I was often alone during the day. This concerned my wonderful husband, who, u;on reading about Harrison K-9 in The Robb Report and following up by reviewing their website, promptly decided that our family needed a Harrison K-9. Finding Harrison K-9 is a bit of driving through rural areas, but Harrison's property and facilities impressed us greatly..especially, as animal advocates. All the Herman Shepherds are raised one year in Germany, where they are born. The dogs are usually 3+ years to enable Harrison to train the dogs upon purchasing them, after inspection, in various types of training. Every..every dog we met; that is, walked on the property alone with, observed if there was a chemistry and feeling if you and the dog are a match. Harrison informs potential clients of each dog's strengths, likes, dislikes, temperament, sociability with other pets and children. The protection dogs are trained commands in the German language. I found this to be an excellent and forward-thinking part of Harrison. Any dangerous situation may be handled by the dog by speaking German while the predator has no idea what the dog is instructed to do. Upon purchase of an executive-trained Harrison K-9 Shepherd, the Shepherd (In my case) is crated and travels to its new home while a Harrison trainer flies the same flight as the dog. The dog is brought to your home by the trainer. The trainer stayed 3 days in a local hotel, and spent 4-5 hours a day with me teaching me communication with my beautiful Schutzhund German Shepherd. All purchasers of a Harrison K-9 must very seriously be aware of the dogs body language and create a strong bond with the dog. My Harrison K-9 passed away at 11/12 years old. I am responding to November's comments to my review. November knows very well who I am, but she knows my ex husband much better. I am Paris Windsor-Amano. I was married to the man whom bought Jarek from Harrison K9. Jarek was a gift to me from my ex-husband. November knows me very well since My ex and I picked up Jarek together and I have videos of our visit to post to that effect. I have also taken several trips to Harrison K9 and exchanged many emails with November (I have all emails saved to post as well). I can understand how embarrassed she must feel at this point, but she knows as well as Harrison that every word in my review is true. Thanks for offering to buy my next dog from you, but I think I just fly to Germany and get my dog directly from a reputable breeder who does not resort to intimidating tactics and abuse as you do when training his/her dogs. We purchased our first Harrison K9 dog, our stunningly beautiful, imperial, and brilliant Elsa, as an eight week old puppy back in 1988 when she became the very first dog my wife and I shared together - the first of many, many German Shepherds we adopted thereafter (most of these being rescues taken in from local rescue organizations). When our wonderful Elsa left us in 2002, we purchased our second sweet girl Nadja, in the rather distant hope she might be a little like Elsa (an ancestor of Nadja was Elsa's father, the famous Honcho, Harrison's personal dog). To our utter delight, although Nadja was different in many ways, she was just as exceptional as Elsa. Both Elsa and Nadja were truly incredible beings - these souls were both more than just dogs; each girl was a luminous personality filled with dignity, wisdom, patience, common sense, loyalty, courage, leadership, boundless energy, and a very keen sense of humor and capacity for having fun, to name only just a few of their many virtues. We are honored to have shared our lives with these amazing, noble and unforgettable family members. We were absolutely devastated by our lovely Nadja's passing this past July. I accidentally found the review by Paris. All I could think was that her grief over losing her dog triggered something to happen to her thinking! I know November well. To call them backyard breeders is far from the truth. They seldom breed any dogs. I have a female that I purchased as a puppy from them. They didn't breed her. They imported the entire litter from Germany. From a top working line breeder in Germany. Paris can't know dogs very well. They don't get hip dysplasia from being bred too early in life. It's a trait that happens to many breeds, mostly large breeds. Good breeders do their best to insure that only dogs with certified hips are bred. It still happens. I am a repeat buyer from them. I have a friend who has been a repeat buyer from them. As for "yanking on the collar", it's called a correction. I use pinch collars on my dogs and I do give corrections when needed. When they hear the collar being picked up from table, they run To me with joy and sit very excited while I put them on! They can't wait to go out and walk along with sit, down, stay and come commands. Good behavior is rewarded, poor behavior gets a correction. I've been to Harrison K9 kennel many times. I've watched them work dogs. They are good, the dogs are happy. I'm very picky about where animals go to live. I sold November a pony for her child, he has a good home. I don't know the story about the dog that bit November but I'm sure if Paris took the dog and tried her kindness way, it would have taken her down! Some have aggression and dominance. If you go to Germany or any successful trainer of large, working breeds, corrections are used. To end this, November is great! I read these reviews and found it sad that this lady lost her dog. It must have been an important part of her life. I have dealt with the staff at Harrison K-9 and found them all to be well educated and concerned about their dogs and training. I have even purchased a puppy from them for my family and they answered questions for me every time I called.I gave them five stars because being in business for so many years and pleasing so many people has to be a challenge. I hate to see a company this good get beat-up on yelp because of one upset lady. I also saw two other great ratings that got thrown out, I guess if you write nice things they are not as important to yelp as mean. read more
