The experience was absolutely terrible from start to finish. Our booking clearly listed air conditioning, a jacuzzi tub, and a lake view. What we got: No working A/C in 30+ degree weather (just a vent blowing warm air and a fireplace that made it worse) A broken jacuzzi tub (jets didn't work at all) A view of a roof and alley -- not the lake Dirty, uncomfortable furniture Poor communication from staff -- we had to repeatedly request a fan, which was never "left outside our door" as claimed No mention of parking during check-in, requiring an extra wait We asked to change rooms -- the new room was just as bad (if not worse), with no AC again, still no real view, and furniture that looked like it came from a garage sale. read more

Very dangerous!! Open windows for kids & dogs to fall out. As other reviews say, blood stained sheets, furniture & old stuff just setting next to lobby. Very scary parking lot across from hotel. If we had not have gotten a refund & left, our car surely would have gotten broken into. Very hot hotel, only a few tiny window air conditioners. Paid $150 which included parking but there was none available so we had to park on the street. Hotel is shabby inside and out- elevator creaked terribly. Room was ok and bed was ok not great - lumpy pillows . Furniture was beat up and damaged as was the tub and walls. Peeling wallpaper. Threadbare carpet in the hall. Walls damaged . The air conditioner was a portable one with the hose just tossed out the window so the window was left open, not even fitted into the opening and rain pouring in lol. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL EVER - EVEN IF IT IS THE LAST HOTEL ON EARTH! IF I could I would give this hotel a rating - 10!!!! Horrible in every way! My partner and I planned our first romantic weekend together for months - and this horrible hotel ruined it entirely! The pictures that are posted online on Expedia, Hotels.com or any other site are completely inaccurate. The hotel is in horrible shape, shabby, dirty and the rooms are not equipped or decorated at all like they advertise. Worst of all, on a hot summer day (27 C) of our precious long weekend, the hotel's air conditioning was not working. The owner/manager cowardly departed the front desk when we and other couples came to complain. The in-house restaurant was closed, dirty, and cob webbed. The koi pond was filthy, green and full of algae - the poor fish are choking in the gross water. The carpeting was shredding and not properly installed, often unevenly protruding under doors! We tried to use the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, a huge black disgusting bug shot out of one of the jets. The walls are filthy, dented, and there are rips and stains on the wallpaper. The dust ruffle on our bed was stained with who-knows-what, frankly we did not want to guess, it was so gross. Ok. Older. Not fancy. But, our room is clean, quiet. nice view. beds are okay. we paid $ 80. and then $ 10. for underground parking if we had stayed at the H.H.S.R. , we would have paid $ 300. After reading some not so great reviews on Trip Advisor - I came here with fairly low expectations. However I was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by Virginia who was friendly, nice and very courteous. We were given free underground parking which was a plus. We were also given our choices of room. We decided on a newly renovated one that had 2 queen sized beds. The room had fresh paint in a soothing light mint color. The carpet and drapes were both new. As was the flat screen TV . The bathroom has a Jetted jacuzzi tub and the toiletries were San Francisco Soap Company in sugared citrus, and lots of towels. The beds were super comfy ( I didn't want to get up ! ) The room also has a fridge & microwave which is nice. All the staff has been friendly & helpful. The jacuzzi on the fourth floor lounge was clean but a bit too hot. Never tried the sauna or steam room . The lounge also has sofas and TV if you want to hang out. There is also a workout room / gym. The location is also good, it's close to the lake, across from the public pool, and gas station / store. You can also walk to the pub, the liquor store and the other food store. I would defiantly recommend this place for a relaxing get away. read more

This hotel is very old and you can tell by the low overall quality. The beds are comfortable and the staff is nice but that's about the only positives this place has. The place feels dirty and run down, the showers take awhile to get hot, the bathroom door hits the toilet so you can't fully open the door, the toilet paper and tissues provided are very low quality, and the room I was given had unpainted parts of the wall as if it was in the middle of renovation. I would pick a different hotel if you want quality. read more

So we stayed two nights here over the weekend. We chose this place because it was significantly cheaper than the neighboring resort and its close proximity to restaurants and activities which was a plus. The room itself was relatively clean unless you really inspected the tile along the walls in the bathroom. The bed was clean and furniture in the room was dust free. The minuses we encountered was the fact the AC was inoperative which was a minor inconvenience since it was only in the 70s. Im sure on a hot 90 degree day it would be miserable. The refrigerator worked but the freezer had so much frost in it, it would only hold one bottle if water. There was no maid service during our stay which is something we can deal with for one or two nights. In my opinion any hotel should have daily service. All in all we enjoyed our stay as we went into this place with low expectations. The staff were friendly during check in and check out with no issues there. You have the choice to park in the basement for an extra fee for out back in the rear parking lot which is what we did and had no issues. read more

Our room had a king bed ... at home I have a queen, so we were spoiled by the king size! Our window faced the lake, so we had a great view. Parking provided is free. More things don't work in this hotel then work. Everything is a yah but. Tears in the wallpaper in the hallway, garbage on the floors. Elevator hasn't been properly cleaned in years and is slow like it's not going to make it. Have a Fitness club but no bike, and the treadmill is broken. The room is uninviting with worn out furniture, mattress on it last saggy legs and a fireplace that is broken down. I asked for repairs and cleaning and not surprisingly nothing was done. When we initially booked thru booking.com we thought it was part of the resort. When we arrived it was incredibly disappointing to know this is not the case. The hotel on booking is listed as a 4 star, but it is a three star at best. The hotel gives public swimming passes, so you may not access the hot springs resort pool. It is located within good walking distance of the beach but charges an inflated rate, and other than a bed. There is not much else to say about the hotel or its amenities. read more

This hotel was filthy from the carpets to the bathroom. The tub had a rubber non slip mat in it that was growing mold underneath (I asked to have it cleaned; they cleaned it) and the tub was dirty too. The toilet seemed to be leaking between the tank and the base resulting in grossness between the base and the floor, and also dirty around the toilet seat hinges. The sink cabinet was VERY water damaged where it sat on the floor (the front kick plate looked like it was rotting away). Where the boxspring sat on the base there were sharp bars sticking out on one of the beds. If there were rooms available at another hotel we would have left. A rating of '1' is generous. read more

Stayed for 2 nights and my experience was just okay for the price. Building is quite old so piping in the room was making hissing noise whenever someone else is using shower in other rooms. I couldn't control the air conditioning other than the temperature and the lowest was 16C. It was not the most effective air conditioning so it was kind of hot most of the time. King size bed was nice and firm, which I loved but pillows sucked(extremely soft) so I recommend anyone to use this hotel bring their own. Furniture needs to be updated, they're really old but I could see them really trying to keep it clean so that's something. Ice machine wasn't working the whole time and not only that, it kept beeping really loudly which was really annoying. Fridge wasn't cold enough to make drinks crispy cold, which was much needed in this heat(35C). Not having working ice machine didn't help this. I stayed there for 2 nights but no housekeeping came so nothing was cleaned up. Service was not superb but not the worst, it's just average. Lobby was air conditioned really nicely which made me feel very welcomed. Well lit, had nice couches to sit around. They had 2 elevators and both working smoothly, which is always appreciated in my mind. They also have restrooms on the same floor which is great and I loved it. That's about it. read more

"Totally disappointing" We had reserved to stay for 3 nights, via Expedia, in one of the queen rooms that showed 'Lake View" against it, based on the room photos and information that was available online. The photos are deceptive (only thing, they have recently changed "lakeview' to "assessible") since the middle section of the hotel does not have proper windows; they are small and half shut permanently, can't open them even when the air-conditioning is mostly not working. The rooms were smelly and dingy; the TV is a small flatscreen but kept in closed wooden antique type cabinet, which offers handful of very very BASIC channels. Deceptive advertising of the first kind! Moreover, one of the front desk female staff is rude and unhelpful. We decided to cancel remaining 2 nights and leave the following day itself. Seeing the state of the hotel, we wanted to return home to Vancouver, BC the same afternoon we had checked in. Stay elsewhere if you have decent expectations and save your money! read more

This place looked a lot better online. You kind of get a feeling walking into this place that it is way past its glory days and is now falling apart. It smelled bad and the water tasted awful! (I went to the resort to get water which had the best tasting water I've ever had). The customer service was very friendly. I kind of felt bad for them. It seemed like this hotel was a top notch hotel at one point and the service was still there but there was no money to update or repair the hotel. My boyfriend and I booked the Ramada for one night here hoping to have a relaxing little getaway from the city. When we arrived the place looked alright from the outside. Dated but not bad. We had to wait a significant amount of time to check in a good 15-20 minutes while one employee dealt with the lineup another could be seen in the back watching and hanging out... Then we pulled our car into the parkade. Ick! Gross old tubs, carpeting and couches took up a vast amount of the spots and were a definite eye soar. Maybe acceptable for cheap motel, but at $120 a night, this place isn't a steal of a deal or anything. We went upstairs and decided to check out the hot tub first since we heard the guy at front desk informing the people in front of us where it was located. Being on our floor, we took a look. Out of service with a green water filling it, I was NOT impressed. Lastly our room. Smelled awful of alcohol and made me nauseous upon entering. Needless to say, we did not end up staying...and promptly left to snag one of the last rooms at the hotel across the way. read more

I was a bit worried at first, I had booked a room but read some 'reviews. Some were good but some were not so good. I decided to take a chance and I'm glad I did. My wife and son and I were there for 2 nights and 3 days. The room was nice the staff was great. We actually arrived a bit early and had to wait just a while but were given a room early. Nice after a long hot drive. The only problem was the tv didn't work, but I called the front desk, within 10 a guy had been sent up and the tv was fixed and working fine. Harrison Lake Hotel is the second largest hotel in Harrison Hot Springs after the big (and pricey) Harrison Hot Springs Resort. The Harrison Hot Springs Resort houses 355 guests while the Harrison Lake Hotel houses 88 guests. You might be tempted to stay here thinking the second largest hotel must be good, too. DON'T. Like others have recently confirmed, this place is broken down and filthy. At first, we were grateful for the small fridge in our room since we have kids and needed somewhere to store their food. When it kicked on in the middle of the night, however, it sounded exactly like those whining alarm clocks at the Best Western: loud and obnoxious. The fridge woke us up every 40 minutes throughout our first night. The sheets on the pullout bed were dirty, as were the sheets on the King bed. There were no extra blankets or pillows for the pullout bed. The King bed was of such poor quality that I woke up with a different backache each day I stayed there. There was a very small amount of toilet paper in the bathroom, and no hand soap (we washed our hands with the two shampoo bottles that were left). Our bathroom didn't have enough towels for the number of guests staying there. The glass carafe for the coffee maker was dusty and coffee stained. The couch and chair in our room were extremely uncomfortable to sit on, and the rest of the furniture was in dire need of updating. We were very disappointed the sauna/hot tub area was closed for renovations. For the positives: both the elevators were working, and the front waiting area looked nice and clean. The staff at the hotel and in the adjacent restaurant were very sweet and pleasant. We stayed here for the included public pool passes, which for us was a $120CAN savings. The pool and lake are nice, but next time we'll be staying at the resort. read more

We spent a night here back in February and what a mistake that was! We bought a deal for a one night stay including a $20 spa credit and $20 meal voucher for the restaurant adjoined to the hotel. Upon arriving the man at the desk advised us the restaurant and spa were closed for the season (even though the voucher states it is open all year-round) .. off to a bad start already.. we took our luggage up to the room on the 3rd floor. The room was smelly and dingy looking - nothing like how they advertise their rooms to be on the website! The worst part of this experience was there was NO HEAT in the room we froze all night long even with extra blankets!! After complaining many times the heat was never fixed and they refused to offer us another room or a discount! and let me not forget to mention the hot tub is full of sludge and slime! So disgusting I don't even know why the health board does not shut down this place! It is filthy! Stay anywhere else in Harrison! Avoid this DUMP at ALL COSTS! read more

My experiences in harrison when it comes to hotels have never been great, even at the Harrison resort itself, but this takes the cake. My friend and I stayed after the July rush for the first week of August and it felt like they were still trying to clean up after the busy season. We checked in early, around 2, with the hotel clerk giving us the wrong key and room (as we were parking underground, clarified and promptly gave us the right key). Unfortunately, when we got into the room, their were literal dirty black socks on the floor near the tv stand and the bathroom sink looked like it had leftover vomit pieces in it. Yes, leftover puke. A black ring around the bathtub as well as a dirty floor. Later on, we noticed that no coffee or whitener were available and after a couple of times trying to get housekeeping we finally were able to get downstairs hotel clerk to bring some up. Oh you think its over, no, the hot tub, sauna and steam room were out of commission and thankfully we were given passes to use the mineral pool down the street. The air conditioning constantly kept blowing ice cold air, even when i turned up the heat in the room. the entire hotel seems unkept and utterly unpleasant to feel comfortable staying at, even the restaurant/cafe downstairs my friend decided to check out for dinner did not even have certain foods available to order. I can't give a review without putting a star unfortunately, or else it would be -100. It really is sad because it looks like its on its last legs, like they are deliberately trying to get rid of this hotel.The only ONLY thing i can say positively is that those who do work there are accomodating and helpful but clearly look exhausted and done with the place as much as I am. Amongst other reasons I will never come to Harrison again. read more

I'd consider this a 3star property with nice, updated rooms, very helpful staff and owner, great location and best price for the quality in town. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! If you like BLOOD STAINED SHEETS this is the place for you! Planned a nice getaway in the honeymoon suit at the Harrison Lake Hotel. We waited 45 mins past check in time cause apparently housekeeping was still cleaning our room but oh we will give you $15 off your bill... then 11pm we pull back the sheets to go to bed to discover blood stains on the bedsheets!!! Absolutely disgusting! Went to the front desk to complain and were told that housekeeping had gone home but they'd do there best... so we went for a 30min walk on the beach. When we got back they had done nothing. Just said they were moving us to another room. So there we are 11:30pm at night hauling our stuff from the honeymoon suit to the otherside of the hotel to there basic room. It was clean at least. Was told the manager would be there in the morning. But when we checked out and asked to speak to him he wasn't there she didn't know when he'd be there... for blood stained sheets we will give you $75 off... So after this horrible experience we got a $90 discount but still charged us for honeymoon suit we didn't even sleep in!! Never coming back. read more
