I love this place. Never had any problems with anything. Registration was easy as well as registering for classes. My student advisor Grisel Sanabria is honestly the Best! She helped me in a lot of ways and I could not appreciate it enough. All the stuff was always friendly and helpful whenever I came in. They offer internships, grants and past semester they lowered their tuition. You can attend classes in person or online. And English as a second language is available as well. They also help you transfer to a four year institution and have events and stuff for that, as well as list of colleges they work with. Teachers and educated, helpful and attentive (I'm sure not all of course, but I am speaking purely from my own experience). I've been there for a year so far and very satisfied with my experience.

Across the street from Truman College's entrance is the lovely "Blood Alley" at Clifton and Wilson.

I think the three words of "Chicago City College" explains it enough. What comes to mind right off the batt is exactly what you get. Basically a shady high school without the lockers (and "Blood Alley" being directly in front of the entrance doesn't help any). The majority of the employees who hoard the Registrars, Payment, and Advising offices are super rude and not helpful one bit. (I don't think it's just the pay that makes them this way if you know what I mean...). You will continually be going in circles. As for the teachers, they're mediocre. I could go on and on about the Associates in Nursing program... The important thing to know about the application process is the first time you apply you automatically won't get in. Even though the program has basically four prerequisites (English, Mathematics, Biology 101 and Chemistry Calculations) they want you to take as many courses at Truman in the scientific field to make more money off you (organic chemistry, anatomy/physiology, nutrition, medical terminology, to name a few). It does not matter what experience or prior education you bring to the decision process. The program itself is adequate according to those who have taken it, however, it is known that the grand majority of the students who finish the program do not pass the HESI the first or even second time. FINAL WORDS OF WISDOM: Only if you're looking for reasonably priced prerequisites to transfer elsewhere for a Bachelors or Masters degree would you dare to go here. To put everything in perspective: "Graduation Rate: 7%; Retention Rate: 44%; Transfer Rate: 42%" (FAFSA website). Said!

Two things that frustrate me about Truman College is that the Library employees have no backbone! Students come in and make all types of noises, and nothings enforced. When I come in here to do work, I always think to myself "Is this a library or not?". From my knowledge libraries are supposed to be quiet, with no loud giggles, humming, chatter, or singing your favorite song. Nothing is enforced, and I've seen a student get kicked out, because he confronted a loud student. Pretty foul huh? But that is how the system works. The only libraries I've been in on CCC campuses, that enforce the quiet rule are Harold Washington, and Kennedy King. My other frustration is the writing lab is totally unorganized. Walk ins normally get the short end of the stick, and they will leave you waiting if you don't remind them. If you set a appointment, make sure you follow up on it, because they will have you all mixed up. Other than these two things the other things are fine at this campus.

The companies that I've worked for, always had DePaul alumni - several throughout leadership. I also have many family members and friends who've gone their for their undergrad or graduate level studies. Legal, business, and the Social Sciences - these are their strengths. Their other strength is the vast DePaul network, especially in the Chicagoland area. Their film school is also making itself known, year after year. Recently, they've tried to make it more affordable to attend the school, through various grants and scholarships. Also, they've done away with the SAT/ACT requirement - I really don't know how that's going to work? Lincoln Park is a great area to dorm and the women's basketball team is a perennial NCAA contender. It's quite pricey so choose your major wisely. Go Blue Demons!!

Parking is a little tough and heavy permit-only, but I always managed to find free parking for the evening courses. It is all about the royal blue and scarlet and the Blue Demons here!

You have been warned I have seen people travel far and wide from all over the country to flunk out. The DEMSN program is a pure scam I got kicked out and was on the border of my exam grade with an 80% do not go here its stressful and for white people.

It pains me to write this review. I was brought up by a "letter writer," but I feel compelled to…read morewarn my peers. This program has been a nightmare. The entire cohort has been miserable. There are continual conflicts in information. Professors talk to the students (mostly at least mid-life age of students) as though they are middle school students. There is an email every two weeks that goes out stating that you have not attended class--accusations of academic misconduct (for telling a child not to enter the room during an exam). Proven by monitor and proctor, that was all that was said. It is very emotionally exhausting. AI is a better option for a 100% virtual experience. I taught in higher education at a prestigious School of Nursing and have a great frame of reference. Most of us have 2-3 degrees from traditional in-person schools and have been successful in our healthcare profession for decades. I will not bore you with details of my experience; I would say do your due diligence. This post-grad FNP program was super expensive, and the experience has been a nightmare, for lack of a better term. I despise putting this negative energy in the world, but please know you have been warned. The gap in providers will only continue to worsen. Nurses are eating young and old:( I have receipts... D

Why not continue my tradition of reviewing libraries? This time, it's an academic library. The…read moreRichardson library, located on DePaul's Lincoln Park Campus, is beautiful and a really great campus space. It was named after John Richardson, DePaul's president from 1981-1993 and chancellor 1993-2017. There are of course plaques honoring him at the entrance, but perhaps my favorite thing is that there's a framed copy of the title page and first page of manuscript of a mixed voice and instrumental piece that was written in his honor. I'd love to hear it played sometime! The library is very large and its four floors are dedicated to varying activity--the first and second are collaborative floors where you can speak regularly, with the third and fourth floor being quiet floors. Lots of windows let in a good deal of natural light, and there are clusters of comfy chairs scattered around the place. There are a few meeting rooms on the first floor, at least, and of course computer workstations available. There are also a few spaces where students can share their work on a larger screen to work from together. Also really cool is the artwork by the faculty of the department of art, media, and design is installed throughout the library. I'm glad that when I was most recently in the library it was spring break and I was the only one there, so I could look at the pieces without bothering others. Staff are very friendly--librarians love to help! During the pandemic (still, anyway, as of March 2022), you must use your ID card in order to swipe into the library.

The staff has done a great job maintaining this building constantly throughout the day. Although WiFi is not offered to the public, the space enables people to get studying or any sort of readings done in test-like conditions. The hours are very flexible and the lighting is stimulating. I think a lot of students and visitors would agree that this library is SUPER COLD during the summer. I bring a north face or a hoodie to cover my body and sensitive ears. It's understandable that's the case to maintain the books but at times, it is a bit unbearable to keep on working. I love the heat they put on during the cold winters!!
