Bad experience lotta teachers are rude and disrespectful to kids. The classrooms and bathrooms are very nasty. There is also a lot of fights that happen on a daily basis. Overall would not send my child here. read more

So far my children haven't had any issues here, there are some teachers who are rude and apparently seem unhappy and frustrated with their career choice, but most of the staff I have interacted with have been great friendly and very supportive. read more

Truman is a very bad school please do not send your child here mr.wool-ridge doesn't do anything and there's a-lot of fights every month and if your child has been in a lot of drama before and she or he gets in a drama which wasn't his fault they will not believe them and they will believe the child that barley gets into drama and the teachers are rude. this school is very draining towards the students read more

Truman Middle School is a fine school with a caring teachers, counselors. Many give the school a bad rap, but it isn't. Much of the problems come from the kids who attend and are fighting and bullying each other and the teachers. I want to learn but students don't listen to what the teachers tell them to do and then teachers get a bad rap. I read about Mrs. Avina and she is good. She is strict, but cares. She wants you to learn. I think those who write bad things about her didn't like her bc they didn't listen. read more

Truman is a very toxic environment for children. The Principal and staff have allowed such barbaric behaviors and have basically created their own fight club allowing numerous fights amongst students on a daily basis. I have spoken to the Principal on multiple occasions regarding the physical violence. Dr Sandler and Mrs. Colleen simply do not care. As a parent I'm sickened by the lack of protection these children have , everyday they have to look over their shoulder in fear of being attacked in the halls, at lunch , at PE and even in the classroom while the teacher is present and just watching!!!! Schools have a legal obligation to provide a safe learning environment to mentor our children but this school has failed for many years and takes zero responsibility! Their consequences for fights are "Restorative Discipline" A system set up to make it seem as though they are actually taking action but in reality it makes the problem worse and proves once again they cannot and will not protect your child from being attacked, they will in fact place your child and the attacker in a confined room with a counselor and just gaslight the whole situation. The situations our children face today shape them into the adults they become. Being subjected to such hostile , toxic and violent behaviors on a daily basis day after day can and will create emotional damage... which in worst cases result in suicide. read more

As a former student of this school I can not tell you a single good thing about it that genuinely made a positive impact on my life. We all expect school to be a positive environment where students are able coexist while simultaneously having the opportunity to learn and thrive right? Well you're sadly mistaken at Truman as students don't really care to learn from their classes but rather bicker at their peers and constantly threaten to fight. There will always be someone to bully your child no matter what the circumstances are which creates an unsafe atmosphere as your child now has to watch their backs. Especially at this point in life where children are emotionally unstable it just asks for more problems down the road. If you do complain to the office you can forget it as they don't do much regarding bullying at all. The most they might do is ask that you keep your child home while the bully's talk to the counselors which basically results in nothing being done. The staff are rude and incompetent to students as well so really it feels like no one is willing to help at all. The teachers aren't much help either as there's nothing done if you report anything to them. There are even teachers who are willing to pick on your child as well. Mrs. Avina would pick on me often times by calling me out in class for simply doing as little as smiling because she'd suspect me of doing something. She would also send me out of class on a task only to check my desk for anything that would make me look bad (things such as a notes to pass to students) then reprimand me when she did find something that really wasn't even mine. This created a uncomfortable and stressful environment for me because I knew everything I'd do would be seen as reason for her to punish me and exclude me from fun things that was meant for the entire class. There is also a big drug and vaping issue within the school as students are vaping in school grounds. Your child will be exposed to smoke from other kids as they often hide out in the bathrooms or near school grounds so parents be careful. Overall I do not recommend this school at all, it only makes for a traumatic school experience. read more

School is disgusting I come here staff are rude especially Ms Colleen. Some girl wanted to fight me so when I went to report her to the office they didn't do anything about it. They kept on defending her non stop. Once she tried fighting me they hid me but they kicked me out of choir and Kept her in there. Teachers are so disrespectful. Last year in 6th grade there was a dso named Ms Vanessa there was a fight and she slapped one of the girls hugs to make them stop fighting. Gym room especially the bleachers are so disgusting. Now Ms yahya is one of the worst teachers ever she yells for no reason if someone forgets there laptop calls dso. They honestly don't care about there students. First of all this school is not a safe environment for children. Drugs are in this school since my child has told me all about it. She gets bullied and often random kids want to fight her. She doesn't do anything but doesn't want any trouble but these girls need to calm their attitude down because they almost fought her but good thing I got there before anything happened. And not to mention that on instagram there are accounts involving kids using the restroom. The restroom should be a private place for students. These accounts need to stop. Second of all the staff. Especially Ms Avina. She puts her hands on kids. My daughter witnessed it all. She tells kids that they will become farmers like there family. Also the way she dresses. My daughter was saying how uncomfortable she was since Ms Avina was wearing tight tight leggings to the point where you can see her under pants. My daughter has also been telling me that her room has a foul oder in it. She can not breathe when it comes to her class. She is very rude to her students and has an attitude towards them for no reason. Lastly Ms streetmeiter. Last year she wouldn't let the kids out just because others were being rude. My daughter told me that a kid tried to get out but she pushed them back but when he touched her she acted like the victim. Ms streetmeiter was also extremely rude just because one kid didn't follow one rule. My daughter came home crying because she would do all her work in math but she only had a C- even though all of her work was perfect. She would drag kids to the other room just for disrupting her class because he needed to use the restroom. But if the kids didn't do one thing she wanted them to she would call the DSO to come drag them out and stay in the principal office! Over all this school is really bad. Unless you want your kid to start vaping at a young age because of the 8th GRADERS! And ALOT of kids have fought there to the point where a kid passed out! Not a good school! Avoid having Mrs. Avina as your child's science/history teacher. My sister was placed in her class in the 2019-2020 school year and she would have to come and tell us something new about this teacher everyday. What bothered us the most was that she said that all of her students in the classroom are lazy and will end up working in farms just as their parents/ ancestors. Personally I fount this to be extremely rude because a school environment should make you feel motivated through positivity but Mrs. Avina never did so. Additionally, it was extremely rude of her to say that about any children's family. Mrs. Avina knows little to nothing about any children and should not be able to make such slurs towards any student! That is extremely rude! If she wants to be rude to children, then maybe she shouldn't be a teacher. read more

ok i would like to talk about miss Avina my child is currently in her class right now and sometimes he comes home mad because miss Avina was very rude to him and that teacher once emailed me saying my son was tardy but one of his friends had told me that he wasn't apparently that he was knocking at the door but she did not go and open the door also she is very rude to her whole class so please don't send your child to her class the rest of the school is fine but please avoid sending them to her class please and thank you read more
