The staff is kind here, and the advice they give is sound. Everybody is super patient (thank you,Hind!), which is especially remarkable considering how busy the place is. The eye exam was incredibly thorough - and I have absolutely no doubt that I am in good hands here. What's more, Linda was super helpful when it was time for me to pick a pair of glasses. It took her minutes to find several options that looked and felt good on me, which is in and of itself incredible since I have never been able to find a pair of glasses that I was truly happy with. But what makes Linda so special is that she could have easily convinced me to buy the most expensive pair of glasses I could afford, but instead she helped me make a decision I would be happy with in the long run. I wish there were more people like her around, with lots of experience and lots of common sense. I know I will be back to this place and I understand why they have been around forever. read more

I've been going to Harry touch for ten years or more . years ago they were more friendly and custome service positive . the two men that work there the owner and another man are very kind . I have to admit since they have new location and second shop they seem to have become a snobby elitist place . I am treated like I am not important when I go in . I have to purposely dress fancy or I get ignored . once I didn't buy right away in the day I went to find glasses . at first upon arrival , I was followed closely for an hour while the pushy very agressive lady salesperson followed me very annoying. when I said I wasn't buying today I was ignored and the staff looked mad . very snobby very commission driven . when I go to pick up my contacts or anything I'm treated as if I'm an inconvenience no smiles no chatting . makes you feel like a lower class citizen going there . do better you guys make people not want to come to your business. sad for such a long time Montréal business . read more

I come here mainly because they have the best selection of Moscot frames in the city. They will also happily transfer stock from one location to another to make things more convenient for you. Are you ready for one of those unbelievable " it only happens once in a lifetime" spooky intuition stories? I came in here one day after having spontaneously booked an eye appointment. I remember being taken aback at how through the exam was overall. I passed all the tests without an issue, and was told I had 20/20 vision. Most optometrists would have left it at that and sent me on my way. But Michael had a gut feeling that all wasn't as it should be. He requested we run a few more tests just to be sure... and it turns out his gut instinct was spot on, and I had a partially detached retina. This could have caused blindness within a matter of weeks as it was so unusually placed. Its placement also meant it wouldn't have been picked up by the standard examination lot's of other optometrists provide. He then was able to procure a meeting with me on the SAME day with a specialist across town, who then booked a operation the following day. All I can say is that due to Michaels intuition and impeccable examination process we avoided me losing my sight in one eye, which would have been pretty terrible! So yes, 100% recommended!! read more

Not exactly the best customer service, four employees at the time of my visit, two helping other customers, the other two just puttering around and ignoring other customers. When the elderly woman with short gray hair bothered to talk to me she showed no interest whatsoever in what I had to say, she was rather dismissive, as though she had better things to do than doing business with me. I brought a new prescription for progressive lenses, I wanted to reproduce the prescription on a pair of rimless glasses I have already, using the same frame and just looking briefly at the written prescription she answered it was $500 just for the lenses, which is ridiculous and absurd since they offer progressive glasses for half of the price including the frame. Harry Toulch and his orchestra can take their dismissive and arrogant attitude and shove in their pockets. I'll be spending my money somewhere else. read more

Wanted some smart lookin' new frames so strolled in here before a session at Le Réservoir next door. I saw one pair that I loved, but they were a bit pricey. The sales woman was nice enough to tell me that if I came back on the weekend, there was a sale starting and I could get them for a better price: score. Came back on Saturday afternoon and the place was hopping: people everywhere, dogs yapping, sales people scurrying around and me standing in the middle, salivating over the frames of my dreams that were now 150$ cheaper than 4 days prior. Amid the chaos, I was helped within 1 minute by a guy with a smiling face and I didn't feel rushed at all. I tried them on one last time, handed over my prescription and was told that they could be ready in 20 minutes: whaaaaaat? I paid, they took some measurements and I went for a quick pint next door. Came back 20 minutes later, and the same red dog was still yapping, people were everywhere and they had my glasses ready: they fit perfectly, people compliment them constantly and I will definitely come back here again. I went in to get progressives. Picked my glasses up; they seemed to be ok for reading and distance, so i paid up because i was in a hurry. Put them on the next morning at work, and discovered that they'd been made incorrectly. When i looked at a sheet of printed text, the text curved up along the edges of my vision; and i could NOT focus on my computer screen. So now i had a $400+ pair of glasses that were useless. Went in and explained the issues to Toulch; sounding flustered and acting evasive, he kept insisting that the glasses were fine... i just didn't know how "to use them properly." I said, no, i've had progressives before, so its not me; the lenses are botched. We argued for about 20 minutes in the middle of the store, with him doing everything but admitting that they'd messed up. Finally, he wore me down with his nonsensical arguments (ie. if i tilted my head back and look out the bottom of the lenses, i could focus on my computer screen, so what was the problem?). Eventually, just wanting to get out of there, I agreed to have them put regular reading lenses back in and he'd knock $200 off the price. After i left, i realized that was not ok; that i'd been bullied into paying for HIS mistake. Why should i pay $200 for NOT getting what i wanted/going back to what i had to start with? Since i had them put the lenses in my existing frames, i wasn't even getting new frames -- just the same lenses i'd had when i came in. I called him the next morning and had another 45 minute argument, with him making all kinds of crazy excuses about why i was wrong, but i stood my ground. I told him i wanted him to put my original lenses back in, and give me a complete refund. He said he would, but yelled at me, telling me that i was the worst, most impossible customer he'd ever had. I couldn't believe that he just wouldn't accept that he'd messed up. Aside from being utterly unprofessional, his treatment towards me was just bizarre. read more

I've been here twice over 2 years for eye exams and new frames. Both times I've been thrilled with the service provided. Friendly, courteous staff. Service is efficient but not rushed. They're happy to take their time helping you select your glasses and I love that they aren't afraid to give you their opinion, while still respecting yours when it differs (that said, both of the times I've gotten new frames the taste of the women who helped me has been on point, so I'm inclined to listen to them). There was no pressure at all to pick more expensive glasses - they took me through the discount rack without my having to ask, in addition to the higher end frames. I also emailed them once to ask for my prescription (I wanted to buy cheap backup glasses online in case I ever lost mine) and they were quick to reply with a copy. I mention this because I've heard of other optometrists seeming reluctant to send you your prescription. Good people at Harry Toulch. read more

I have to start by saying that I get that optometrist want to sell glasses but I went there for an eye emergencie. Was charged for two eye exams requested by the doctor and had to pay for a pair of contacts as "contact fitting" where everywhere else the pair (they don't even pay for, lets be honest they are free samples given by the cie) are not charged to you. The owner looked down on me when I asked for my written prescription. I didn't want to buy my glasses there and to be honest with you, I paid for 2 exam so give me my prescription. The doctor was amazing loved her. Just hated their business practices. Unless my eyes are going to fall out I would never go back there! Lots of fuss fit nothing. Very cheap high end and bad service. If I could rate the doctor herself would rate 10. She even mentioned to the owner I had already paid for exam and they still double charged me read more

MIchael Toulch is the sweetest, most brilliant optometrist I've ever had the good fortune to meet. If you're a brokeback bohemian, he'll go out of your way to make it work for you. But he's no pushover. I'm not saying he'll give you a free pair of glasses. He will, however, do his best to work with your budget and what he thinks is best for your needs, which he truly listens to. He knows what's right for you, and he'll help you make it happen. He hooked me up with the most amazing pair of prescription movie star shades of all time -- for much less than everyone said it would cost. He took my requests into consideration and cut and colored the lenses like a genius (even though the so-called lens experts said it couldn't be done). I recommend him and his store wholeheartedly. read more

I purchased frame and lenses for $650 from Toulch. After two years, the frame broke in a way that is unusable, not being able to hold one lens at all. Toulch's solutions included buying a replacement part of the frame for $250.00 or buying a new frame and new lenses. The manufacturer suggested that the lenses could have been cut to the wrong size. Toulch offered to examine the eyeglasses, but this offer resulted in nothing, as to date, Toulch has kept my eyeglasses and money. From a different retailer, I purchased new frame and lenses for less than $90. That is less than 1/7 the price paid at Toulch. These new glasses have not broken yet in over a year and I still have them in my possession. read more

I had a really excellent experience with Harry Toulch. They have a vast selection of frames in a range of styles and prices. The people there are friendly, kind, and helpful. When I bought a pair of $100 frames (and had lenses installed), they were flexible about taking my out-of-country insurance, and it seemed like they were always trying to help me out in terms of price and convenience. And when I broke those same glasses almost a year later, they replaced the entire frames free of charge. In my experience, their service is quick and reliable, they call promptly when your glasses are ready, and seem to have their customers' best interests at heart. read more
