As for the staff, Carolyn was incredibly helpful and flexible while getting everything set up and perfectly catered. Jason was outstanding as our instructor and MC. His trivia between cocktails was fun and genuinely informative, and he took extra time to walk us through what to watch for when buying different tiers of liquor. We all walked out of there wanting 100% blue agave tequila with ....no additives! A fantastic experience all around and one I would happily recommend :)

The atmosphere is beautiful, and the classes themselves are engaging and well-structured. Our instructor, Ryan, brought both expertise and personality--he not only knew the history behind what we were learning but also made the entire experience fun and memorable. It was a great balance of learning and laughter, all in a welcoming and stylish environment.

Don't do it. 350…read moredollars (2005 price) later, you will neither feel that you have been through any type of school whatsoever...nor will you be a bartender. The program involves semi-abusive training in "classic bahhhh" from a cranky old missus who insisted that the classiest restaurant in Boston was a steakhouse that saw its heyday out in the '70s along with the disco era and angeldust. We barely practiced with the fake range of liquors behind a fake bar. The missus and her bartender slaves did teach us how to eyeball a liquid ounce into a highball glass full of ice, but I think I inadvertently mastered that during freshman year of college. The most interesting part was learning about all the different families of hard liquors and their manifestations in cocktails that no one has ordered since the first James Bond movies came out...but this is an education that can be gained from the local library or some light googling if you have a passion for booze. One other slight value to the course was bar safety training. For some reason, it was the first time I realize that bartenders intentionally ignore your demands for more drinks if you've been given the "red light" (can't pick change off of the table, excessively friendly to waitstaff - hahaha). This has changed my worldview to some extent as I now mask any effects of alcohol if I want to get more. But anyway, if you want to become a bartender, you have to beat the streets and get lucky or get lucky and know someone who has an in. Then, you learn on the job. I'm sure this is common knowledge, but in case anyone was as naive as I was in the summer of 2005...because this 4th floor center is all too cleverly located near I-93 to capture the "tuitions" of country mice...

The only positive thing to come out this school was the constant practice from making the drinks…read moreover and over again with colored water. The curriculum is old and outdated. You watch a home made wine video which tells you to pour "about this much into a glass" and doesn't give specifics, and you watch an old budweiser video on how to pour a beer. The classroom itself is outdated. The teacher also tells you one thing, then does another because "she has a ton of experience" so she feels she doesn't need to show everyone the right way. The worst part is they advertise that they can get you a job when you graduate but you don't get any follow up emails or phone calls. I have emailed my instructor multiple times and have not heard back. Save your money and do not go to this school. You can learn the same thing from flash cards at your home.
