Above and Beyond Catering (ABC) was a good vendor. We worked with Marcus over the course of 2.5 years to plan our event. We originally planned to only do a cocktail hour with ABC, but due to the pandemic, we had to re-plan multiple times to include dinner. Marcus was so helpful with all of the changes and made very thoughtful suggestions, down to the little details that we didn't even consider. Special shout out to Nelson (manager) and John (bartender). Nelson was very responsive and attentive to our day-of needs and requests. He demonstrated great flexibility and ability to pivot when unexpected issues developed during our reception. With regards to John, our guests couldn't say enough about him. He portrayed a true aptitude for customer service and a genuine enjoyment for working with people (all while working quickly and efficiently). We only had one operational hiccup with regards to timing from the kitchen. We were running ahead of schedule which added a wrinkle to the day. However, despite that, we somehow fell behind our original schedule and some plates weren't very warm by the time they got to the tables. Nevertheless, the food was overall enjoyable.

I'm a professional event planner who has had the pleasure of working with Mark and his staff for 7+ years. When I got engaged I absolutely knew I was going to ask him to cater my wedding. My bride and I actually decided that one of the priority factors when choosing a venue was that it had to allow outside caterers. Although I'm an event manager by day, I wanted to be able to fully enjoy being a groom at my own wedding. We decided against hiring a wedding planner for the day of the event so we relied heavily on Mark, his staff and a few good friends to take care of all the details. From set-up, timing the wedding party procession, coordinating announcements with the DJ, and packing everything up - we didn't have to worry about a thing. An incredible gift for me, who was in charge of planning "logistics", and my bride, who was in charge of "design". Mark was extremely patient with us as we selected a wedding menu that was very non-traditional. We eliminated the plated dinner and chose to have 3 stations instead. Make your own: pasta, taco and sliders. This invited our guests to interact with each other and extended the fun they were having at the cocktail hour. I heard rave reviews for the food - and each station was beautifully decorated and really fit our rustic chic theme. We tried to control many of the details that day, but left the specifics of catering decor to Mark. He really listened to all of our ideas and executed them in a really beautiful way. Everything in the room looked like it was in a magazine. One of my favorites was the cupcake table. We chose 3 kinds of cupcakes in lieu of a wedding cake. We asked him to incorporate a really interesting fold out sewing box, chunks of wood and our Scrabble themed cupcake toppers. The result was stunning - and delicious! He assigned one server to take care of us and we actually got to eat some of the food - despite everyone warning us that would never happen. Highly recommend Mark for any kind of event!

We walked into a simple counter-service space with limited indoor seating, the kind of place that feels more like a grab-and-go stop than a sit-down lunch spot. Even with its small footprint, there was a steady stream of customers coming in for one of the signature sandwiches, and the energy of the room stayed practical and focused on getting orders out efficiently. The lobster roll is the clear standout. We ordered one and found it generously filled with lobster meat, making it feel substantial compared to many other lobster rolls around the city. Whether you choose it hot with butter or cold with mayo, the focus stays on the lobster itself rather than overwhelming it with extra ingredients. The toasted roll added just enough texture without taking away from the filling. Although the lobster roll gets most of the attention, the rest of the menu offers plenty of options if seafood is not what you are looking for. There are oversized sandwiches, soups like clam chowder, and classic sides that make it easy to find something for different tastes. The portions are generous overall, making the prices feel reasonable considering the amount of food you receive. The service was quick and efficient, which fits the fast-paced counter-service concept. The staff moved through orders with speed, and the food came out without much delay. The biggest thing to keep in mind is the limited seating, especially during lunch hours or peak tourist seasons in the North End. If the dining area is full, taking your food to go or finding a nearby outdoor spot can be a better option. Overall, Pauli's is a great stop if you are looking for a satisfying lobster roll without an overly formal seafood restaurant experience. The generous portions, straightforward menu, and convenient location make it an easy place to visit while exploring the North End, especially if lobster rolls are at the top of your list.

Neither of us really knew what a personal chef service looked like. We love cooking but we didn't/don't have time during the week to cook. We hoped we'd get more vegetables into our diet at a minimum. That not eating out would mean less of the white devils (sugar, salt). I reached out to The Skinny Beet in a frenetic and desperate state last December. Since they've entered our lives the sun is shining, the clouds have parted and Mondays are happy (re: they are miracle workers). We have been a weekly client with The Skinny Beet for almost 3 months now. At the end of 1 month we reached out to them and shared a list of each positive benefit directly or indirectly related to hiring them as personal chefs. I would like to share this list with you (reader of my review): 1. My husband and I spend more time together. 2. We portion control better. 3. We work out more (have time to work out). 4. We feel better: less groggy, less irritable, more energy. 5. The food they make tastes flavorful, wholesome and satisfying. We get to eat our favorite cuisines with less of the sugar/salt and more grain/vegetable variety than what we know how to cook. 6. We waste less. 7. The brain space we wasted thinking about what to eat, what to cook, when to go pick things up, crap-I-forgot-an-ingredient --- Poof! Gone. Which, working full time while part time grad school, any and all brain space I can allocate to my work is priceless for me. From Week One: Flexibility with schedule and menu planning was made easy for us - We come home and our kitchen tools and pans lovingly (and somewhat expensively) acquired over time are clean - There are delicious dishes made with quality ingredients ready for devouring in the fridge. We are so grateful for the difference The Skinny Beet has made in our quality of life. Seriously, I wasn't kidding: Miracle Workers.
