My biggest concern with my son starting at a big boy school was that he has so many allergies and if not caught on time can be severe. Nurse heather has been with him all these years and is always on top of his medication when a reaction is about to happen. She will call me every time and update me and let me know he is okay, she has been my life saver and has help put that anxiety at ease. All of the teachers he's had also know about his allergies and are very on top of it as well. They make sure parents who want to bring in treats (Valentine's Day, birthdays, etc) know that it is an allergy classroom and give us alternatives to bring in. All the staff are friendly and try very hard to remember every student and parent. The principal is so involved with the students day to day school life and is always around the halls chatting with the kiddos. My son absolutely adore his principal, very different experience from mine (I barely knew my principles). Overall this is a wonderful school with wonderful staff that make your kids feel safe, happy, and want to go to school. They also have a preschool program and I can't wait for my baby girl to attend there when it's her time!!

Don't expect accountability, only expect lies and coverups when you have issues. They lied about my daughter making the cheer team after she was bullied and removed her from the cheerleading team and allowed the bullies to be apart of the team but told my daughter, the victim she couldn't attend. From The Principal, to the Assistant Principal to the Guidance Counselor to the Dean all heard my issue and ignored my issue and we reported a bullying claim against the child and the school went 14 days without even documenting the issue even though the Principal, Assistant Principal and Guidance Counselor all stated that it would be filed when the incident happened but were untruthful because I didn't know the official process so I couldn't tell if it had been filed or not. Once contacting DUVAL County School Board (Which only takes the bullying reports and document them.) now all of a sudden they want to handle the bully report like they were supposed to weeks ago, I also reached out to the Charter Schools corporate office and no one ever responded. I left voicemails and emails but no one cared. I literally had the fight for my child to be out the class with the bully's and the administrators were so frustrated that they were removing her that I believe in part that's why they retaliated against my daughter. They say they want parental involvement but when they get it they don't want it. I told them I want to volunteer and I'm DUVAL County Approved Volunteer. They have yet to respond. I now know why the morning and afternoon drop off and pickup line is so horrible and I feel it's because the administration. They did my child wrong a 10 year old who reported getting bullied and kids were spreading rumors that she had lice in her head and as she was trying out for cheer they were bullying her saying means things. She reports the incidents and are some how removed from the cheer squad because of it. Very poor leadership. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone although they have great teachers I'm now hearing from other parents that they've had to also remove the kids from the school because they were getting bullied, the administrators turns a blind eye to bullying.

I would like to share the letter that I forwarded to the Saint Johns school district…read moreso maybe one day things can change: "Good morning, we live in Ponte Vedra Beach exactly 2 miles from Ocean Palms Elementary School but to not lose my job (no after care) we were obligated to move her to Flagler Charter School and now I'm driving around 30 minutes to my daughter to go to school with after care available. We've tried all the private schools around our home without spots. Nicole was adapting well and loving the school and the After care and school administrators didn't bother even to answer Yes or No after 6 months trying waitlist and several phone calls and e-mails. The last time Ms Kim LaMondie answered "At this time we are on a waitlist. We will be sure to put Nicole on the list. I will reach out to you as soon as we open our waitlist." was on Jan/23/2023 and since then we didn't have any responses after several times trying contact. So, to not lose my job I was obligated to change my daughter to somewhere with after care. Now we drive very far every day for school. I don't think this is fair to us and our daughter always cries missing her neighborhood friends and the school - It looks like we are out of the social neighborhood now even though we live right there. We hope this situation can change because we are very unhappy to not be able to study around our home and to be excluded from the social around there for this reason. We hope Nicole can study again on Ocean Palms too."

I love this elementary school due to the great teachers, diversity, and awesome administration. The area can be intimidating but that is the whole point of magnet schools! Stanton is right down the street; so, if you plan to have your child go there, it will be in the same neighborhood!

But the campus is clean and an easy learning environment. The library has a large selection of books and the sixth grade graduation is beautiful. I recommend if you live in the Fleming island area to take your kids to this elementary. It is disciplined and perfect for a young child.

It has been a couple of months and can already see an improvement in my little one. He is used to being around other people and other kids too. They have their standard classrooms and an additional music room. The teachers are smart, encouraging and they know what they are doing. They do the best to ease you into leaving your kids with others for the first time. The first day of school they had a breakfast for the parents to ease their minds a little. They have 2, 3 and VPK programs. Like most places in Florida the their VPK program is free. The 2 and 3 year old program you have to pay, depending on how many days a week you child attends. They have a 2 day program (Tuesday & Thursday), 3 day program (Monday, Wednesday & Friday), and the 5 day program which is from Monday thru Friday. Picking and dropping your kids off is easy. You can either wait in the car line, or you can stand by the front door. They like it if you use the car line. It makes it easier and faster on the staff. I am happy we found a great facility to take my youngest. They really treat it like a kindergarten class. So they don't only play around they also teach and assess the kids.
