My daughter is in her third year of high school at Greenwood school in the Arlington area. This is…read morea school for special children who may learn differently and require closer, caring support. The classes are small. The curriculum is challenging. I'm very pleased with their new Principal. Their Music program is the best. It is a bit pricey... but worth it. Recommend!

After spending time in the public school system since Pre-K, along with a stint at a private school…read morewhich has since closed, my twin sons, now 22 years old, began attending Greenwood in the 6th grade. Both of my sons had completed an assessment for admission to Greenwood a couple of years prior, but did not meet the requirements at that time. I was disappointed, because I'd heard great things about Greenwood. Alas, Greenwood knew what they were doing. My boys just weren't ready yet. That's the kind of caring you will find at Greenwood! Any school could enroll students just to fill seats. But the head of school (Mrs Connell, now retired) at the time knew my sons would be in over their heads if they started Greenwood when we first applied. My mother was a teacher. So I've always been acutely aware of what teachers do and have nothing but respect for teachers! I certainly appreciate and wanted a good education for my sons, but trying to find and finance it as a single Mom was not easy. One day, though, the stars aligned, my boys were accepted at Greenwood, and with the help of the McKay Scholarship and financial aid through the generosity of others, my children were where they needed to be, to be their best. Of course, not every student will be a perfect fit at every school. But if your child has an IEP, has learning differences and could benefit from educators who understand that; as well as smaller class sizes - I urge you to check out Greenwood. I will forever be grateful to the faculty & staff at Greenwood... For treating my sons as individuals...for providing an optimum environment...for helping them grow in numerous aspects. I could go on! Greenwood is much more than just a private school. There is a difference at Greenwood. If you are searching for a positive change and a better situation for your child, please consider Greenwood.

Like many schools in Duval, the staff and teachers struggle with a large census of children. Its hard to provide quality with a quantity of I think 1800 students this year and slightly less as many in the years previous. I believe the education provided by teaching staff is decent to good and the school feels safe to me. Yes there are fights, but consider the population vs amount of fights. The hallways are monitorted well and alot of thought is placed into the structure/dynamics of the crowd flow. All this being said, if you were to judge the school by the attitude of the front office, the school would recieve an F. I know that the front office of every school has to deal with alot of frustrated parents and children,.. but that is the stipulation of any customer service job. Voice inflection is venomous, they cut you off mid sentence, and are frequently confrontational. I work in a hospital as a nurse, and if I treated patients the way parents and children are treated by thier front office, I wouldnt last a week.

Nobody else treated me well even though i treated them with repsect, but because i was diffrent they didnt treat me good. Nobody treated me well, i was abused and hurt both physically and emotionally by the other kids. Im so happy im out of that school, every night i cried myself to sleep knowing that i would have to go back another day. Dont take your kid here, please. If your kid is even SLIGHTLY different than how other kids are they will fucking kill your child emotionally. I am speaking frome experince, its fucking hell. This school made me consider suicide, do you know how hurtful the entire school has to be to make a 12 year old boy want to die? Im hurt because of that school, dont ever go there, please
