This school is PERFECT for my son! He's starting his 3rd year there & LOVES it! He's never liked…read moreschool before & even went to the best elementary school. The small class sizes, individual attention and no assigned homework has made a HUGE difference in our family life. On the rare occasion he doesn't finish his work at school because of a doctor/dentist appointment, he comes home & immediately completes his work. He NEVER cared about his schoolwork & homework was ALWAYS a struggle until he started at Center Academy at St. John's Bluff. I am so thankful to have options such as this school because some kids just don't do well at large public schools and need different accommodations that other schools can't offer. Plus we have NEVER had a bullying issue or anything even close to that. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Center Academy if your child has unique needs.

My daughter is in her third year of high school at Greenwood school in the Arlington area. This is…read morea school for special children who may learn differently and require closer, caring support. The classes are small. The curriculum is challenging. I'm very pleased with their new Principal. Their Music program is the best. It is a bit pricey... but worth it. Recommend!

After spending time in the public school system since Pre-K, along with a stint at a private school…read morewhich has since closed, my twin sons, now 22 years old, began attending Greenwood in the 6th grade. Both of my sons had completed an assessment for admission to Greenwood a couple of years prior, but did not meet the requirements at that time. I was disappointed, because I'd heard great things about Greenwood. Alas, Greenwood knew what they were doing. My boys just weren't ready yet. That's the kind of caring you will find at Greenwood! Any school could enroll students just to fill seats. But the head of school (Mrs Connell, now retired) at the time knew my sons would be in over their heads if they started Greenwood when we first applied. My mother was a teacher. So I've always been acutely aware of what teachers do and have nothing but respect for teachers! I certainly appreciate and wanted a good education for my sons, but trying to find and finance it as a single Mom was not easy. One day, though, the stars aligned, my boys were accepted at Greenwood, and with the help of the McKay Scholarship and financial aid through the generosity of others, my children were where they needed to be, to be their best. Of course, not every student will be a perfect fit at every school. But if your child has an IEP, has learning differences and could benefit from educators who understand that; as well as smaller class sizes - I urge you to check out Greenwood. I will forever be grateful to the faculty & staff at Greenwood... For treating my sons as individuals...for providing an optimum environment...for helping them grow in numerous aspects. I could go on! Greenwood is much more than just a private school. There is a difference at Greenwood. If you are searching for a positive change and a better situation for your child, please consider Greenwood.

i use to go to this school, and it fucking broke me. I was he punching bag for the entire school…read moreand i never got a break. Nobody else treated me well even though i treated them with repsect, but because i was diffrent they didnt treat me good. Nobody treated me well, i was abused and hurt both physically and emotionally by the other kids. Im so happy im out of that school, every night i cried myself to sleep knowing that i would have to go back another day. Dont take your kid here, please. If your kid is even SLIGHTLY different than how other kids are they will fucking kill your child emotionally. I am speaking frome experince, its fucking hell. This school made me consider suicide, do you know how hurtful the entire school has to be to make a 12 year old boy want to die? Im hurt because of that school, dont ever go there, please

If you want your kid to be miserable, this is a great candidate of a school to send them to! Some…read moreof the teachers can't teach or are horribly rude or both. For example, I tried teaching my class about a topic once and my classmates said they understood it more than the teacher's "lessons". The principal picks on kids and will not communicate with the gardening club student leader who can't even participate or leave in the club because they cut it without telling her. There's not many teachers I can name off of the top of the head that I know are good teachers but there are some, and the rest either suck or I don't know them or both. I don't know the dean that well but apparently she said "if you get touched inappropriately that's your fault" at one of the behaviour assemblies, but I wasn't there so I can't confirm. There's a lot of kids who think they're cool for being rude and disruptive, but if I was one of their teachers I would want to kill myself, and they do not punish those kids enough. A lot of the staff care more about a good student having their phone out once or being slightly mean to them more than student bullying or assault or mental health. The health teacher who still works here skipped over the mental health unit because it's "not important" and talked mostly about how you should diet as a teen because being skinny good and is the only way to be healthy and drugs being bad. The test scores suck because most of the teachers can't teach or the kids are just bad. The principal horribly mishandled a lock-out by not checking the news before doing a fire drill where we go outside. When there was a threat OUTSIDE of the school, they labelled it as a lockdown (this means the threat is inside of the school) instead of a lock-out (the threat is outside the school but nearby). There were kids in the halls who were locked out of classes and safety basically waiting to die. They don't unlock the bathrooms and tell us to go during transition period or lunch even if our classes are across the whole school and/or we need to eat. This school isn't even safe. There's so many fights here that it's not even shocking to hear there was a fight anymore. I would not recommend this school even if it was to my worst enemy. I wish the good staff better schools to work at, because this school is NOT it.
