I have been going to Hash auction for quite some time. I have gone to many reputable auctions, Trouts in Frederick, Cochran's. and many others. Hash auction miss represent things. I have purchased things that they said were gold and silver. The actual charm was silver and gold, but the chains on both were garbage. Very misleading in the description did not state or indicate that the chains weren't gold or silver. I have been charged twice on items purchased. When you try to speak to the women working there they are nasty and rude. Thank you for responding to my review. Contrary to what you believe, sir I was not upset at all. My bank had already put the money back in my account and it was minimal so there was no reason for me to be upset. I simply told your staff that I had done that at a courtesy. I was asked by your staff to wait because she needed to speak with the employee to find out what it happened. I sat there and waited for 15 minutes. She came back and explained to me once again that her employee made a mistake which I stated to her was not a big deal. Accidents happen. Your staff was rude and nasty and said because I called my bank and reported it that that was gonna look bad on her business that I should've told her about it when I came in. Not only did she attack me and was nasty even though I explained to her that it wasn't a big deal. She continued to talk rudely to me. Also another staff member of yours jumped into the conversation.. rude and nasty both of them. Didn't care it was an honest mistake, but I will not tolerate someone speaking rude and nasty to me when I was kind enough to tell her what happened. Doubtful I'll ever use this auction service again as a buyer. They had a huge auction and I stumbled upon a single item that I wanted... and paid DEARLY for... and drove 2 hours and 15 minutes to pick up. Very short pickup window that they listed incorrectly in the most conspicuous place. I also would've appreciated a better description of the item. I was unable to preview it being so far away. I wasn't disappointed in it, but I would've been happier if I'd known more details. And don't get me started on the inflated buyer's premium! They were pleasant enough, but the negatives outweigh the positives. read more

Bought through their online auction last week for the first time and it was an easy transaction. You can bid up to 5ish PM Monday (and you can go preview items that day id you want, although I didn't) and then you must settle your bill and pick everything up Tuesday between 9 AM and 6 PM. Not hard for me as I'm pretty close by but keep all that in mind. Nice lady at the cashier window and the people helping pick items around the warehouse and bring them over to buyers and helping to load vehicles were friendly and helpful, too. I scored some nice jewelry and some other home items. I did not see evidence of anything weird or shady or any rudeness (after seeing the other reviews I was somewhat concerned)--all was pretty straightforward and pleasant. Kindness and respect beget kindness and respect, right? Just read the instructions/auction rules and you should be good to go. For example: I had read the fine print so I knew the rules for bidding, the pickup time window, and also about how they add fees and process payment--so I knew about this, too--but do bring cash when settling up at the cashier and picking up your items (Tuesdays) if you want to avoid an extra 5% tacked on. The invoice is provided online before you come Tuesday and then of course you get a receipt when you pay. Again--all was straightforward and pleasant for me. I'm now contemplating selling some of my treasures through them to declutter and get rid of some of what I have in storage after a move. Seems much easier than eBay or a yard sale, although of course one has to be prepared for bidding prices not going as high as you'd like and the auction house taking a cut (which for some of the previous reviews that seemed unrealistic in expectations --hello, it's a business and they have employees to pay--it's not a charity! I've done business with Hash's for years and their auction house is great. These people are HONEST and HARD WORKING. I don't get what is being said in some of the reviews. I've bought many items here, and never have I felt the least bit upset. Seems to me people just don't want to abide by their rules. And when an exception isn't made for them, they turn to the internet because they know that will hurt a small business like this. Unfair, because a small business cannot fight back. At auction, most people know, you usually do not get what an item is worth if you are the seller. If you aren't willing to risk getting a low percentage of what an item is worth, then don't sell it at auction. At Hash's or any auction house. The nature of an auction is for people to get good deals. That's why Hash Auctions are so popular! read more

Buyers and sellers beware! They've turned the Auctions into an online only business so that they can continue the scam. If you take your items to be sold, you'll only get a quarter of what it's worth. If you're buying, you'll be paying much more than it's worth.. If you bid on an item and you're winning, they'll close out the item without notice so that they can sell it for a higher bid. The whole family is known for being shady scammers.. Not only do they steal from locals but they take advantage of new sellers. They took my items and supposedly sold it for next to nothing... they lies about the auction date and never actually listed my items. They told me 3 days later that "it was" listed but they won't prove it. read more

My experience, customer service wise, has been less than reasonable and acceptable. I waited 4 days before posting a review, while I waited to be contacted by management or upper management per my request. I was assured that I would be contacted by a gentlemen (B) so I could voice my concern about having a man walk into my basement, without warning, looking for his "items" and he was here for "pick up". Clearly the gentleman had come to the wrong house. I was home alone, not dressed at all when he walked unannounced into my basement. Following a great deal of screaming from me as well as a dog barking relentlessly at him he backed out of my home but remained on the back porch. I dressed myself in a robe and decided to continue my rant from the glass door while he repeatedly repeated my address. He told me he was from "Hess" which wound up being HASH and showed me through the door his contact info on his phone. I was able to ascertain that he had come to the wrong house by transposing a number. He left without incident. I contacted HASH to share my constructive criticism and maybe a few ideas about how this could be prevented in the future with better signage on the property they are at or having winners of the bid confirm their arrival at the property before just walking in. The lady who answered my call, took my name and number and dismissed my incident with a mention of how these policies were already in place and again, "How can I help you?" I told her she could help me by having someone contact me so I could relay my info to someone with compassion and care. "If (B) gets a chance, he will stop by", was her response. I was clearly dilutional by thinking anyone would make contact. I have a few constructive criticisms for this company and many change of policy ideas, the first one being to look on Indeed for a new receptionist and secondly to instill better practices of public safety. Not worth your time. I have purchased from here over the years, but they have lost my business for several reasons. I have received items that were clearly damaged between photographing for the auction, and when picking up post auction. Several times, I have received fragile items that had been boxed up without any wrapping only to have the items damaged. Their photographs often lack details, so if one cannot come in and inspect prior to the auction, prepare to be disappointed. The staff is not friendly, and at times, just plain rude. Also, not masking during the height of COVID made me feel as if they don't care one bit about their customers, or employees. read more

I have been a Hash buyer for a couple of years and I always enjoy going there to do my pick-ups. It would be great if pick- up could be Tuesday and Wednesday, but I understand the necessity of moving things quickly. I don't understand so many complaints - everybody has been really nice to me, and I assume the beautiful young girl that takes payment is the daughter so many people have said is rude...she has always been lovely to me. Those who are complaining about getting so little for their goods - you had a contract before the auction, didn't you? You knew what your portion would be, didn't you? Those folks are there to do business, not as a public service. If you don't like their policies, go elsewhere. read more

I won a lot of two items and one item was damaged by their delivery service on its way to be shipped to me, so they canceled the shipment of the second undamaged item without my approval. That is outright wrong. If you bid on something and win it, Hash is obligated to give it to you. Why would I or anyone take the time to bid on something at Hash Auctions if there was a chance they will not send it to you even if you won! Brian Hash (owner) does whatever he wants. And when I called him to explain that I wanted the item as it should be without even calling BRIAN HASH, HUNG UP THE PHONE! How rude and unprofessional is that? I asked a man in front of me(retired from Loudan Schools) if she was always so pissed and he stated some days are worse ...OMG He is brash and rude too so leaf doesn't fall far from the tree ! This place is the worst place I have ever been. People are extremely rude and unprofessional. They don't have proper customer service skills at all. I encountered the worst experience with this company back in 2013. I took some precious belongings and collections to this place (by the way, pretty expensives), and talked to the owner about his policies and rules to auction my staff. I was hoping to get a nice explanation, but instead, this guy came to me, and screamed at me like no one has ever done it before, not even my own parents. All I wanted to know was if I was allowed to be present for the auction day, but he never gave me an answer, instead, he got mad and started yelling. I left about 21 items for them to put it to auction, hoping to collect good money from them, as most of my items were collections, antiques, and vintage art paintings from well known French painters from the 1800s. In fact, I had one antique bracelet worth $1000, but I was only given 30 dollars for it. I also had one antique 1950s harmonica worth 350, but I was only given 20 dollars for it. In addition, I had an art painting by a native American worth 700, but I only was given 50 dollars for it. Those are just a few examples of how they ripp off people with their precious items. My final payment for all my belongings was just 121 dollars, when I know it should have been at least $2000 and up. This auction house is a ripp off. Be aware! If you have valuable items, please, don"t take it to them, as they will steal all their value and keep it for themselves, and give you just a small portion of their real value. I strongly believe they did that to me. I still believe they didn't even sell my items at auction, instead, I believe they bought them all for small amounts to pretend they were auctioned, but in reality, they kept it for themselves to resale it later on for more cash. Total dissapintment with them. If I was given the option to pick zero stars, I would do it, but since I have to pick at least one star, then I don't have a choice but to pick one star. read more

I have been purchasing from Hash Auctions on and off for serval years. For the past couple months I have been purchasing from them just about on a weekly basis. I found Mike extremely helpful, he was the type of employee that made you feel comfortable and appreciated. I always enjoy when he collects my stuff. He always makes sure I am loaded and ready to go. There is another employee I found must have been trained by Mike because he has the same wonderful comforting demeanor that Mike had. His name is slipping my mind. I did have a unpleasant experience with one of there employees. I found him to be a very rude and unprofessional employee. When I went to Brain the owner of the business about the situation. I was informed that the employee no longer work for his establishment. That some things had already been bought to his attention and dealt with. He assured me that he does not tolerate that type of behavior. He told me if I ever encounter that type of unprofessionalism again or had any concerns to bring it to his attention right away. He can not deal with a problem he doesn't know about. I get great deals on a lot things. They have a great selection of merchandise. They have a extended pickup day compared to most auctions. I feel this accommodates the customers that work a full time job. Most of their ads advertise the dimensions of the item. Most items condition is described very accurately I would recommend trying hash auctions. read more

No Stars....cannot begin to tell you how rude Mr. Hash is and his daughter is worse. I have never been screamed at by anyone in my life like he did. We parked a POD (and paid out of pocket) at his location which was only supposed to be there 4 weeks before he unloaded it and then let us know when our family auction would be. We offered to unload or assist in any way. Our 4 week POD rental ended up being over 7 weeks....doubling our fees. The day that the POD was unloaded they didnt' call us and guess what, they scheduled our family sale on the following Monday when all of us could have been there. Many friends had wanted to be there and no one was given the opportunity to be there. He lied....first said we didn't request to know about the sale - NOT TRUE. We called weekly. We are devastated. I'd be very careful if I considered dealing with this company. Stick to his wife, Dawn..she is kind and doesn't scream. When a Times reporter called to ask to do an interview, his daughter claimed her name was Puddintame and hung up on the reporter! Can you imagine?
