    Hat n' Boots

We had to stop by Hat n' Boots on our trip to Seattle. The kids had found it online and after learning the history, we decided to add it to our itinerary. Hat and Boots is connected to Oxbow Park and there is ample free street parking so it's a short walk to take photos. If you have small kids, there is a playground area and there are some picnic tables if you bring a lunch. We were there for about 15 minutes and that was enough to take ample photos.

This was such an adorable little photo op in Seattle! Absolutely free, it was a bit out of our way, but we stopped by on our way back to SeaTac airport as we were headed home. The hat and boots are located on this fun childrens playground and while the boots picture went right up on intagram, the hat is generally looking a little worse for wear and obviously needs some work on it's brim. A definite drop by if you're in the area sightseeing!

Thank you to Roadside America for leading me to this little (not so little) hidden gem. If you didn't know by now, I am OBSESSED with oddities and all things GIANT (That's what she said) --- so of course, when I saw this online I knew I HAD TO check it out! Just FYI; it's moved from it's original spot and has been given a much needed makeover. It's located in a neighborhood park - Oxbow Park. You'll be able to see the Boots from a few blocks away - so it's sorta hard to miss when you're in the neighborhood. Once there, street parking isn't hard to find - especially if you're just there to take pics. Quick in and out. We went during a weekday so it wasn't crowded at all. The boots were super easy to climb on which - of course, I did :) All in all, a nice quick stop for what could be an awesome photo-op not a lot of people know about. Just sayin'

I took some out of town visitors here for a cute 10 minute photo op. I found out about this place from searching weird things you can find on road trips. Apparently the hat and boots used to be restrooms. It's easy to find and next to a community garden. You can find lots of free street parking as it's in a residential area. I wish Seattle had more quirky huge statues.

Who couldn't love Oxbow Park? Like a chunk of the Southwest that landed in Georgetown, the giant cowboy boots and hat are unforgettable. Brightly painted and well maintained, they're actually visible from a few blocks away. The park also has a children's playground, a P-patch, benches, and lots of lovely grass to lay in. I'll definitely be taking more out-of-towners here to show them one of the strangest sites in town. Watch out Texas, Washingtonians like big, weird stuff too!

I'm a huge fan of roadside attractions, so, of course I loved this place. Very cool photo op if you're in the area. Like others have said, the park is small, so it's really just a quick stop. It would be an easy stop on the way to or from SeaTac if you have a car. The community garden was nice too. Even though it's fall, we still saw some flowers and a nice little pumpkin patch too.

As one of Seattle's most iconic structures (), this place is super random. The park is quaint and the community garden has gorgeous flowers. The hat and boots themselves are merely a photo op! I enjoyed them, being a country girl at heart!

If you're in the area you should stop by this place. It's a simple and free to-go-to landmark. It's at a local park with a playground. Parking is free. You'd spend 10 minutes top here.

Pocket park with the cool vintage Hat 'n Boots and Georgetown Pea Patch. There are several areas that would be awesome for a picnic and if you need to get out of the rain there is a large space under the Cowboy Hat. This was my first visit and it was nice to have the park mostly to myself on this breezy cloudy January day. I bet it's much busier during the summer when kids are out of school.

    Some big boots!

Ok, I'm giving this place 5 stars because it's just so odd and pretty cool! Big ass mismatched boots and hat?! A friend and myself road tripped from California to Seattle and heard about Hat N Boots from a local. We checked it out while enjoying the city and I'll say it really is a mist see!

Seattle's best thing, especially given the destruction of Twin Teepees and the removal of the Bubbleator.

After a short stroll down a well-designed dirt path, we found the giant troll. The troll is great for photos and has a sign that describes the history of the troll. My kids enjoyed climbing around the area, too. Facing the opposite direction from the troll is a very cool bridge that creates some awesome cathedral-like architecture. There is lots to do in Fremont, and even though the troll is kind of a one-and-done deal, it's worth checking out simply to explore the rest of the neighborhood and awesome surrounding businesses. It's a great destination to bring out-of-town visitors--like me--to check out another troll! As a fan of the whimsical trolls created by Thomas Dambo, this was a must-see. Street parking is available nearby, making it an easy stop while exploring the neighborhood. I'd personally recommend not climbing on the troll due to safety concerns, although many people were doing so when we visited. Either way, it's a unique photo opportunity and a classic Seattle experience.

Seeing Seattle from that height gives you a completely new appreciation for the city and its surroundings. What made the visit even more enjoyable was the staff. Every employee I encountered was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and genuinely pleasant. Their warmth made the experience feel even more special, and it was clear they take pride in creating a positive atmosphere for visitors. One observation I did have relates to the elevator experience. It has been two years since my last visit, and unfortunately, the elevator's video system is still not functioning. I remember when the observatory first opened, and the video played during the ride up--it added an engaging and memorable element to the experience. Without it, the ride feels noticeably less enjoyable. Interestingly, others seemed to feel the same way. I mentioned how long the video system has been out of service while riding up, and a couple riding up with us--visiting from Australia--commented that it would have been nice to have something to watch during the ascent. As an alternative, it might be a wonderful opportunity for the elevator operator to share a few interesting facts during the ride up. A brief, engaging introduction--highlighting that this is the tallest building in Seattle, along with a bit of history about its construction and facts about its tenants--could really enhance the experience and help pass the time in a meaningful way. Additionally, with all three video screens currently not working and visibly cracked, addressing this issue would make a noticeable difference. Either repairing or replacing the screens--or even temporarily covering them--would create a much more polished and welcoming feel for visitors and help elevate the overall experience. You can't beat the view though!

The experience felt much more laid back, with fewer crowds and plenty of space to take in the views. It is also technically taller than the Space Needle. The observatory floor goes all the way around and has lots of helpful information and displays explaining what you're looking at, which made the experience more engaging than simply taking photos from an observation deck. There's also a café w/ bar upstairs, making it easy to relax and spend some time enjoying the scenery. One of the biggest advantages is that you get incredible panoramic views of Seattle including the Space Needle itself, which makes for some great photo opportunities. We got lucky and it was a beautiful afternoon and were able to watch the sunset from there. Between the views, the atmosphere, and the overall value, this ended up being one of my favorite stops in Seattle.

We came from Mercer Island, taking the light rail (and monorail) and I was pleasantly surprised at how short the journey was. It now costs $55 for an adult ticket (which is steep), which we purchased at the main ticket office. No email address was required to purchase the tickets, which actually became a bit of a problem as any activities done during the visit is tied to your ticket. There were two picture taking opportunities, and both were not very good. One was before you entered, and tied to your ticket. There was no way to download the picture, instead having to take a screenshot to save it. And the picture taking opportunity up on top (where an email address is needed to get the picture), didn't work. We took two pictures sent to two different email addresses, and neither one made it. It was crowded, so we didn't stay very long. My usual recording of info is on my previous review, so no need to repeat.
