It's in the far corner of the plaza off the northeast corner of Weston Rd and Hwy 7. It does have ample parking. I've made use of it both as a shopper, and a donater. It serves its purpose, usually. I can't speak to how large it is compared to other locations, but it is about as large as an average Costco, and looks like one. It's a pretty bare bones warehouse full of all kinds of housewares, clothing, books, seasonal items, and even watches and jewellery. I've made a few successful trips over the years. The selection of kitchen wares, clothing, and books in particular have been very good finds. I've managed to find cooking implements for extremely low prices, many of them long ago, which I still use to this day. The clothing seems a little more costly, but still good bargains. Browsing the aisles reminds me a lot of shopping at Winners, but not as bright and shiny. But the racks and racks of clothes are arranged and of such an array as reminds me of a Winners experience, where you need to dig amongst all the odds and ends. When it comes to Christmas and Halloween, you can score a lot of great finds at bargain prices, including brand new items such as wigs and kids' costumes. I've heard a lot of negative press lately about Value Village jacking up prices on new, resale items from dollar stores. I haven't yet experienced this myself, but I will certainly keep my eye out on my next trip. Check the bottoms of items for original stickers that will tell you whether overcharging. All in all, I've been glad to have successful trips, and will certainly return when I'm up for my next thrift haul.

Okay, so update on the situation. Since I continued not being able to get in contact with this…read moregirl, I made a fake email address and asked for a consultation. The next day she got back to me and made an appointment for the following week! Amazing! The plan was to go for the appointment and then ask for the dress back. On the morning of the appointment, I got an email to my original address apologizing and saying that she had been away for a family emergency. I didn't want to take a chance and decided to keep the evening appointment to go get my dress. The girl was noticeably flustered when she realized who I was, but quickly got my dress. She explained that she had been dealing with an ill father in Vietnam, in a remote area. I believe her and I sympathize, but it doesn't explain why it still took a week for her to respond to my original emails, but one night to respond to the new appointment. THe fact of the matter is, that if you are going to run a successful business, you need to not leave your clients in a lurch. There is no way someone suddenly decides they need to catch the next flight to Vietnam, that leaves in twenty minutes. If you are the only one at a company, you need to have your affairs in order. However, on their website there is more than one person listed as working here, so I'm not sure why emails or calls were not being answered by the business partner. It all ended up being a very strange situation and I would not for a second go back to use this woman's services. I'm sorry! I really, truly feel badly for her family situation, but it just doesn't excuse the behaviour.

My wife's response below was rather tamed for the amount of aggravation that we have been caused by…read moreLa Fete. Based on my experiences with La Fete Weddings, here is a brief run down of how I feel about the company and its owner Jasmine May. I sincerely would not intend to damage the business or reputation of a company; however I do feel it necessary to express my experiences so that other can learn from our errors and avoid similar fates as we have. As you can read in my wife's posting, certain things were not done at our weddings that were promised by our decorating company La Fete. For my legal friends, what is it called when you don't abide by the terms and conditions of a contract? La Fete did not deliver on certain criteria clearly outlined in the legally binding contract that they sent to us. Now I can understand mistakes can be made, I have no issue with that. In fact, if I didn't think people made mistakes, I'd be dumb. So we have established that I can cope with simple mistakes, here is where my beef starts. My issue is that La Fete never called us back, or apologized for doing a half-assed job on the wedding day. I could have done a better job of putting together our centerpieces. Why did I bother paying a decorator when I could have done a half-assed job myself? Do decorators not try to make things look uniform and visually appealing? Is that not their job? So why did La Fete decide to make half the centerpieces look different than the other half? Some sort of stylistic wet dream that they were having that day? Hmmmm. Now in this day and age is email and telephones not readily accessible? Why could Jasmine not call us or send us a quick email from the Blackberry that we obviously know she has to tell us that she suddenly had to drop everything and attend a funeral. I'm sure she had time to pack a few things and get to the venue. How long does it take to write "Hey Guys, Had some family issues and will be sending Natalie in my place. Sorry"?? Took me 8.2 Seconds. Not to mention that even after she returned and got my rather nasty email she still hasn't bothered to return a call or offer some sort of financial compensation for our unhappiness. One month after our wedding, we still have not heard a peep out of La Fete or there Staff. Now, I'm not expert, but I say that is poor customer service. If you value customer service and accountability as much as I do, then you may want to consider this when choosing a decorator and find one that shares the same views as you do. With La Fete, I understand mistakes happen, but an apology would have been all it took to make it better. Still waiting on that. Choose wisely.
