Looking for a good cigar - run here!! Mine was sweet and tasty! Drinks were mixed perfectly!! I had 3- Long Island iced teas. Comfortable chairs however, get could use a facelift. Excellent service !! There was only one bartender and he handled the entire business. At one time there were about 19-20 people there. Bathrooms were clean!! 2 stalls per gender. Huge collection of cigars to choose from. Tip: This is a hockey bar so if hockey is playing then it's on tv. Period?? So no NFL draft but it was all good. Bar Rules! read more

I met some buddies in Durham for some beers and to verbally abuse each other like friends do. Afterwards, some of us wanted to sit around and enjoy a cigar but all of us lived too far away. We decided to come here as the trip to Glenwood was only about 15 minutes. We parked for only $3 on a Saturday night right at the facility which is amazing. Kudos for that! The first thing you notice walking in is the smoke. Not that we were expecting a smoke-free cigar lounge, but the air-cleaning system leaves a lot to be desired. Two of us arrived before the rest, so I grabbed a couch and my friend got us some smokes and drinks. He got two Four Roses Single Barrel double bourbons with 2 Rocky Patels for $30. Seriously? What a deal! We were there for about an hour, refilling our drinks once before we left. Even with the bad air filtration, we will be going back. read more

I visiting from out of town and wanted to get a cigar with a buddy. I was told that they open every day till 2 am. Spent as $25 umber to get there and they were closed . We love ending a night downtown at havana. The atmosphere is very speakeasy and chill. Mike and Stump are a great team. The service is excellent as are the cigar selection and whiskey selection. Remember the days when cigars and cigar bars were all the rage? Well Havana Deluxe is one of the few spots in Raleigh (Amras is the other choice) where you can still light up your stogie, down a scotch and have a chill conversation without screaming over to your table-mate! It's tucked away off of Glenwood so Havana Deluxe attracts a slightly different crowd which is a good thing. On Saturday night, the place was half-full with a 25 - 40 crowd enjoying cigars and some cocktails. There are a handful of TV's to keep you up with the latest scores but otherwise it was a relaxed, cigar bar scene. Best part of Havana Deluxe were the bartenders. They poured their drinks well and were friendly, a nice plus! So what can I say but it's a nice little spot to start or end your evening. Just be prepared for a bit of cigar smoke! And while I have definitely smoked some cigars at times, it's not always an easy thing to inhale somebody ELSE's cigar smoke! read more

I had high hopes for this place. I mean a cigar and whiskey in one spot in Raleigh is a hard combination to find. Plus the old school set-up, dark, leather and hockey, how could it go wrong. But it does. First, the cigars, on the night I was there was a very limited supply. The cigars are kept in a cabinet next to the bar. Not sure if it is a working humidor but they say it is. There were maybe four different cigars brands in the thing and they were all similar types. Not really a selection at all. But I requested a stick anyway and the bartender opened up the cabin, grabbed a cigar and then proceeded to cut my cigar. This kinda pissed me off. you see, I do not cut cigars, I punch them, and who the heck is this jackass, with all his rudeness, to decide that a cigar I buy will be cut. As I suspected, the cigar was old, dry and stale. there was no life in the old girl at all. I also ordered a whiskey neat, and much like the cigar, it was old, bland and stale as if it had been open for months if not years. This place is actually pretty bad. I will stay with the 2 stars though because I like the decor and hockey. But a change is needed in pretty much every other respect. read more

Had the chance to finally stop in and have a smoke. I l love how hidden and tucked away it is, away from all the action on Glenwood. The set up feels like a classic dive bar but with really good stocks and nice couches that make everywhere feel like a living room. What makes this place really special is Mike the main bartender, he treats everyone really well, listens to what kind of experience you are looking for and sets you up with the right drink and the right cigar. If you are new to cigars like we were Mike takes time to guide you and give you instructions, this is done in a very polite and accessible manner. A private club, it has an exemption to the no-smoking policy for all bars and restaurants in North Carolina. While this might be enough to get any smoker into the joint, I like this place because of the service. Our bartender and tobacco specialist was great at helping me pick out a cigar and kept my glass full. They have the required leather couches to sit and chill in. The ventilation seems good. For as long as this place has been in Raleigh it's still raggedy and rundown. Havana Deluxe is nowhere near "deluxe." It's a dark hole with a lackluster atmosphere. The staff are rude and unprofessional. The bathrooms are not clean and the carpet throughout the building is hideous. read more

Laid-back, mid-century cool...that's what comes to mind when I think of Havana Deluxe. The name conjures up images of fedora-clad men in pinstriped suits enjoying a Manhattan over expensive cigars. The dark, smoky-even-when-it's-not decor certainly gives off that same vibe. But it would seem that Havana Deluxe has a bit of a split personality. It definitely feels like a cigar bar, but you're also likely to find college students or young professionals here smoking cigarettes and watching a football game on the projection TV, or even playing a board game on the comfy sofas. Show up early - which usually means before midnight here - and you'll have no problem finding a seat, sofa or otherwise. Get here after, though, and you'll realize that you've found one of the most popular 'wind-down' spots on GloSo. As far as drink prices go, they're about average for the area - a little high but the drinks are stiff and well-made. Not to mention that Havana's chill atmosphere makes it worth the extra coin to stop in. I didn't have the chance to check out the cigar prices, so I can't really speak to those. Then there's the service...when was the last time you were able to sit on a plush leather sofa, smoke a cigar, watch sports on a big-screen TV and have drinks delivered at your whim? For me, I can honestly say never until I went to Havana Deluxe. And I can assure you the next time will be much sooner. read more

Arrived at the bar to have a cigar. Went to the humidor to look at the poor selection. Gathered the cigars were going to smoke, we are a party of 10, more than half of us didn't drink, 5 of us smoking. The bartender (bald with a big red beard) rushes over and asks if we can read. To our surprise, There was a small post-it note staying to not go into the humidor without a bartender. We then asked while he was there if we could just grab them and come pay. He told us in a very aggressive voice that he will get to us when he is done serving the people at the bar. He made a point to be overly rude and aggressive. 20 minutes go by of us standing there waiting for cigars. We obtained the cigars. Smoked them. It was fine. I wouldn't want this loose cannon working for me. Will not return to a place that charges 50% over retail for a Serie V to be treated like hoodlums by an angry 38-year-old bartender, unfortunately, this is what Raleigh has turned into. read more

This was my first time going to Havana Deluxe on April 2, 2022 the night of the Duke/Carolina NCAA Tournament Semi-Finals. The lounge appears to be a nice kickback spot to sip and PSSITA (Put some smoke in the air) but the bartender was kind of a jerk and was kind of unfriendly and not welcoming. A friend of mine relocated to the Triangle from the DMV area and we we're looking for a chill spot to watch the game to sip and smoke however the barkeep wouldn't turn on the game and who in Tobacco Road wasn't watching the game that night??? Barkeep said "Nope" we watch hockey. Then said the Owner is from Canada and he like hockey so are not changing the channels until the game is finished. The hockey game ended after overtime and the bartender had this smug look like we just watching hockey. I guess they have been sleeping on a rock somewhere not to know the "Battle of the Blues" is what will get people into your establishment and buy up your sticks and liquor. After we finished our sticks and our round of drinks. We left and end to Smoking Bull in Durham to enjoy the game, good food, drinks and sticks. Havana Deluxe is a nice looking cigar lounge and could be better if they were customer oriented. I have been to a few cigar lounges around the country and they get it with their customer service (I.e Burn Atlanta, GA, Smoke On the Water, Westin, FL , Fox Cigar Bar, Scottsdale, AZ, Beach Cigar Bar- Ft. Lauderdale, FL) It is a shame there are no other classy Cigar Lounges in Raleigh. I guess if you the only one you can do what you want because you have no competition. Havana Deluxe has a classy looking website to make it attractive but it is smoke and mirrors. I don't think I will be back and will spend my money elsewhere. I do not recommend. read more

If you want to talk about post-punk bands we've seen and vaguely remember, Dr. Who, pairing good Scotch or lousy Bourbon with a cigar, 3D printers, bit-coin exchanges, hockey, Canada or any number of sundry important and topical subjects...and if you can hold your own...and don't come across all douchey...you'll have a ton of fun here. The clientele is...varied...Spider Robinson might have written Calahan into Havana's. Many nights there's Jeopardy!...followed by hockey...football in season...rarely baseball... It is not just Havana -- it is Deluxe! ;-) With its leather couches, well-stocked bar and nice selection of cigars, this is one of my favorite hangouts. This is the first bar/private club to open in the once rundown area that developed into what is now swanky Glenwood South. I don't think they have ever spent a dime on advertising, and yet Havanas has weathered the ups and downs that have destroyed lesser bars. That fact alone attests to its staying power and popularity. It is a mainstay among the Glenwood South service industry crowd, and is a nice respite for those nights when you want to get away from the slick-haired, high-heeled crowds trolling Glenwood. I would say that the crowd here is one of the more eclectic in the area. I once joked with the bartender that the Wilmington Street/Fayetteville Street District seemed to cater to the hipsters, most of Glenwood caters to the yuppies, and for the rest of us there was Havanas. :) Havanas is also one of the few places in town that carries Strongbow English Cider, so if you ever see me in there, feel free to buy me a pint :-) read more

I like to think of Havanas as my little secret downtown hangout. It's got an unassuming exterior so the door is easy to miss, but it's right next to some of the busiest parts of South Glenwood. If you're not comfortable inhaling cigarette/cigar smoke, then this bar is definitely not for you. It's one of the most chill places downtown and awesome for a couple of drinks and playing a round of darts or watching the game on the projector screen. They've got plenty of seating and comfy couches to hang out on and even a special menu from a local food truck for philly cheesesteaks that you can text and they'll deliver straight to your seat in Havanas. The crowd is a little older usually so there's no drunk rambunctiousness found at the other clubs/bars nearby. Word of caution: try to use the bathroom elsewhere. read more
