We wanted the work done as we had plans to fully finish the already partially finished basement. They finished the job but at the first rainfall, we had more water in the basement that we've ever experienced in the 12 years we lived in the house. The water came in under the floors of the finished section of the basement where we never had any water issues. Additionally, the window wells they installed retained stagnant water and did not drain properly. When we asked John to come fix the issue, he came up with multiple excuses including that we possibly had a spring and indicated that we had cracks in our foundation that could have allowed water to seep in. He basically tried to deflect blame to anything but the work he did and wanted us to pay for additional work to install another drain for the window well issue. We eventually hired a third-party landscaper to assess his work where they determined that he installed the French drain incorrectly (essentially too low that there wasn't enough slope for water to drain through the pipe). He initially disagreed with their assessment but after speaking with them he admitted that his people may have made a mistake. He then offered to fix the issue but from our experience with him at that point, we had lost confidence that he would do the job right. Overall, a disappointing experience!

While here, I had them redo our front walkway, relay existing walkways, reset granite stairs, fix a drainage issue, and complete the pool decking expansion, and project manage the whole pool renovation.. they worked with me until we got the designs right. The front walkway is an irregular shape, with sides of uneven lengths and curves. Making everything line up perfectly is truly a sign of their excellent skill set. In short, Craig is honest, ,trustworthy, detail oriented, conscientious, a problem solver, perfectionist, and easy to work with . The crew showed up on time and cleaned up each day. They were friendly, and the kind of people you want working at your home. Craig went above and beyond- he spent a day with me, traveling to 3 yards to find a stone that would work for the curved wall of my pool. While coordinating schedules with other contractors on the job, I received compliments about Craig's diligence and commitment.. "Like an old school contractor- don't see many like that anymore." I then go through my process of reviewing price, technical evaluation, value, etc. Rutter just redid my roof, and I am very happy with the results. They were the 2nd lowest price of 4 vendors, but their warranty and recommendation from my friend's dad were deciding factors. He's a retired general contractor, and when I told him I needed my roof replaced, this was the company he told me to go to. If you look at their reviews here, 1 is for "bad driving" and 2 are for missed appointments or miscommunication. The rest are all 5 stars. People love to knock a company online, but rarely vouch for them when they do a good job. When I went under contract with them, it took them 6 weeks to get their crew out here. Do you think that was because they don't work hard? Or is it because they have such a steady workload... On top of that, I was talking to the project manager and he mentioned he started doing doors and windows, I told him about a janky bedroom door that had never closed in the 3 years we'd lived here, and he took his tools and in 10 minutes fixed it for me. No extra charge, just a medium sized company, doing things the right way. I will be considering them for my next project, because apparently they do decks too. He was very knowledgeable with older homes that have stone & mortar foundation and I can tell he has been doing this for a long time. I had a full basement overhaul starting with a new sump pump installed, to my walls being wire brush and getting new concrete parging, waterproofing inside as well as outside on one side of the wall and had 4 support support removed and new ones installed. As for his staff, I got to meet Lorenzo's & Darren's teams. They were very professional, came on time and very knowledgeable of the entire project. They made sure the areas were kept cleaned and covered anything that needed to be covered. If they came across any issue it was address immediately. So there is no possible way his employees were up on a roof on thanksgiving day. Second, Dale....if there was an issue you should have called and asked to speak to Jim. When there are issues like this, he gets involved and handles every situation. Finally, Jenn....if you call everyday you would definitely be able to speak with Jim because he works everyday and is involved with his business. ok I'm going to start with the positive . Great products and great installers!!!!…read more Now to the negative . Had the designer come out to he house in May of 2022.Measured doors we picked out doors etc. Put down the deposit. was told doors would be ready in September. September comes no call from Chapman. I call them with no response at all. The customer service and response from Chapman was awful a zero. Finally get a date for installation which ends up to be December of 2022, 3 months after I was told doors would be in. after many calls from me to set up install no calls from Chapman ever . They come with the door finally and the door was measured wrong by the designer. They have to order a new door. Installer said he was supposed to have come out and measured again before doors were ordered which never happened. Installer was amazing. New door comes in of course I had to call Chapman they never called me to tell me doors were in. Scheduled a date again . Chapman screwed up installation date a few more times. Today Chapman finally came out to put the last piece on the door . Products are very good and our installer was excellent!!! Chapman customer service and support was awful. They never called me I always reached out to them. Never confirmed appt . Not sure I would ever use them again
