This organization is a rarity, it's critical for younger generation to meet the ambassadors of the animal world, to truly connect with them, to save them from the real threats,..Poachers, social agendas, that people hide behind as non profit, to reap rewards while others pay their way. I saw their elephants at the fair yesterday and they looked very sad. Not only that they looked depressed, tired and sick. They also looked like they had been drugged. It looked like one had sores on it's leg. I didn't ride them and never would. I felt if I had ridden them I would have caught some disease. Have Trunk Will Travel is a unique blend of inspiration, mystery, and oneness between the elephants, the trainers, and to all who are fortunate to get the chance to visit or work alongside these ginormous beauties. After spending only a few minutes with these incredible creatures, we were overcome with awe in how the elephants chose to connect with us. Their behavior was not by direction, cues and reward, but because the elephants choice to do so on their own. We've never experienced anything like this ever! When a formation was asked of the elephants, instruction was mutually exchanged. For example, standing a few yards away, a whisper barely heard along with a soft touch similar to being tapped on the shoulder awaiting a secret was all it took for the elephants to be guided into group and individual action. Just WOW! There is a special bond between the elephants and their human companions, their environment where they rest their cute trunks at night is something we found electrifying. It is evident in how the elephants respond to their human trainers and caretakers that the gray giants love them back because they are loved by respect, not by submission. Watching and receiving eye to eye contact between elephant and human is something we hope everyone gets to experience at some point in their lifetime. The take away we will hold forever dear to our hearts is what an honor it is to be loved by an elephant. read more

I contacted these guys five separate times. I had only one sincere question, and that was whether the elephants were rescues or not. I was ignored all five times. My intention was not to create a confrontation, rather, collect information so I could make an informed decision whether to book an event with them and the children from my child development center. I was disappointed that they lacked the professionalism and "integrity" just to answer my one simple question. It makes me feel like they are ashamed, or at the very least not proud of how, where, and why they obtained their animals. Not a company I would do business with. read more

We recently had a very unique field trip opportunity provided to us by Have Trunk Will Travel. We were able to experience on of God's most powerful animals and yet feel so safe. This organization truly lives out their mission statement. They allowed lots of hands-on experiences for the children and educated them on the care of the animals. They also educated us on this endangered species and created an awareness and concern we all took from their message. It is an honor to write about our experience with Have Trunk will Travel. I am so very thankful for being given the opportunity to not only attend myself but to bring along others that enjoyed the gift this family gave us. An up close and personal visit with this amazing operation and their gentle giants. Having bred and raised all types of small to large livestock it is easy to spot animals that are in distress - these animals are well cared for, loved and enjoyed the day as much as we did. The interaction was incredible. Their love of this species and their passion to educate others about them shows their dedication. The trust showed by the elephants in their handlers left no doubt that they are very well cared for. The mutual respect was amazing. The owners and elephants of this business provide one of the finest and most inspiring animal experiences possible. I would strongly recommend booking them for a program. Humans fail to appreciate things they are unfamiliar with, and nothing can enhance appreciation for elephants more so than seeing them up close and in person. The elephants are given exceptional care at a first rate facility, and they obviously have a very tight bond with their caretakers. The elephants love to perform; I once watched one elephant enthusiastically going through a routine, and the others had to be held back because they wanted to get in on the act as well. The owners are deeply commited to education and conservation, which I greatly appreciate. And having spoken to numerous individuals actually in the animal business, I have heard nothing but tremendous praise for the quality and compassionate care provided by the owners. My husband and I had the great privilege and profound experience of meeting these wonderful animals and their owners and trainers while visiting California. They spent an incredible 4 hours with us, educating us about their care, training and love for them. It is a shame that PETA and it's agenda have done so much damage the general public's future experience of being "up close and personal" with Tai, Rosie, Becky, Kitty, other elephants and the Johnsons. The Johnson's and their trainers are the salt of the earth and have only the highest motives in protecting their elephants and this species. Their mission is in educating people to the protection and future of the elephant. There is no "pain" involved. Others that have posted negative reviews about HTWT should be ashamed. They obviously have not spent any time with the Johnson's and their trainers, or they would know better. GET EDUCATED PEOPLE...before you slander them. Our visit with them, at their immaculate compound, with these beloved creatures, was one of the most profound experiences of my 71+ years on this earth. I contacted HTWT for a family event in Riverside County. The owners were very forthcoming with information about the elephants and how they could visit our event. They were very diligent about checking with local agencies for approval prior to confirming they could attend. On the evening of the event, they arrived as scheduled dressed professionally. They provided exactly what I had anticipated and then some. I am extremely grateful for the staff's helpful and informative attitudes and their professionalism and accommodation of the logistics of our event. I had expected a level of interest from the attendees, but I could not have imagined the amount of excitement, curiosity and appreciation from adults and children alike. To be able to combine some education about these creatures with up-close interaction gives us an appreciation that cannot be had from images or from seeing them in captivity. A neighbor of mine here in Chatsworth, CA hired this group for a child's birthday party. This poor, scared, 30-year-old elephant was forced to give rides to the kids and also to do a handstand before she left. The only way an elephant would do that is if she is tortured, broken, scared, and forced to do it. No elephant would naturally do this. The two owners of the elephant both had bullhooks in their hands the whole time. When I asked if they used the bullhooks, the woman said oh yes, but they are just leads, they are just used to guide her. I then asked for a business card, but she refused to give me one. She would not even give me the name of their company, but I saw it anyway. I am horrified to see how they torture and hurt this poor beautiful, intelligent creature for human entertainment, and I hate that this is being shown to children as acceptable behavior. Disgusting. We need to stop this. Please DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. read more

One if not the finest organized and as perfect as you can get it to house these amazing Pachyderms (Elephants) have for a sanctuary. This is in my opinion Jurassic Park meets Disneyland for Elephants that was created by The Johnson's with nothing but their elephant and horse companions in mind. If Anyone even questions it with out visiting and knowing this paradise for pachyderms is only a hater with issues and I don't mean a Marvel Comic issue either. Just know before you take my word or any haters word see it for yourself. Meet the Johnson's for yourself they are very kind, knowledgeable, and approachable unlike some of their critics...
