Nick Patterson arrived at hour home very shortly after 8 am. He was very professional and thorough. He answered questions clearly and explained any issues he found in an easy to understand manner. I was especially happy that he told us about the air cleaner attachment to effectively clean the air in the entire house. We purchased the unit and Nick clearly explained how it worked. Haven Home Climate came in to do a regular service on my furnace and then shut it down with a red tag and said it was too dangerous to use. Sales department immediately called me to offer a brand new furnace to be installed the next day. Felt like I was held hostage by them. I was able to call another company for a second opinion and they turned my furnace back on; nothing was wrong with it at all. Completely lied to me. I reported them to the TSSA and they are now under investigation. Sadly, since then, I have learned this is a common tactic used by Haven. Also - they are not local and are owned by an American venture capital firm. read more

I called haven home for a quote to replace a Garage Heater in my workshop, Sales came and quoted me $10000, I told him I could buy a Mr. Heater for $1100 and could Haven Home hook up the gas? He got back to me and said they needed to take a look at it to give me an estimate but if I accepted the job the "estimate fee" would be waved. A tech came in and looked at it, said yes they could do the job but needed parts. I was told on that Wednesday that he would be back "this week", I waited Thursday and Friday with a no show, I called Tuesday and was told that I needed to accept the job via email and they would give me a quote. After the call I received an invoice for $190, I called and was told that this was a "diagnostic fee" and the quote for the job was $400. I explained that I was told the "estimate fee" would not be charged if I accepted the job, after an upsetting conversation the "diagnostic fee" was waved. I called around to competitors and was given a quote of $125 for labour per hour (Haven home is $175 per hour) and found a hook up kit for the heater for $50, no estimate fee or diagnostic fee to hook up an appliance. The total for Home Haven if I had paid the "diagnostic fee" would have been $600 to hook up a gas appliance!! I have cancelled the appointment with Home Haven and they will not charge me the "diagnostic fee", ("estimate fee"). I have purchased a Heat Pump and Furnace from Haven Home a couple of years and wanted to keep all my heating with one company but the labour and parts are more expensive than there competitors. It is my opinion that the original $600 to hook an existing gas line is excessive and not inline with the competition approximately double the cost. The "misunderstand" over "diagnostic fee" or as I was told a fee for a quote can be avoided if you call around. Very disappointing. read more

Zero Stars, Terrible customer service and no accountability. You can't even call the kingston office direct, call elsewhere for a second quote. Had haven replace a furnace in 2019 and two weeks ago it was condemned due to several large leaks including one in the furnace. They quoted the work at $2400 when we were supposed to have 5 years labour and 10 years parts. They never registered the furnace as we were told they would, leaving us without labour warranty and only 5 year parts. I questioned pricing and they quickly dropped it to $1700. The work was done by Stinson Heating for $785! Today Haven invoiced for the call to address infractions from Enbridge on their 3 year old furnace. Again, I should have 5 years labour warranty! read more

We were in Kingston for a very short period of time to do repairs on a property we own there. Having service on our natural gas fireplace while we were there was critical. After an initial mix-up regarding an appointment, we spoke to a manager and Haven Home Comfort went above and beyond to make it right. We have used them in the past for fireplace cleaning and to install a new air conditioner and the service is excellent. I would always use them for future needs. read more

Honestly although they are quick, the prices are way too high and you're going to get ripped off. We needed a circuit board replaced and they charged us a whopping $1,800 only to then quote another $2,100 for motor changes. All told $3,900.00 without any wiggle room on price. The whole system to go in was only about $7,000 a few years back. Not a company I want to work with ever again. read more

Had the annual maintenance on the furnace yesterday. Safety is clearly a priority as Kenn arrived all PPE'd up. He clearly explained what he was going to do and set about his work. Upon completion of his work, he told me a copy of his report was coming via email (nice- no paper to touch). This company has provided me with dangerous service that resulted in costly repairs. I sent the following letter to them and got absolutely no reply. Marci McMullen Haven Home Climate Care, 2495 Princess Street, Kingston ON K7M 3G1 Dear Ms. McMullen: About ten years ago, I moved into my home with an old but working furnace. From then until last fall, I have been a Haven customer. I am extremely unsatisfied with your technicians. Twice they have made mistakes even an apprentice should not and other technicians failed to notice and rectify these mistakes. Two weeks after my annual furnace inspection, I contracted with Haven to install an AC system. Much to my surprise and to the surprise of the second technician, he had to condemn the furnace because it wasn't safe. I ended up buying a new furnace and a new AC at the same time. At that time, we reached a satisfactory agreement about the furnace. Last fall, I had to call another contractor because my furnace wasn't working. He told me there was water in the furnace and I required a new one. He also determined the cause: improper ventilation that allowed water to enter the furnace from outside. The external ventilation is still there for you to view if you wish. The new installers redid all the ventilation from scratch. Why does your company have such poor technical service? There was one technician who failed to find an unsafe furnace early on; an installer who didn't know how to correctly vent a furnace and various technicians doing the annual service afterwards who failed to notice the incorrect venting. As a result, I have had to install a new furnace up to ten years early. I am requesting that you refund me one year of service agreement payments as your technicians did not do a satisfactory job and cost me a lot of money. Had a yearly furnace servicing by Home Haven - Adam the service tech was very helpful. Gave me a bunch a pointers about running our fan on low all the time and how adding some cold air returns in the basement will help with heat and humidity.
