Sunrise at Sandy Beach with Daisy
Osman P.

We had a great experience renting Daisy. She was fully equipped, reliable, and comfy for several nights of camping on Oahu. No troubles what so ever in arranging the rental, Brad and Jill were very helpful. Highly recommended. UPDATE: 1. I'm not sure why my review is filtered. Supposedly it's an automated process. If you'd like to look me up, I live in Boulder, CO. Google my first name and Boulder. I'm real and we paid to rent Daisy (not the other way around). 2. Before you rent, do your homework on where you want to go on the island. There are lots of spots where you can camp for the night, some legal and some not so legal. Some great, some not so great. A few hours doing research before you pick up the van is time well spent. 3. These vans are classic machines. With Daisy especially, you're effectively driving an antique. Like any older vehicle, it can be a bit quirky = but I thought it was in GREAT condition given it's age. That said, I had no issues with gas or batteries, no bump starts, really no problems.

Great, simple and convenient camping gear rental service. The person who runs it is very nice.

Brent, the owner, has thought of everything and has put so much aloha into renovating this gem. From the custom mango wood cabinets and floors, to the beautiful Hawaiian print curtains. The camper comes equipped with anything you need for a great Hawaiian adventure: cooking utensils, bedding, beach chairs, surf boards, you name it! Mango has a kitchen with a cook top and a good sized built in cooler. This past trip we took Mango on a beach camping trip at Bellows. The camper top is easy to navigate and very comfortable. The back seat also converts into a bed, sleeping a total of four adults. Brent installed lights in the van that are functional and super cool. You can utilize white lights or the multi-colored LED lighting. A few technical things about Mango: she's a manual vehicle with four speeds. Brent installed a back up camera for more ease and safety when navigating in reverse. The camper is from the 70's, so no air conditioning. Honestly, the windows provide enough air flow and allows you to breathe in the Hawaiian air. There is no power steering, but that's part of the vintage charm! This trip we traveled with our three year old son (and his car seat). Despite having no car seat laws in the 70's, we were able to safety install his car seat without a fuss. Our son absolutely loved, loved, loved, driving around! Renting a camper van allows you to see the island authentically and with amenities at your finger tips. Definitely recommend Hanahou Campers! We will be back!

The day before the truck pick up I had booked what I thought was 2 dollies and 6 moving pads to be picked up at the 438 Kamakee location. Upon arrival, I found that I had ordered a full compliment of moving supplies and worse, the dollies were not at this location. So I picked up the pads and had them cancel the other order which they did and refunded me. But my concern that their cancellation would also cancel my truck had me call the Keolu location to confirm where I found out they just changed their hours and now didn't open till 0900. Since I had arranged fir three very busy friends to assist in my move at 0700, I was very upset. The guy at Keolu said he would make an exception and I could get the truck at 0715. So on pick up day, I arrived at 0715 to the Keolu location to find it closed. I waited till 0745 till a lady arrived and curtly informed me she didn't work till 0800. She evenly got her system up and I got the truck. My friends all wasted a hour of their morning, like I did, waiting for Keolu to open. When I turned in the truck early, I was told the guy I spoke to yesterday had no authority to promise the truck at 0715 when in fact he was off that day. Not a good experience at all.
