This was a completely chance encounter as we had stopped for a coffee in Bennington and happened to…read morewalk past the store. What a veritable Aladdin's Cave of goodies it is - like the Tardis, it's much bigger on the inside than it looks. One half of the store is devoted to artist supplies - indeed, they boast of being the largest artists' supply store in Vermont. The other half is dedicated to cards, toys, bags, scarves, gifts, farden ornaments, pet things and other handy little gadgets that you didn't know you needed in your life until you saw them here. Honestly, we spend at least half an hour in here just looking around. You will be amazed at the variety of stuff they sell. Upstairs is a small but select gallery of artworks for sale, although I confess that I didn't make it past the stair landing as I got distracted by something else that I glimpsed downstairs. The owners were very chatty and friendly, especially when they found out that we were Scottish. They told us about a relative they had lost in the Lockerbie disaster, asking us if we knew the area. A poignant connection. We both emerged with lots of small gifts that will no doubt be disseminated next Christmas. Had it been earlier in our trip we'd probably have bought more stuff, but as we were heading homewards we were limited to how much more we could squeeze into our bags!

Later that day, I brought my wife in to test ride one. She enjoyed it so much, we bought it on the spot. I'd known about Vermont's financial incentive programs and asked about them. Apparently there was some confusion about how it worked, and I left thinking I had to apply for a rebate, but in fact it's a voucher program. That meant I had to apply for the voucher, then use it towards the purchase of an e-bike. I contacted the state's program and was told I had no recourse. I called the shop and spoke with Andrew, who was very apologetic, offered a solution that met with our satisfaction. What it came down to is that I can get an e-bike anywhere in Vermont. It's the customer service that will bring me back, time after time.

Walked in this morning with the intention of buying a bike and let the clerk know that that's why I was there. I told him that I wanted to look at some bikes with him as soon as he got a chance. He then proceeded to wait on other people who came in after me and I finally had to remind him that I have been waiting 20 minutes to look at a bike. After the weight and then basically told that they have very limited stock and if I wanted The kind of bike he would recommend for me that I would have to order it out of a catalog, site unseen, and I would own the bike even if it didn't suit me when it arrived.
