I have also taken the kids to some of the mansion tours and the presentations about nature in the park building. Enjoyed those too.

The wide variety of trails and the mileage of trails is why visit here more. Dog friendly and very relaxed leash policy. Trails are pretty well maintained. Very rocky and hilly. Lots of watering holes, but most are dried up toward the middle of season. Trails are marked via painted trail markers on trees or rocks. Maps are scarce so make sure to snap a pic of one before venturing. The yellow trail from start to finish is ~9 miles alone and most trails interlink with each other. Very easy to get lost if you don't know the park. Parking is free. I usually park on Mill st where the State Forest Fire department is located, but there's probably 10+ parking areas surrounding the park including one off route 1 near Gillette. Con: terrain is tough, especially if you want to run. Also easy to get lost. I can't stress this enough. Take a pic of the map before going in the park. 4/5 stars

At approximately 64 acres, this land is a quiet, peaceful place to stretch your legs. Tucked away on Pond Street, there is a dirt parking lot that allows several cars to pull in off the road. The land was purchased by the Rehoboth Land Trust when the Congregational Church at the center of town required funds to repair their sanctuary ceiling and steeple. Wanting to maintain the land as undeveloped, this area remains open to the public to soak in the sights and sounds of nature. Hunting is allowed on the property in-season so be sure to take precautions, as appropriate. Swamps, old fields, brooks, and a high knoll mark the land. A map of the area greets you when you pass through the main gate, though I feel like there were more trails than what was pictured. All-in-all, there are only so many ways to go so its hard to get lost. There are some ups and downs and a lovely little boardwalk that helps you traverse some of the wetlands. The trails were very well maintained and easy to traverse - the blue to orange path gives you a nice loop through the land. The furthest end of the loop skirts the Rehoboth Village Cemetery if you want to make a quick detour.

Be careful when putting the address into your navigation, especially Waze users, as it took us to the totally wrong location at first. Once you arrive, however, parking is pretty straightforward. It costs $10/car. The staff at the hut where you pay for parking was super helpful in letting us know what route would best suit our time constraints. We were even given a map! The trails were pretty clear, some maybe weren't as clearly defined as they could've been. Note for hikers: this does feel like more a stroll in the park as opposed to a true hike. Some hidden paths did feel like one, however, so don't be afraid to venture off what seems to be the most defined routes. We loved the views of the Boston skyline, harbour, and Hull, MA. This place is definitely worth a visit. I'm looking forward to coming back in autumn to see some good foliage!

It covers about 1.5 miles of trail, so you won't necessarily get a workout in, but the views are really quite beautiful. I'd highly recommend taking the Talaquega Trail up to Woody's Way. It takes you around Lake Talaquega, which is absolutely breathtaking. The trail is well-organized with plenty of clear signage. We discovered halfway through the walk that blue dots represent going INTO the trail, while yellow dots show you OUT of the trail. Lastly, there's a parking lot, my friends, so getting there should be a breeze. Happy hiking! Quick tip: EIther go in the Winter (like we did) or bring some bug spray. I've heard that this can get pretty buggy in the warmer months.

I hope someday that CT will get enough money to be able to upgrade some of its parks…read more We came here as part of their Sky's the Limit Challenge, and it was a really interesting experience. On paper, this trail goes 5.8 miles from Moosup to the RI border, where it joins the RI Trestle Trail. It starts out at a nice, beautifully framed railroad bridge in Moosup, and then heads off, as a nicely paved path. Then, at Barber Hill Road, about 3/4 of a mile in, the paved part stops. It gets kind of fire road like for a while, and, well, it gets GNARLY. We were there in winter, and there was a lot of frozen and semi frozen water on the path. I am guessing it might stay that way year round (wet at least) because there are plenty of desire trails along the sides at times, allowing you to bypass the wettest parts. Eventually, it starts undulating, and this is because a lot of dirt bikers seem to like to use this trail, in opposition to what the regulations say the trail is meant to be used for. One dirt biker politely made his way past us, so they at least have some etiquette, even though they're doing some erosion damage to the trail. We didn't hike the full path, and I'm really glad we didn't try to take our bikes on this, as it would have been impossible. Like I said, maybe someday there will be money to turn this into a real rail trail all the way east. Until then, make sure you wear good hiking boots!
