While traveling through Mid Ohio, I stopped by the Crossings Countryside Market recently for some food. I ordered The Austen 12" Sub ($5.99), smoked honey roasted turkey breast, smoked gouda, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, and mayo. The sub was made to order, topping choices written on paper wrapper as I ordered. The Austen Sub I ordered was very big, stuffed with generous amounts of turkey breast and gouda cheese slices and the cold fillings requested in a thick homemade white bread sub roll, which was firm outside and had a soft and chewy texture. This was one of the best deli subs I had this year. I enjoyed this big hero in my car before heading over to Canton. NOTE: The owners have made the tough decision to become a seasonal market moving forward due to family needs. They will close for the season on Saturday July 27, 2019 and they hope to reopen in the summer of 2020.

Cheeses are from all over the world and all types spicy, sharp, dill, bacon, champagne, almost anything you can think of. Prices are more expensive than Giant Eagle, Trader Joe's, Aldi's and most stores. But the combination of cheese flavors are pretty unique. Something you can't just get at those other stores. And think of it as a treat. You're not going to buy that cheese every week. So a treat is nice. Overall it is a fun experience for the whole family. We didn't go to the chocolate Sweeties side. I also snagged a box of fritters for the rest of the crew, but I sat silently on their porch swing and ate that donut and drank my basic coffee in blissful silence. It was the perfect way to start my day. They also offer an abundance of groceries and supplies for campers since the campground is nearby. It appears there is a little restaurant that's adjacent and a walk-up window for morning donut and coffee runs that closes at 10:30am.
