Mel thank you so much for the conversation, great advice and your clear passion for art. This was one of our favorite stops in Nashville (Franklin). This gallery has a wide variety of prints that will peak any art lovers interest. If you're a visitor in Franklin and looking for something cool to do definitely stop in. If you are looking for art for your home and either know exactly what you want or have no clue how to fill up your walls, I would urge you to stop in and talk with Mel. The Rare Prints Gallery in downtown Franklin is really awesome. The place is full of a gorgeous…read moreselection of ornithological prints, and all kinds of other prints of foliage, whales, and scenery. The room is large with tall 20 foot ceilings. The prints are hung inornamental frames and placed all along the wall from the floor all the way to the top of the room. These prints are really worth looking at, you can get some of them for under $200. It's a great place to start your art collection, or get a gorgeous rare print.

Was heading for the antique shops in Nolensville for a bit of window shopping when I passed a shop…read moreI had not seen before. Got turned around and dropped in on Backroads Revival. Met Cherie who was manning the shop while her husband was out. She has a number of photographs she has taken displayed in the store...she has an incredible eye for detail and subject matter. Her animal images are really wonderful and quite vivid. Spent some time talking with Shawn...the co-owner. This store houses all kinds of vintage industrial items, some they have converted into usable household items. There is some really neat items here to create a one of a kind item for your home and they are adding items all the time. Shawn was fun to talk to and shared all kinds of ideas that some of the items there could be used for. Highly recommend you stop and visit with Cherie and Shawn...great people and a wonderful shop and barn to poke around in and find yourself a new treasure.

A friend brought me along to the Special Parade of Planets Telescope Night and I had a blast. We roamed the roof to various telescopes and were able to see Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Seeing Saturn's rings and Jupiter's gaseous colored atmosphere was so unbelievably cool. The staff were super nice and knowledgeable as we approached each telescope. On the front lawn, an astrophotography enthusiast had set up shop and was showing live footage of the Andromeda galaxy. Whether you're already an astronomy enthusiast or just want to try something different one evening, the observatory is absolutely worth a visit!

Thankfully, customers can browse through some stores, including Shimai, on the Loveless property while they're waiting. Shimai features art, crafts, pottery and other creations produced by local artisans. When I walked in, I had a sense of calmness come over me. It helped that this store was well lit and the sunshine flooded the place through the multi-paned windows. This little store seemed like a museum, with everything being so nice. I can't even begin to imagine how many total countless hours it took the many local artists to create everything that was in Shimai. The were pottery pieces, handblown glass art, paintings, jewelry, women's articles of clothing, and so many pieces of art that can be hanged on the wall. Just know that most of these art pieces come with a high price. But they're very beautiful!
