Peppermint park is an annual holiday decorated public park tucked away in an easy to miss downtown…read morenew Albany business district. The park for 11 months of the year is called bicentennial park and serves as a place to sit and relax for workers in the area or patrons of bars and eateries to relax. Come the holiday season or is splashed with lights and decorations and redubbed peppermint park. Overall a cool little holiday sight Ron heck out for any fans of holiday lights and little events. Me and the kids enjoyed strolling through it.

Even when there were some other children around, there's plenty of room for lots of people to play. ONLY 2 COMPLAINTS: no water fountains ANYWHERE. Thankfully, I had read some previous reviews so I was equipped with a cooler full of water bottles for the kids, on this 90 plus degree day. AND for the time of day that we were there, (1:30-4:00pm) with so few people, it was surprising to find the restrooms with no toilet paper in ANY stall, and nothing to dry your hands after washing. Even still, I would take the kids back to this playground again and again. It's a bit of a drive for us, but the children loved it!

Lots to do, safely fenced in with only one entrance/exit so parents can monitor easily. To get my nine year old to leave I had to promise we'd return - and we will! I guess it is considered off-season right now because only one of the doors out of four was unlocked and there was poop smeared on the walls and on the floor... I understand not wanting to have to clean four separate showers but leaving one shower for everyone to have to use considering their isn't someone cleaning it daily is unprofessional and inconsiderate. Also, we asked for firewood and saw a pallet of it behind the building but wasn't allowed to purchase any. The hours on the store are flaky and I'm never coming in late April again. We wanted to avoid the crowds but that wasn't a good choice I guess. Also, tent camping left us hearing the neighboring tent guests sounding like hound dogs from midnight until 3 am. I went to sleep about 10 and woke up to sex sounds louder than anything I've ever heard. I was about to go offer them a pair of socks to shove in their mouths. Maybe I'm not meant for this lifestyle if there are no standards

There are definitely nicer parks in New Albany, but we're still better off having Binford Park than…read morenot having it. The main draw is soccer; those games are a lightning rod for New Albanians and fill up the park. Beyond those games, this park rarely attracts more than a handful of people, so finding peace and quiet here isn't a challenge. There's a spiffy basketball court and a decent playground as far as amenities go, and when it's not a game day, parking is easy as pie. Binford Park used to have a sketchy reputation, but the City of New Albany has made a respectable effort to turn this around. If you park in the very back, you'll likely find a clue or two that some after-hours partying (...and perhaps a bit more) happens here, but the park as a whole feels completely safe during the day. But while it's great that the park's been cleaned up, it still feels underdeveloped to some degree, with a lot of empty space and nothing to really make it stand out. Also, whoever runs this park seems to have a vendetta against benches, because there's like... 1 picnic bench in the entire park. It's bizarre. There's a lot of potential with this park, really. New Albany is on the up-and-up and I could see the city doing cool things with this park as downtown continues to break out. As it stands, Binford is no Sam Peden by any means but it's still a decent enough community resource.

It is optimized (I would say) for soccer/field sports. This includes new sod and irrigation system. There is a decent amount of parking, though when it is busy in the evenings or on weekends it can be tough to move about in a car quickly. There are public bathrooms and concession stand open during certain park events (E.g., soccer games). Two thumbs up for Binford Park!

Beautiful and easy walking trail located in Brandenburg Kentucky. We decided to check this place…read moreout after stopping by in popular Brandenburg attraction jailhouse pizza. The gps with the current yelp address took us to some industrial area with construction called buttermilk falls commerce. It said we had another 1.5 miles to go but there was a sign that said trails with an arrow pointing left. Right past that is a security shack for the commercial buildings. The very nice gentleman there told us the gps is wrong that we can park in a gravel lot right behind us where the trails sign was. Or if we were out of Towners he recommended parking at riverfront park right by jailhouse pizza and grabbing some pizza and walking the calories off as the other entrance is located there. We literally had just left that area so we did some unnecessary driving. After popping a u turn and parking in the Gravel parking lot you enter a park entrance that is gravel and has a sign. Buttermilk falls is about 2.5 miles one way and on a straight line that ends at the river front park. We took the concrete road and about 1/4 a mile in you see a break off nature path called "Emmett falls trail" you could either go here or stay on the concrete path. We took the scenic wooded path. It was about .5 miles of real beautiful and pretty scenery until we reached the very large and wonderful Emmett falls. They have a lovely seating area right at the bottom and you can climb to the top of th waterfall as well. Emmett falls is the only "large" waterfall in buttermilk falls. At the tail End of the trail towards the riverfront parks you hit stretch of several beautiful small ones. But Emmett is the big boy! After that you you can trek back onto the path you was in before veering left to the waterfall and continue forward which will take you back to the concrete path you was originally on. Or you can cross over to the concrete path immediately and then head back to the gravel parking lot by hanging a right or continue left and move forward on the concrete path. Once back on the concrete path you will cross a few lovely bridges and scenic opportunities. You will encounter one port o pot about the halfway point. You continue along the concrete trials and as you get closer to the riverfront park entrance there are several very small and beautiful water falls everywhere on both sides of the concrete path. Very lovely and great photo ops. Once reaching the other small waterfalls we turned around and took the concrete path all the way back. So we kinda created are own loop. Very nice, simple and beautiful walking trails. As for where to park for out towners like myself it depends on want you want to see. If you want to see the huge Emmett falls first then I would park at the entrance of buttermilk falls commerce as it is closer to that entrance. If you want to see several tiny ones first then start at the river front park entrance. If your gonna see both then either is good. It would of been nice if we had known you could enter through river front park as we had literally just left that area after eating jailhouse pizza. But either way we still had a great time and enjoyed. I will give a warning at least for AT&T users. You will not have great reception here. Calls and texts are spotty and internet is a no go. So bring plenty of charge and do some pre planning if that's a necessity for you. Overall absolutely worth checking out. We spent a day in Brandenburg all in that same vicinity and the entire family and group of friends we went with had a wonderful and memorable time.

This is where they actually train and have opened this little piece to the public. Come and join me in some hiking . They have ample parking but can fill up. A lot of individuals bring their dogs, make sure and take care. After a rain storm, and snow storms this area is muddy. While we hiked the trails the mud was all over. But we live in Kentucky. Mud and snow; eventually will not stop us. Just prepare yourself ahead of time. The views of the waterfall are beautiful. On one of the trials it was washed out. But you can make your way around. Nature is the ultimate gift and enjoy it . Make sure and leave nature the way you found it.

This little hike was recommended to me after a snowstorm--which I definitely would not suggest…read more It's mostly uphill, and the wind turned everything into ice, making it really challenging to traverse. Outside of that particular experience (and once I was on the return down-hill), I realized this trail is short, simple, charming , and easy, with a few spots offering really pretty overlook views along the way. About halfway in, a babbling creek starts to follow you, hinting that you're nearing the final destination. Then you can hear the waterfalls before rounding a bend to reveal them. The falls are fantastic with multiple levels and a very peaceful melody. Just a heads-up: the trail begins with a walk down a service road since the original trail is now on private property, roped off as part of a very interesting-looking old house/building. At the end of the service road, there's a short but steep uphill path path to rejoin the trail. After that--smooth sailing.

The cave tour was amazing and our guide was really knowledgeable and entertaining. All of the cave formations were really cool to view, there were so many different types of stalactites and stalagmites throughout the cave. Marengo cave offers activities for all ages, cave tours, crawling tours,slides, putt putt, and a casual restaurant. From what I hear they're gonna offer an additional amenity soon.

Our kids have never been in a deep cave like this, so I thought it would be fun to give them that experience. I'm glad we stopped. Beautiful cave with many unique features and sights. The mirror pool is really cool as well as the organ wall where they used to hold weddings. Most of the cave is pretty easy to navigate and accessible. Our tour guide was really friendly and knew a lot about the history of the cave and area. Cool story on how the cave was found and great history to explore. Prices were reasonable for the time spent in the cave, well worth the time and money for a great caving experience.
