Doctors were great except 2 - whoever was on the 5th floor Monday night, January 19, and the doctor in charge of my care. These 2 doctors and a RN failed to listen to my questions, display empathy, and attributed my distress to GAD. Yes, they diagnosed me with generalized anxiety disorder after our very brief interactions. Dr Guy Adair (the hospitalist in charge of my care) straight up LIED in his notes, saying I was "pacing the hallways." He also became defensive when I asked for clarification regarding my care. When I asked him why I should stay for a 3rd night even though all my symptoms were gone and my blood work was normal, he said, "if you go home now and your infection returns, you could die." I reported his behavior to the RN on duty as well as the discharge nurse. I also submitted a formal complaint online and received a phone call from UCHealth which I appreciated. I also filed a request to amend my medical records. I do not have, nor have I ever, had anxiety. I do still recommend this hospital because of all the other staff who work here. My mom also has been a patient here and 99% of her experience has been positive. For anyone reading this - you have the right to speak up and ask questions. It's YOUR body.

While speaking with him he threw a temper tantrums worse than a 2 year old screaming on the floor. I was told I couldn't come back. The transplant nurses are rude and nasty to try and make the patient feel bad and it's their fault. I had been there in the past and said I will never go back. But, I didn't have a choice. Because they are the big transplant hospital here. I was injured and told if they had to fix my fistula the surgeon would paralyze my hand.

I called yesterday for an appointment and was told none were available, but that we could walk in and be seen without an issue. We arrived at 11:15 and weren't seen by Joseph Silver, the PA, until 12:15. From the start, the appointment felt rushed. He repeatedly interrupted both me and my mom, was dismissive, and showed very little patience while she struggled to answer questions due to her cognitive issues. At 12:40, he told us we would have to wait until 1:00 for blood work because the phlebotomist was on lunch. When I asked if anyone else could draw the blood, he became defensive and repeatedly told me he was missing his lunch to see us. He stated he "didn't have to see us" and could have made us wait until 1:00 before being seen at all. This was especially frustrating because we only came in after being told by the front desk that a walk-in would be fine. Instead of feeling cared for during a stressful situation, I was made to feel guilty for being there. If the practice does not want patients seen during lunch hours, walk-ins should not be encouraged. The lack of patience, compassion, and professionalism during a visit involving a patient with cognitive decline was very disappointing.

At no time was I told that that my plan was out of network. I didn't find out until I received a bill for $340. In the past, any MD office that I would call to make an appointment would let me know if I was in or out of network. If out of network, I obviously find another MD. Dr. A is great! It's the people at the front desk who are obviously totally incompetent.

I was seen promptly and discharged in a timely manner. I do know that they can get extremely busy at peak times, but my experience on this occasion was positive. I was presenting a serious flare of Shingles and a staff infection on my face. I was also experiencing flare pains in my stomach and severe nerve pain in my arm, shoulder, chest and back on my right side. The doctor talked to me for about 3 minutes and then left the room while the nurse took my vitals and found my blood pressure was alarmingly high because of the high level of pain. I received nothing for the pain, no IV for fluids or even a psychical exam of my stomach, chest or back, even with no mobility in my right arm. Their response you ask? An ice pack and a prescription for Neosporin. Embarrassing, bare minimum level of care. They should be ashamed to call themselves an emergency center. Then...they had the audacity to charge me and my insurance for a full ER visit when an urgent care could've done the same thing, probably more. What is the point of going to the ER when I could've just went to the grocery store to get an ice pack and Neosporin? Unacceptable.

Cancer sucks. Case closed…read more Still, if you or someone you love gets the dreaded "c" word, you want them to get the very best treatment possible with as much possible love and care as they could get. I must say, the staff treats my dad as if he was a treasured family member at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Aurora. They are so awesome! Everyone who works there is as nice as they can be. They must all have to pass a good personality test to work there!! Really, they are so nice! We are so blessed to have them taking such great care of my dad. I'm taking one star off because they aren't very strict about people wearing masks. Many people coming into the lobby don't wear masks. They are then given a mask once they check-in...after they could have possibly exposed someone. Even more disturbing, in the room where infusions are given, some of those getting treatment aren't wearing masks and some of the staff nearby doing computer work aren't wearing masks or have them below their chin. This disturbs me greatly when people are literally fighting for their lives and Covid, or another bug or virus of some kind could have adverse effects on their health and well-being. Why so lenient on such a serious issue? Other than the mask issue, I would highly recommend RMCC for cancer treatment. They make it as pleasant as it can possibly be.
