From the beginning of the program there were issues and I should have known then to leave. Between having no teacher at multiple different times throughout the program, not being taught material needed for coursework, and relying on prior classes to assist with teaching I would recommend finding another school. I have 10+ years in healthcare and was able to pass due to prior knowledge, not from the teachers here. There were 2-3 good teachers but the rest were useless, including the multiple nursing directors we had. Complaints were pushed aside by all the higher ups when students complained. Honestly, I am extremely disappointed with this school's administration. If you are already enrolled and you have experienced how they operate, my advice is simple: stay focused, finish your program, get your license, and get OUT. The first day of the semester, you will see everybody--administrators, staff, big smiles, handshakes, and all the promises. After that? Baby, you are basically released into the jungle. Communication becomes nonexistent, emails go unanswered, calls and texts get ignored, and you are left trying to figure things out on your own. At the end of my semester, my entire cohort was asked to sign a $1,000 scholarship agreement, with the understanding that we would receive the money if we passed the NCLEX. Well... it has now been a month. I have been calling and texting every week, practically every day, trying to get an answer. Nothing. No response. At this point, I'm not even asking for anything extra--I just want the same energy and communication that was given when they needed us to sign the paperwork. The most frustrating part is the complete lack of respect and accountability. If you're already in, keep your head down, finish what you started, pass that NCLEX, collect your license, and run for the exit! The main issue with these schools, particularly in Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, is that their primary focus is making money rather than providing quality education. This is especially evident in the nursing program, which is poorly structured and fails to meet basic requirements for a proper nursing education. They have no proper curriculum; the teachers are a complete joke, with zero knowledge and unprepared. Obviously, you cannot present any questions to the instructor, because the answer is: "I am already RN; you answer it." this kind of response you get from the teachers,,(however there is may be one or two good teachers unfortunately these never last ), for these who do not teach well is safe heaven for them and never leave, The director of Nursing have prior knowledge how and what is going in the school also about the teachers... The teachers there are revolving doors. All day long, you are instructed to do assignments on the computer for 9 to 10 hours. The program also has an additional hour, but if the class has teachers with the right curriculum books and is getting it right, it is fine to spend hrs there. Unfortunately, no teachers. All you do is assignments. When exams are given, they do not match what was taught because the teachers and the exam department are not coordinated. The Director of Nursing is not aware of what students are being taught or how. Student concerns are disregarded, leading students to stay silent out of fear. In my personal experience, HCI College is a disaster disguised as a nursing program. The confusion, the inconsistency, the lack of communication -- it all felt way too convenient for a place that makes money every time a student has to repeat a course. And now let's talk about the star of the show: Axel Collazo, the Dean of Nursing. In my experience, he's out here making exams from some mystery universe, because he's not even in the classroom to know what is or isn't being taught. The tests felt so disconnected from what we actually went over that I honestly started wondering if he was writing them based on vibes alone. Clear guidelines? Never got them. Straight answers? Good luck. Support? Barely. It felt like everything was intentionally vague so students would fail, repeat, and -- surprise -- spend more money. And Axel is at the center of the chaos like the conductor of this tuition-collecting orchestra. And let me be extra honest: in my personal opinion, the whole dynamic with the female instructors felt... weird. The way they acted around him? Like they were all wrapped around his finger. Almost like whatever Axel says goes, even if students are drowning. Instead of advocating for us, it felt like they were more focused on saying "yes" to him than helping the people actually paying to be there. The energy was off. The whole system felt like: * Axel talks * Everyone else nods * Students get lost, confused, and set up to fail * Then guess who pays for it? US. I left feeling frustrated, disrespected, unsupported, and honestly shocked that a school can operate like this in 2025. First of all, everyone knows that nursing school is challenging. It requires dedication, time, and a lot of effort. However, when it comes to this particular school, I would not recommend it to anyone. It feels like a scam and a complete waste of time. On the first day, you see everyone, but after that, people seem to disappear, and you are left on your own. It feels like being lost in the middle of nowhere. When it comes to asking questions or needing clarification, even the professors are unable to help. It often feels like they are hiding something, as no one is available to provide clear explanations. The security staff at the front door are more present than the actual academic support, which is disappointing. Because of the issues and unprofessional behavior happening at this school, the best instructor resigned. The instructors who remain have even told students that it is okay to fail nursing school because they themselves did not pass on their first attempt. One of those instructors is named Pecet. I strongly recommend choosing another school. After you pay your tuition, it feels like no one is there for you except other students and the front door security. This school is a scam. I only have one star because one was required in order to do this review. If you are considering this school I would make sure I visit other options before signing up for anything these people offer you. My teenage daughter enrolled at this school, and loans were taken out by me payments made. After completing one full semester, she was suddenly blocked from her classes due to a claim of no funding. I received emails instructing me to apply for loans again, but new loans weren't approved and despite multiple emails, phone calls, and voicemails left for financial aid and the Dean, no one has responded or helped resolve this issue. In addition, one of the staff members answering the phone has been extremely rude and unprofessional, using phrases like "like I said" and "if you'd listen to what I'm saying" while speaking to me. This behavior is unacceptable, especially when we are simply trying to get support. This situation has blocked my daughter from continuing the education she already started, and it appears the school is more focused on collecting money than supporting students. They be all on deck when trying to get you to sign up but you can't get a call once they rope you in. I have contacted the BBB, The Commission For Independent Education, The Dept of Education about her funds that's already been sent to that school and will be also filing a complaint with ACCSC. I attended this school. So unprofessional. They wanted us to do a dosage test on things they never taught us. After a lengthy email, they allowed us to retake after they gave us a half asšed attempt at teaching. I tutored a few people. We passed. The nursing director role got passed around to anyone who was there long enough. Finally, in my last semester, a new director (no surprised) completely revised testing, making it even harder to pass. Even if u did pass with an 80%, which was minimum, if u got lower than 50% on any given material, they failed you. This school has taken a great toll on my mental health. The stories I could tell about this place is unreal. I had to stop going, and the kicker to it all is that the credits are non transferable. This means I have to start from 0 if I want to become a nurse. Dried up my financial aid. Save your money and your mental health. They failed so many people to keep the funds coming. When I tell you to read the reviews and believe every single one of them, I mean it 100%. This has been by far the most unprofessional school I've ever dealt with. My daughter was fresh out of high school and unfortunately enrolled here, after the school received the first semester's tuition money, no one would help her with financial aid for the second semester. She was eventually forced to enroll elsewhere, with a college that was actually willing to help her. To make matters worse, this school refused to release her TEAS test results to the new institution. Please do not waste your time or money at this school. I can't stress that enough. I've called numerous people trying to get help before she left, including the person supposedly "in charge" and not a single call was returned. The receptionist was extremely low-class and unprofessional and lacked basic customer service skills; I literally had to give her a quick lesson on professionalism myself. Read all the other reviews you can find. Look at the reviews from the HCI website and you'll see majority of them were done in a car in the parking lot. Consider for yourself if that a coincidence and if they are legit or not. This is not the review of a failing, disgruntled student. At the time of writing this review I have a 97% in lecture, 96% in pharm, and 96% in lab. I attended HCI (west palm campus) from 01/2025 until 03/2025. This review is specific to the West Palm campus, but I am all but positive that your experience would likely be the same at Ft. Lauderdale as well. The "advisors" are very effective at their job in that they will promise you the world in order to get you to sign up. My advisor was Hannah, and from the beginning the red flags were there. I was told that everything was complete, and I was ready to start. I was to be in the Tuesday class. I went to the school multiple times to confirm that everything was good and was told each time that I was good to go. One week before the start of the class I was called and informed that HCI did not have my transcripts from Broward college. I expressed my frustration and was told by Hannah that she didn't have to request them for me, but she did it to help me. I then informed her that I didn't ask her to do that and if I had done it myself, I would have ensured it was done. I then got the transcripts needed on my own and again was told I was ready to start. When I requested my schedule, I was given a Wednesday class, when I told them this isn't the day I signed up for they informed me the Tuesday was full. I again expressed my frustration, and they said they would "try" and accommodate me. Eventually I received a call that I was in the Tuesday class again. Once class started the problems really began. The structure and professionalism of this school is nonexistent. The first week our lab teacher allegedly on FMLA. Two weeks later our lecture teacher also allegedly left on FMLA, the school hired a new pharm teacher who was shadowing and when asked a question I witnessed him googling the question and answer because he clearly didn't know the answer. We didn't our clinical hours at Jupiter rehab, where we clearly were not wanted. There were no accommodations for the students, and we were forced to sit outside on the patio. Mind you its winter in South Florida, so the temperatures ranged from 50 degrees in the morning to 90's in the afternoon. The first clinical instructor we had "Rolle" was zero help from the very beginning she sat on her computer doing who knows what and would not accept, assign, or grade anything for the first six weeks until she was replaced in week seven. This caused a big problem because the new instructor had to assign 6 weeks' worth of work and we had to have it submitted and graded in one week. I requested a meeting with the dean "Dennis" through the new clinical instructor Debbie, the "dean" eventually came in 4 minutes before the end of class to have the discussion in which she simply gave open ended answers in which a circled conversation would ensue. The bombardment of work is absolutely ridiculous. I can see that the strategy of this school is to obliterate the students with busy work to eliminate their study time. I mentioned it several times, and the answer was "welcome to nursing school" or this is an "accelerated program" which it is not. This school is four semesters just like Broward College and Palm Beach state. The administration loves to harp on the NCLEX pass rate except they do not mention the number of students starting and completing the program the on the first attempt. The lectures are pointless to attend, the "instructors" are literally reading the power points word for word. Pharm would have 5-8 chapters in one 2.5-hour class and even less on test nights. The instructor would say there is no way to get through all the material so we would just have to read it at home. If that's the case it should just be an online class instead of wasting time at the campus all day. The lab was extremely unorganized. during practice and signoffs there was no system or structure in place, the mannequins, equipment, and space was old and dated. The have a sim mannequin that they talked about but none of the instructors knew how to work it. This is just a small summary of my time here. I was paying cash and I wound up making the decision to leave after realizing I wasn't going to give them any more money for the second semester. I luckily did all my prerequisites at Palm Beach State, so I am going to complete my nursing there. If I could go back, I would have saved my 10k for the first semester and just started at PBSC. A shame that they call themselves a school. Lies are fed from the second you step into admissions. They dance around the fact and claim to be unsure if the programs are accredited. Just know, only the nursing program has current accreditation. Next, financial aid told me that my credit score could not be affected by taking loans. Yet another lie. In addition, if you have a disability and are interested in using accommodations at this school, be weary. I have a legal disability and requested accommodations for 4 months in a 10 month program. Due to poor communication, those were never made possible. Next, the education remains subpar as the majority of staff is involved in drama becoming far too distracted to focus on all learning material listed in the curriculum. The first teacher I had (ended up being fired) used excessive discrimination against an LGBT student, used racial slurs in class and was in no way qualified to teach students at a "college". Turnover rate for professors is extremely high and while being in this veterinary assisting program for only half the program time, we have gone through several different instructors. Everyone of the 5-6 classmates I started the program with was either kicked out or left due to their own issues with the school. After attending this school for several courses, I managed to maintain a 4.0 GPA until the stress and drama of this dysfunctional school led me to crumble. They were very swift to unenroll me after informing me last minute that my LDA was reaching the maximum days. I had no clue what the LDA entailed past a short description in the handbook. After doing some calculations, I missed half the days they claimed I did and their defense was that LDA includes weekends.. when they are closed. Even then, the days did not add up properly. They then said I could return to the program as long as I repay all the fees as if I was a new student. Poor employee training was obvious as some staff had total control over vital aspects of education and school policies while letting others remain clueless. HCI College has left empty handed and absolutely traumatized by their actions. I am now in a financial hole with little options and nothing to show for it. Biggest regret of my life, save your money and time. If you do decide to attend this school, maybe find a good lawyer just in case. read more

Horrible!! I went there with my son this was the second collage that we visited. we call schedule a tour they were very nice my son liked the school so he pick veterinary assisting program he started in September 2024 first class he was having a difficult time we fill out the 504 form get a letter from his doctor to give him extra time for notes, homework ext. my son has a learning disability they knew that. well he took a final exam he got a 60% so befor the holiday he took the final exam again he got a 69%. They never called or offered any tutoring or anything to help him pass. School start January 2025 he received a text welcoming everyone back to school but at the end it said you have been removed from class. I call talked the person that registered him she said oh it shows he dropped out call the dean well I call mail box is full so I call back she sends the dean a email to call me and my son back nothing. I call the next day the person that register him in the begging she tells me she is not allowed to talk to me and that she doest want to be in the middle of it. she said that my son needed to fill out a ferpa form we had already filled that out we fill another form called the dead its been a week and no one has reached out on helping my son go back to collage and getting him the help he needs. At the begging everyone is nice but when you really need no one is there to help. I don't think it's fair we have to pay a loan for which he wasn't given the opportunity to finish the program he was interested in. read more

Listen to the reviews and do not attend this sorry excuse for a college. None of the staff know their own policies nor do they care about the students there. They do not communicate with you at all, when you email them or call them they either don't respond or if they do respond it's a bullsh*t response to string you along. "we'll call you back, we'll email you back" and they never do! You'll spend weeks trying to resolve one issue. They will finesse you for every last penny, some how some way no matter what you do, they will fail you. They will find some bullsh*t reason to drop you and have you pay them another thousand dollars to retake one class, a couple days prior to your final. God forbid you go here during hurricane season as they'll mark the day you missed from a local disaster as an unexcused absence. Please go anywhere else. read more

I would give zero stars but it requires me to pick a minimum of 1. I attended HCI, formerly, Health Career Institute, in West Palm Beach, Florida, because they offered an LPN to RN bridge program that I could complete in one year for the working adult with a family.  I was promised flexibility, support and accommodations.  When asked about nursing accreditation I was told yes they are accredited.  This was and still is a lie. The program I was "sold on" is not the program I signed up for. For the second semester in a row of Nurse 2 I have passed the course with over an 85% (80% is required), passed Dosage Calculations with a 96% (90% is required) and gotten a Level 3 (highest level) (Level 2 is required) on the ATI Proctored exams.  By ATI definition a Level 3 indicates a student demonstrates advanced proficiency in knowledge and skills related to the assessed concepts and exemplars.  Students in the level 3 category are well prepared for successful performance.  HCI on the other hand has made up their own rule that on top of the Level 2 that each category (16 in all) have to have a 50% or higher.  I unfortunately missed 1 category each assessment. According to HCI a student who achieves a Level 2 with 50% in each category is more proficient than someone who achieves a Level 3 but misses a category. 60% overall is the lowest level 2 score and by ATI definition a Level 2 indicates that a student demonstrates proficiency in the knowledge and skills related to the assessed concepts and exemplars required to deliver safe, effective nursing care at the entry-level for the profession.  Students in this category are prepared for successful performance in subsequent curricular material. I do not have a chance of advancing, therefore, I can no longer continue my education at HCI in nursing.  What this means for me is I have been paying $469 per month since June 2020 and now have $30,000 in student loans I have to pay back with absolutely nothing to show for it.  I traveled over an hour one way for classes and clinicals I had to repeat totaling 270 hours just for Nursing 2. Our credits are useless, non transferrable to other institutions. According to the Board of Nursing 50% of clinical hours have to be on site. Fifty percent clinical training for a practical nursing education program, an associate degree professional nursing education program, or a professional diploma nursing education program. Each curriculum plan must document clinical training experience in appropriate settings that include, but are not limited to: acute care, long-term care and community settings. The program must also have obtained signed agreements with each agency, facility and organization included in the curriculum plan as clinical training sites and community-based clinical experience sites. We are in the classroom because the hospitals no longer want HCI there which is a violation.  The school does not support or help students.  There is high turnover or change of positions/titles.  They make curriculum harder, make up rules or change rules as they see fit then blaming us students if we are not successful.  I am filing a complaint with the BBB, the credential agency and Harvard predatory lending.  It is shameful what this school is doing to people's lives with these bogus practices.  No one can provide evidence-based information on their testing policies and if they looked at the risk vs benefit for people's lives there is no way this would be best practice.  I feel humiliated and duped. read more

HCI has an excellent EMT course, with great instructors. They teach you everything you need to know , and really push you to do your absolute best. The instructors are very friendly and will help you with anything you don't understand. There are also very many opportunities to study at school on non school days to show up and study with your peers , and an instructor. I would definitely recommend this school for anyone interested in the EMT profession. read more
