Stylist: Jana was sweet, I really enjoyed talking with her. She was friendly and accommodating, especially about my physical disabilities, from start to finish. We met on social media. I had been putting off getting my hair cut and/or colored again for so long, due to how much pain I have been in, especially since I was struck from behind coming home on an out-of-state trip. Jana was compassionate and took the time to explain that while she could not do mobile hair dressing, she would be glad to let me get up frequently or do whatever would make me comfortable. Price: on the normal side. It was explained that more color would be required for the first time, due to how much my gray roots had grown out since Valentine's Day (five months regrowth on longish hair), and that subsequent touchups would be less expensive. The salon was closed by the time she rung me up because she spent so much care and time with me. Jana took photos afterwards and I paid what I perceived to be a very fair and comparable price. Note: credit cards or cash accepted, no checks. I had responded to a promotion advertised for a deep conditioning treatment, which I also found helpful. Consultation: lengthy, which was great! Cut: It looks better than it did when I went in. Maybe shorter than I planned. I wanted damage cut off, but probably should have specified that I did not want so much length lost. I had been waffling back and forth about growing it longer versus not wanting it to look droopy and dragged down, and was happy to trust Jana's longtime cosmetology experience history. Methodology: Jana spends lots of time and knows what she is doing! Go for it. The shade of red she mixed is great! The cut I'm satisfied with overall; probably the only thing I would change is I usually request that stylists do not use thinning shears on my already-thinning, middle-aged, curly hair. I have family members who are longtime stylists and barbers. By the time I realized Jana was doing this (my glasses were off and I was turned away from the mirror), and asked about it, it was too late, so I let her finish and just went with it, and was happy with the overall result. Jana also noted that the length/cut was uneven from the last stylist. Salon: clean, bright, happy vibe; nice music, pleasant customers (mostly middle-aged women like myself), and all stylists I spoke to were friendly. read more

Avoid avoid avoid. I asked for Subtle dimension to breathe life into my dull, dark brown hair and what I got was Loud, uneven zebra stripes in heavy contrast. It looked just as bad pulled up because Lisa N. evidently cannot do foils yet refers to herself as a "master colorist" and an "expert" with balayage. I thought she'd be excellent because she's from NY but now I have an idea of why she's here. So many others have gotten in touch with me to explain their similar experience and I just feel bad for them all. She has to be paying for good reviews or Something because there's no way... She was incredibly offended when I told her I didn't like my hair and offered a refund and to fix it. Well I didn't want her touching my head Again after screwing up so badly the first time. I went for the refund and was told I wasn't getting one. At that point I was annoyed. Her cousin, the owner, is just as rude and obnoxious as Lisa. I had to raise my voice and argue to get my money back and on my way out Lisa's husband called me a b*tch. At first I was pretty aggravated but then I realized he was looking in my direction but past me and had this weird creepy smile on his face so I'm assuming he's partially blind and or has mental issues but still they're all very unprofessional. I spent days avoiding the mirror and trying not to leave my house (when I did my anxiety was at an all time high) before finally getting it fixed but that's when I discovered Lisa Also cut a super short chunk of my hair in the back. That must have happened while she was looking over her shoulder chatting it up with someone else because I barely even had her attention the entire time there. This was a nightmare. I called after seeing great reviews between two different facebook groups in two different counties. I was able to get in the next day and Jana was my Beautician. After listening to what I wanted done and she giving a few suggestions we had a plan. I had my hair colored, cut and blow dried. It turned out absolutely beautiful! I love the color, it is the closest to my natural color as possible and the cut is gorgeous. I will no longer be doing the box color, as it has ruined my hair something really awful! The prices were really good, I honestly couldn't believe the price when I was done. Like every other salon in Spring Hill, "Head Smart" has so little interest in their customers, they hardly answer their phones. So, good luck making an appointment. But if you do, prepare to wait a minimum of 40 minutes while friends of the stylists come in and get serviced right away. To make things worse, there's only one stylist in the joint who's even semi-decent at what she does-- and that's ONLY if she's not being stopped to talk. Save yourself the trouble. Great place for a budget friendly haircut! Ask for Ginger, she rocks! If you tend to frequent the cheaper stores hoping for a miraculous cut and are disappointed, this place is a diamond find! Friendly, and talented stylists will go with whatever your pleasure is but help you out if you need some advice on what would work well. I've also seen people leave with some bright purple hair too(it was her choice, there were no tears), so if you're more adventurous, they do that too! If you're looking for a fancy pamper you salon, this may not be your cup of tea, it's not a Fru fru place, but you will leave looking gorgeous! Went to Head smart several times. Robert cut my hair and highlighted at times. He was excellent. He was usually the only one who was busy there. Suddenly he left, was told for family issue. Let the owner cut my hair. She did an ok job. Next time needed Highlights as well. AWFUL outcome. First she had me sitting under dryer for 1 hr +. Came over several times and said not ready yet. Meanwhile she was squeezing in people who showed up without appointment and making everyone wait. 1 customer when I was there had an appointment and waited 1/2 hr. When she asked when she would be done was told another 20 min so she left. The owner then was talking across the room to the other hair stylist saying " she is always a pain like this. Don't worry she'll be back" (on other visits had heard her dissing customers as well) Meanwhile still under hairdryer. It wasn't until she saw me holding up the dryer because my scalp felt like it was getting burned that she finally took me out of the dryer. She instructed the woman who washed my hair to make sure she used a real good conditioner. My hair was almost white, making it look like I was going gray. (had asked for the same color that I had previously in my hair which was more of a "dirty blonde" color. When I told her it was too blonde. Her response was, "most women would die for this color" She then put a cap on and pulled the hair through and toned it down. Color was much better but still lighter than I wanted. My hair looked ok when I left but after the first shampoo after this I realized why she instructed the shampoo woman to use real good conditioner. My hair was fried and now real frizzy (like I had split ends real bad- my hair was never like that before) All I can say is thank God this will grow out eventually! Will never go back! Wish they would let me hook up with Robert again! Don't think she would have many customers if he hadn't brought them in. read more
