We still have him to this day We had such a great experience and felt confident that we would get the same by going back to them when we decided to purchase another horse. We went back and as we were making the deal the horse acted funny and we were promised that if he didn't work out we could bring him back. He was just having a "horsey moment" Due to our previous experience and being told "You can always bring him back if he does not work out" we went ahead with the purchase. We had issues with the horse and attempted to work with him and these issues never resolved, so we contacted Laura and were told we would have to pay boarding fees while they tried to sell him and we waited for them to find another horse that would work out. We then decided that we would keep him at our place and take him back once they found us another horse to trade him out for. After several months had passed and no contact from them unless we called or texted. and then it was we are still looking. we decided to sell the horse. When a prospective buyer had the horse checked out by a vet we were told that the horse had Navicular Pathology and has had it for at least a year. We sent Laura an e-mail offering a chance to make this right and still have not heard anything back. we will no longer recommend them as we used to. we used to think very highly of them not any more!!

The covered arena is one of the largest I have seen, is lighted, and open late. Raven Ranch is right off the Pantano wash and offers amazing trail riding right from the property. The few trainers that work from Raven Ranch are very friendly and all treat the horses they train very well. Cows are even often on property to use in training with one of the trainers! The owners are very pleasant and are very active in ranch duties. While one mucks stalls, the other helps with maintenance of the property. Owners and trainers are immediately alerted of even the smallest issues with their horses so immediate action can be taken, if needed. They feed the highest quality hay at the weight recommended by the owner and even offer lunch, supplement, and medication feeding for a little extra per month. I would highly recommend Raven Ranch to anyone looking to board, learn dressage, cow work, or anything in between. Great place to be, great vibes, positive energy.

This place continues to go down hill. The current owners have owned the ranch for four years. They…read moredon't live on property, and don't even live in Tucson. They have not been hands on ever. Instead they hired a tyrant manager who threatens boarders when they question anything happening on property, including light feedings, which occurs frequently. When asked about repairs we are ignored, to the point of horses being injured and having to be put down. After putting the ranch up for sale for an insane price, as we all know it wasn't worth even close to what they were asking, they decide to make the poor decision to lease the ranch to a 26 year old with a record. Including misuse of livestock. Prior to this they stopped dragging footing, allowed weeds to grow all over the property and continue to not engage in any proper fly control. They were reached out to by numerous boarders and yet nothing happened or improved. The "new" manger at least fired all previous management, who had not done anything at the barn in years. She calls her self a trainer and doesn't even work with her own horse. Takes people's money to work their horses and then does nothing with them. She constantly lies about why she is constantly late to feeding at night and or not doing her job, EVER. Now that the ranch is under 50 horses, with one arena left with decent footing that still isn't being maintained properly, the owners have determined they are now going to "manage" the ranch and have hired new employees, yet have been duped into bringing back the previous manager as an hourly employee. The only reason most of us stay is for the best trainer onsite, Casi, and the owners continue to refuse to realize that listening to her and her boarders would actually help them make the ranch much improved. It's unbelievable that boarders have continued to stick it out in the horrible conditions and the lack of use of half the property. All the owners want is to make money and they some how thought this ranch would make it for them through a "flip". They don't care about the welfare of the horses and they don't really even know what they are doing because they are not horse people themselves. Not sure what will finally make them wake up and realize they continue to make one bad decision after another. This is a customer service business and their customer service is just as dilapidated as what they have turned the barn into.

Facility: It has a large arena, medium arena, turnout, 2 round pens, jump course, trail course, dressage arena and small trail area with a 20 min ride to the CDO wash. They have many stalling option available from outdoor paddocks, mare motel, indoor/outdoor and a training barn. All boarding is reasonably priced. Boarders: All age people and horses from 6 yr olds (I believe in when the school allows them to start) to the 70-80 yr old women/men that have companion horses. Horses range from the young 2 year olds to the 30 year old retired horses. It is a very friendly atmosphere. Services/Training: The services offered are wonderful. Turnouts, lunging, training, lessons(show lessons, beginner, intermediate, advanced, Therapeutic riding (Rolling Hills Riding Academy) and plenty of school/lease horse). The owners have show all over the country in AQHA,APHA, Palomino, etc. from open shows to world shows and have a room full of pictures and awards to back it up. They have experience in the gaited breeds as well as arabs and the classic quarter horses. They offer training from tune ups and "problem horses" to full time training and show training. The owner has always made it a point to perform the service the customer is paying for. If it ends up pouring or other emergencies come up, they refund you or reschedule for the next day. Medical/Barn Management: The owners have a wide range of medical experience and that is one reason I have never considered moving barns. They walk through the barns and makes sure that the 70+ horses all look healthy. If they see a horse cast, colicing, scrapped up etc., they know how to medicate them. If it is serious enough, they have multiple experienced vets on call at all times. If they think a horse is slightly underweight, they confront the owner and discuss options to up their feed. They truly care about the horses and customers at their barn and lend advice whenever asked. They have never steered me wrong and I would trust them with my life. All-in-all this barn is ideal for all types/age riders and horses. With the expertise and experience on hand, the barn owners are able to manage and extremely friendly, healthy atmosphere and look out for their customers and horses. I would highly suggest this barn to anyone in Tucson

At first, I was very hesitant to pursue "therapeutic" riding, expecting that I would have to endure constant reminders and corrections based on my disability. My expectations were absolutely unfounded. The staff is so expert at working with people with a range of disabilities that they don't need to harp on what we can't do. They focus exclusively on what we can do and push us to think like riders, not disabled riders. I'm just taking riding classes! Staff: The quality of the entire TROT staff is exceptional. Although everyone has a role, they all fill multiple roles and truly work as a team. Every individual's credentials are top-notch, with advanced degrees in fields such as education and social work, plus decades of riding and horse care, and without exception, passion for horses and for their clients. These are some of the most dedicated, caring, professional, skilled, and genuinely good people I've ever met. Instructors (also part of staff, but special note): My instructor is Dora, a natural horsewoman who takes nothing for granted. She trains regularly while teaching others. Dora notices the details and is ever-vigilant in keeping us safe while we are having the time of our lives. She makes classes enjoyable while making us work to become better riders. She treats everyone with the greatest respect, and is never too busy to answer questions, help a particular rider, or provide extra information. Dora exhibits extraordinary control, patience and passion, and makes lessons fun. I love learning from her! I have heard similar kudos about other instructors, and I don't doubt a word. Horses: The horses are screened and chosen carefully, and trained with an eye toward both the safety of the rider and happiness and comfort of the horse. Horses are hand-selected to match each rider, ensuring safety and comfort. They are all so gentle and beautiful, with a range of personalities and styles. Finding the right match is not difficult, and it's very easy to bond with them. They are clearly healthy, happy, well-cared-for horses who love what they do. I've also learned the extent to which the staff ensures that the horses are well taken care of, from their very specific, nutrient-laden diets to the grooming, quiet time, and horse-to-horse bonding. It's a wonderful life for a horse, and they are very much loved animals. Volunteers: People volunteer at TROT because they love the environment, horses, and incredible staff. The volunteers are there because they want to be, and it really shows. They are always there to help, protect the riders, and support the instructors. I don't know what we'd do without them! Environment: The ranch is accessible, beautiful, well-kept, and peaceful. It is ideally suited to the mission and activities of TROT, and encourages a back-to-nature feeling. I wish I could live there. Activities: It seems like there's always something happening at TROT! Before the pandemic, it was always bustling with classes and events. They don't just support the need to ride ... they fulfill a range of needs of their clientele. Plus, they offer special events just for fun and getting to know other riders and volunteers. A warm, fun, supportive environment! COVID: I've been really impressed with how well TROT has responded to the pandemic. They know that they're working with many people who are in vulnerable populations, and they've really taken that into consideration. From delaying classes to revamping the ranch and putting up sanitizing stations, to making their annual gala online and introducing new protocols for staff and volunteers, they are taking every measure to ensure everyone's health. This really speaks to how much they really do care about people. I've never written such a long review, but I've never had so many wonderful things to say! If you have a physical or emotional disability and are considering riding, don't hesitate to go to TROT - it will make your life so much better!
