Amazing overall. The ranch itself is pristine; the arenas and round pens are dragged regularly, the cross country track is maintained beautifully, and the stalls are picked once to twice daily. The covered arena is one of the largest I have seen, is lighted, and open late. Raven Ranch is right off the Pantano wash and offers amazing trail riding right from the property. The few trainers that work from Raven Ranch are very friendly and all treat the horses they train very well. Cows are even often on property to use in training with one of the trainers! The owners are very pleasant and are very active in ranch duties. While one mucks stalls, the other helps with maintenance of the property. Owners and trainers are immediately alerted of even the smallest issues with their horses so immediate action can be taken, if needed. They feed the highest quality hay at the weight recommended by the owner and even offer lunch, supplement, and medication feeding for a little extra per month. I would highly recommend Raven Ranch to anyone looking to board, learn dressage, cow work, or anything in between. Great place to be, great vibes, positive energy. read more

This place continues to go down hill. The current owners have owned the ranch for four years. They don't live on property, and don't even live in Tucson. They have not been hands on ever. Instead they hired a tyrant manager who threatens boarders when they question anything happening on property, including light feedings, which occurs frequently. When asked about repairs we are ignored, to the point of horses being injured and having to be put down. After putting the ranch up for sale for an insane price, as we all know it wasn't worth even close to what they were asking, they decide to make the poor decision to lease the ranch to a 26 year old with a record. Including misuse of livestock. Prior to this they stopped dragging footing, allowed weeds to grow all over the property and continue to not engage in any proper fly control. They were reached out to by numerous boarders and yet nothing happened or improved. The "new" manger at least fired all previous management, who had not done anything at the barn in years. She calls her self a trainer and doesn't even work with her own horse. Takes people's money to work their horses and then does nothing with them. She constantly lies about why she is constantly late to feeding at night and or not doing her job, EVER. Now that the ranch is under 50 horses, with one arena left with decent footing that still isn't being maintained properly, the owners have determined they are now going to "manage" the ranch and have hired new employees, yet have been duped into bringing back the previous manager as an hourly employee. The only reason most of us stay is for the best trainer onsite, Casi, and the owners continue to refuse to realize that listening to her and her boarders would actually help them make the ranch much improved. It's unbelievable that boarders have continued to stick it out in the horrible conditions and the lack of use of half the property. All the owners want is to make money and they some how thought this ranch would make it for them through a "flip". They don't care about the welfare of the horses and they don't really even know what they are doing because they are not horse people themselves. Not sure what will finally make them wake up and realize they continue to make one bad decision after another. I cannot recommend Raven Ranch based on my experience boarding here. For over $500 per month, I expected better communication, and care for both horses and boarders. Communication from management has been extremely poor. Concerns often go unanswered, and there is little to no management presence on-site. Important issues affecting the barn and horses are not communicated to boarders in a timely manner. The facility itself has also declined. Stalls are falling apart, weeds are overgrown throughout the property, and stall cleaning and water maintenance have been inconsistent. My horse has had vet visits from being cut on the fences that were supposed to be fixed. Feedings have not always occurred on schedule, which is concerning when horses rely on routine. Arena access has become increasingly limited. One arena is the only available riding space, and it is frequently set up with jumps, making it difficult for riders of other disciplines to use comfortably. My biggest concern is the handling of pigeon fever outbreaks. Multiple cases have occurred, yet communication and management of the situation have been inadequate. Horse owners deserve prompt notification and clear protocols when contagious illnesses are present on the property. For the amount boarders are paying, I expected better facility upkeep, more reliable horse care, and significantly better communication. Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing, and I cannot justify the cost based on the level of service provided. read more

Raven Ranch is truly the most amazing facility I have experienced in Tucson. This place is the epitome of care, service, and community. The owners, Dave & Lydia are a godsend - They have created a tranquil and cohesive environment for both horse and human. The property and facilities are clean and well maintained. If something breaks they are prompt to fix it. If you have a special request or need assistance, they are always on site and more than happy to help. Everyone is treated equally with fairness and respect regardless of breed, skill level, or riding discipline. This is definitely a drama (and b.s.) free facility! The owners do not cut corners when it comes to supplying quality alfalfa and/or bermuda. Lydia feeds, cares for, and loves every horse as if they were her own. She is quick to recognize if something appears amiss with your horse and contacts you immediately. The individualized care provided is clearly reflected by the healthy and content horses that reside at Raven Ranch. You really need to experience Raven Ranch in person to get a true grasp of all that it has to offer; individual tack rooms, clean his/her bathrooms, oodles of wash racks, trail access, multiple round pens and arenas with lights for nighttime use, a large covered arena which is a rare commodity that cannot be overlooked during the peak summer sun (or rainy season), as well as a water misting system in the barns to help keep the horses cool. I am in love with this facility and its owners. I read a negative review on this place and I could not disagree more with the sentiments expressed in that review. My experience, and the experiences of others I've talked to in the area could not be more different. I moved to Tucson from the midwest recently and brought my three horses with me. The welcome I have received from the owners as well as the other boarders has blown me away. Every person I have encountered on the property has been so friendly, very different from other facilities I have boarded at. It's one of those barns where you can easily pass the time (sometimes too much time!) chatting with fellow boarders or the owners. Communication from the owners has been open, prompt, and friendly. The facility is impeccably clean and the grounds are beautiful. I appreciate the bathroom facilities on the property, so much nicer than any others I have experienced. The horses are well cared for and the owners paid special attention to mine after moving to the desert from the midwest to make sure they were settling in properly and adjusting to the heat. The stalls are cleaned regularly and I've been amazed at how clean they are even able to keep my gelding's stall. He's a complete pig in a stall, yet it's always clean and dry. There are several arenas to choose from, all are regularly groomed and watered. The round pens are numerous and there is always one or more of them open to exercise my horses. There are plenty of wash racks, which are kept clean and operate properly (a luxury I have not had at all my past boarding facilities). I could go on all day about how much I love Raven Ranch, but don't take my word for it. Come out and visit the property. Seeing is believing! read more

I would highly recommend this boarding facility due to its amazing amenities and caring staff. The offer a covered riding arena, as well as two more arenas that are groomed to perfection. The stalls, both barn and covered outdoor, are clean and roomy with automatic waterers. In addition to the facilities, the staff was very knowledgeable and seem genuinely happy help. It is apparent that all of the trainers, staff, and both owners love what they do at Raven Ranch. I will definitely be sharing this quality equine facility with everyone I know!
