I had my hair and makeup done by Shannon.
    Barbara L.

I had a beyond wonderful experience. Shannon was an absolute dear and treated me like royalty. She was able to see my vision and had absolutely no problem making some minor adjustments along the way. Will be back for sure!

I had such a great experience. Danielle was very attentive and was very clear on what she was doing throughout the whole process (I wanted to go blonder than I was and that, if you know, takes TIME). I have never had so many compliments on my hair. I have relatively thin hair and she made it look so beautiful and thick and full. Definitely going back

Before and after - Thanks Meighan!

I hate getting my hair cut. I have short, thin, damaged hair, and I feel like no hairdresser ever listens to what I tell them. That was all before I met the wonderful Meighan! I moved to Queen Village about a month ago (March 2018), and at that point it had been a while since my last cut. As I said, I hate it, so I usually put it off as long as I can. Weeks went by, and I noticed that when I was blow drying my hair, pieces of breakage were landing all over my clothes and floor. This was a sign that I couldn't wait any longer. I googled "salons near me" and this place came up. I poked through their website and saw that it was a hip, stylish place with decent prices (maybe a little pricey, but I'm from Boston, so they didn't seem bad in comparison). So, I called the place up on a Thursday morning and asked if there was any chance I could schedule a day-of appointment. The woman I spoke with was very nice and professional. And, best of all, she found me an appointment for 1pm that day, just was I was hoping for. The salon is about a 10 minute walk from where I live, and I found it very easily, which is always a plus. I took the elevator up to the third floor, where the doors opened to a super cute, trendy waiting area and a big open space of stations. I was greeted by a friendly hello and an offer for any coffee or water. My eyes then caught a table with snacks and candy, which I thought was a nice touch. I was a few minutes early, so I took a seat on the couch to wait for my hair stylist to take me back to her station. Now is when Meighan introduced herself. She had a relaxed and comforting vibe about her, which is a relieving first impression for someone like me who generally despises a visit to the the salon (it's literally the equivalent of the dentist for me). We chatted about what I wanted to do with my hair, and I gave her some stories about my hair history and the things that make me nervous about getting my hair cut. I was at a point where I was ready to chop the whole thing off because it felt so gross and broken, but we talked it through and she convinced me to do a "transition cut" so that I can let my hair do its thing and then do something edgy and different once it's in better health. I am so glad I listened to her -- She knew what she was talking about and she did an awesome job. I was afraid that a transition cut was a code word for "this is going to look awful for a few weeks, but it will grow out." That wasn't the case at all. I now have a super cute little bob that will be great for the coming seasons. A few extra perks: Rachel shampooed and conditioned my hair, and she also gave me an awesome scalp/neck massage. Even though it was short, it was so relaxing and just what I needed after a long week! I love when people know what they're doing when they wash your hair. You gotta use some elbow grease! Meighan also offered a conditioning treatment that worked wonders for my hair. My hair has never felt so soft! She also gave me tips on how to style my hair and what to use to protect it. I can use all the pointers I can get! Totally recommend checking out this salon's services. Meighan will definitely be my new hair stylist for the foreseeable future. Just to give you all an idea - I lived in Boston for 5 years and did not see the same hair stylist twice. This is a huge deal! I am so lucky to have happened upon this great salon and even better stylist!

Before and after of my brow transformation!
    Christina M.

What can I say other than Delia is a brow magician. She has single handedly changed my life! After YEARS of plucking & waxing when thin brows were a thing, all hair growth had come to a halt. I spent years drawing and shading in a brow. I was totally self conscious of my brow line and would never leave my house without drawing them on. I RARELY let my boyfriend see them just natural. It was completely exhausting and every morning I dreaded drawing a brow. I would spend almost 20 minutes on my brow alone standing in front of the mirror critiquing every time I touched them with a pencil. I would also worry that I would use up my pencil and would not have enough to draw my brow. Every day it was an internal battle. Going in to a pool or the ocean would literally make me sick because I knew the brow I just drew on would wash away. It sounds silly but this was my life. Until one day my friend Meighan who owns Headhouse, knowing how much torture it put me through, told me that Delia was becoming certified in Microblading and that I would totally benefit from it. I was instantly on board!! She didn't have to say another word. My 1st session was in March and Delia meets with you and ask you a few questions about how you currently draw on your brow, what you would like your brow to look like and then she works her magic! She walks you through each step in the process so that you are comfortable. After the 1st session, it was a total transformation!! I had brows!! I received so many compliments and I just felt good about myself. I no longer was self conscious or had brow envy. The 2nd session is scheduled about 6 weeks after and Delia does any touch ups that are needed, makes sure you are happy with the color and the brow itself and that's it! This whole process has totally changed my life. Every morning I wake up and I have brows! I can't thank Delia enough!

    See! Perfect look by Morgan

Sooo...this is my very first yelp review ever. Please forgive me if my yelp etiquette is sub par. But I have never been inspired to write a review as much as I have tonight, after Morgan has given me the most amazing new look. About two weeks ago I came to headhouse salon because it's in my neighborhood and has a great rep. My hair was long and boring and I needed a change. Morgan cut my hair to a medium long shoulder length with an edgy cut and layers that she styled to perfection. Unfortunately, my skills with styling could not replicate her look and I was a little bummed. I called back to see if she had any tips or suggestions and was welcomed back without question. She did some touches that made the cut perfect for my lack of styling skills. Minimal work needed for an awesome look. She wanted to make sure it was exactly what I wanted and I appreciated that so much. I came back tonight for highlights and she created an even more amazing look than I ever could have ever thought up in my head. The highlights are blended to perfection. The color is perfect and compliments my natural brown. I can't wait to continue working with her from here on out. Btw, did I mention she is super cool and extremely personable and friendly? Yup, that too. Thank you Morgan!

The picture I showed both the colorist in Miami and headhouse.

First off, the place feels big. Has nice calming music playing in the background so it's a pleasant experience visiting and even sitting in the chair for some time. The wash was about the same length of time as a wash from other places here in Chinatown, but somehow it was significantly more enjoyable. The people here know what they're doing, and my scalp feels much better than it did before, and I didn't even know if was feeling anything before. Cut was ~30 minutes, and $28 + tip. Overall, it's on the pricier end of what I've experienced so far in Chinatown, although not by much. However, the quality of the cut was much better than others. In other places, it feels a bit more rushed or cursory, but I felt like I was getting focused attention on my cut. He spent a lot of it actually in touch up and layering, which was good attention to detail. Honestly one of the best cuts I've gotten in Chinatown. Definitely beats out in quality over other mainstays like Kevin's, but at a slightly higher price point.

I went to this hair salon in university city for a trim, and I felt that the stylist was knowledgeable about curly/wavy coarse hair. I was a little worried about going to a salon in China town because often the hair type that they see often is smoother / softer which I don't have. But my hair is looking a lot healthier, and they didn't take off too much of my length! The only issue I had was that it took a little longer than I would have liked and I was being switched between two people repeatedly. I've experienced having a different person the was my hair, another to cut my hair, and another to style my hair but I had 2 different people style my hair, probably because it started to get crowded. I wish the entire visit was only an hour but it was closer to 2.5 hours, and other people in the salon were beginning to complain about the wait. My friend also got his hair cut and said he liked the cut, but he was done in about 45 minutes, where usually his cuts take about 30 minutes, then he had to wait for me to be done as well. I will definitely be going back here but I'll be sure to go on a day that I know I have more time. My hair feels super healthy and nicely cut.

She smiled and agreed, and started cutting. In no time at all, she had cut the hair on one side of my head above my ear, which was the opposite of what I asked for, as I have a deformed right ear from decades of combat sports competition, and I wanted it concealed. As she had already ruined my hair on one side, I bit my tongue as she made the other side match it. I was absolutely furious, but what can a stylist do once they've taken too much off? Absolutely nothing. Now I am stuck with a haircut where my deformed ear is visible for the whole world to see because the stylist decided to give me that haircut that she wanted to give me instead of the one that I asked for. I paid for my haircut with a card and departed in a polite manner, but the moment I hit the sidewalk, I could no nothing but scream profanity as the realization that I couldn't cover my deformed ear kicked in. Now I am not only out $18, but I am stuck with a haircut which leaves me open to yet more questions along the lines of "What's wrong with your ear?" [Edit, I called the place and she offered me a refund, but this doesn't undo the damage she did to my personal appearance. I'll take the refund, but this review stands.] I grew the sides of my hair longer specifically to hide that ear, and the stylist decided that she knew better than me where my haircut was concerned, and forced her personal preferences onto my head. That stylist is very fortunate that I have superior control over my temper, because she has left me feeling disfigured with the haircut she gave me, and now that I'm home and trying to style this mess, I see that she couldn't even manage to trim my bangs straight, and the hair on one side is not symmetrical with the hair on the other side. With the mess she left me with, with my deformed ear exposed, I might just shave my head instead of putting up with this terrible thing she did to my head. I am so humiliated that I don't even want to be seen in public looking like this. I went in feeling good about myself and looking forward to the haircut I asked for, and I left with my self-esteem in the gutter. I get upset every time I catch my refection and see what she did to my appearance. I can't go out looking like this. In short, she was absolutely incompetent & unprofessional in providing a haircut according to the very simple instructions I gave her. She shouldn't be permitted to cut hair, and if she has a state license for cutting hair, it should be revoked. The only reason she's getting one star is because I can't give her zero stars. Attached to this review, you'll see two photos detailing how she couldn't even manage to cut my hair evenly. I could have gotten a better cut from a landscaper with a weed-whacker. There is absolutely no excuse for this, and no apology or refund can do undo the damage. I'll have to wear a hat until my hair covers my deformed ear again. Thanks to a stylist who doesn't listen, I get to wear a hat to cover my deformed ear now. As a craftsman and a business owner, I can tell you that this is not how a professional renders a service to a client. **Update** I spoke with the stylist on the phone a short time ago about the refund she told me she would give me, and instead of telling me when I could come down & get it, she began making all manner of excuses as to why she shouldn't refund my money. This is the kind of experience you can expect to have with this hair stylist: first she will ruin your hair, then she will justify her poor work and back-peddle out of any refund she's already offered you. I should have looked at the other 1-Star reviews of this place, because it seems that those people all had a very similar experience to mine. As a small business owner myself, I'm very enthusiastic about supporting small businesses, but not if they're run by incompetent, unprofessional people who refuse to accept accountability for the damage they do, or offer fair compensation in return for those damages.

I came in on a Monday around lunch time and they weren't busy at all. Since it was our first time there, we didn't have a stylist in mind. They sat us down quickly and David was the one that helped my husband with his haircut. He is very knowledgeable about Asian hair types as he trained in Tokyo for 6 years. If you show him a photo, he will be sure to match the style you requested through the photo. He will constantly show you what the back looks like through a mirror to ensure that you're satisfied with the results. David is really a perfectionist and he even told me that he's always open to criticism, so if you're unhappy with something, just communicate with him and he will be sure to make it right. There might be a language barrier if you don't speak Chinese but I think a translation app would work just fine. My husband got a Korean style two block haircut and I have to admit it's one of the best haircuts that he has ever gotten! The longer layers in the back blended seamlessly with the shorter portion on the back of his head. My husband is traumatized from getting haircuts because oftentimes you pay a lot for a haircut that you don't even end up liking, but he's glad that he finally found a spot that he will be returning to. For wash and haircut, the price is $28, but they were running a promotion at the time so it ended up costing $23. Overall, I highly recommend this hair salon to those who are looking to get a quality haircut.
