When we reached out to the office, staff didn't even seem to know our workplace existed. What really sealed it for us was what happened after employees filed to remove the union. Suddenly, the union started "popping up" constantly! Frequent contact, increased presence, and involvement that had been totally missing before. At the same time, our proposed voting dates were repeatedly rejected, dragging out the process and delaying employees' ability to actually vote. The contrast was impossible to ignore: years of silence while collecting dues, followed by nonstop activity only once their status and revenue were at risk. A union's role is to represent workers consistently.. not only when it's convenient or self-preserving. Based on our experience, that standard was not met here. If you're considering this union, ask very direct questions upfront about representation, communication, and transparency -- and pay attention to what happens before there's a conflict, not after.

They offer weekly and monthly architecture / history walking tours in Downtown LA with few seasonal tours. [Weekly Saturday tours]: Historic Downtown, Broadway Historic Theatre and Commercial District, Art Deco, and Union Station. [Monthly Saturday tours]: Angelino Heights, Modern Skyline, and The Biltmore Hotel lobby. *** Historic Downtown Walking Tour - each Saturday at 9:45 AM *** [Parking]: Option #1 (shorter walk) is the Pershing Square underground garage (532 S. Olive Street, Los Angeles, 90013) - $9 all day on weekends. 2nd option (longer walk) is the Westlawn Garage at Central Library (524 S. Flower Street) - discount is offered to Los Angeles Public Library card holders (parking validation is available at the library's Information Desk on the first floor). I only paid $1 at the Westlawn Garage with parking validation ($1.00 flat rate - validation still apply even if visitors come before 9:30 AM). [Special notes]: Arrive at least ten minutes early to check in. Tour meets at the center of Pershing Square near the mini-groves of Orange trees. The tour was supposed to start at 9:45 AM, but everyone arrived at 9:30 AM so our tour had an early start. [Price]: $25 per adult. $18 per youth (17 years and under). [Duration]: Our tour started at 9:30 AM and ended at 12 PM. The starting point was Pershing Square and the ending point was behind The Bradbury Building. All tours are led by volunteers. [Experience]: The tour mainly focuses on discussing beaux-arts vs art deco buildings. Our group walked into 5 different buildings including PacMutual Building, Los Angeles Public Library, The CalEdison, Grand Central Market, and The Bradbury Building (aka known from the 1982 movie Blade Runner). There was a short restroom break at Los Angeles Public Library at 10:30 AM. Our group also rode Angels Flight Railway and fare was covered as a part of the tour. [Conclusion]: A solid tour and it was a great experience to learn some basic history of buildings in Downtown LA. I would definitely consider doing some of their other tours to learn more about LA.

I had never heard of this place before but it's truly an amazing place! The name is very fitting for the amazing work that is done here. Their store was filled with brand new items (many popular brands) fitting every style and size. They also include necessities such as backpacks, shoes, toilet paper, etc and the rule is YOU CAN TAKE AS MUCH AS YOU NEED! Usually there's a limit but not here, they provide you with trash bags and you can take as much as needed. They also have an area for groceries, toys, hot food, and so much more! It was truly amazing working here and seeing so many families being helped. There were so many volunteers and so much resources being passed out, I've never see anything like it. I recommend this place for anyone who is having a tough time, facing homelessness, job loss, etc to seek this place out. They also help with finding housing and schooling. Such a valuable place to the city of Los Angeles!

I had a bad feeling when I walked in and saw everyone really quiet and the overall vibe was kind of uncomfortable. I also had to ask for everything I needed ("do I need an apron? Ok, where are they? Do I need gloves? Ok where? Where can I put my stuff?" etc) and there were no clear instructions for me since there was already an assembly line with no room. That on top of a generally unfriendly vibe was not how I wanted to make impact and spend my time, so I left. Unfortunately I'll have to keep looking for other volunteer opportunities.

They never have enough staff to assist those in need. yet the times i've been there you can see many individuals talking among themselves at the front. All these non profits who are supposed to be helping aren't. Been in case management for 2+ years and its very disappointing. Money stays at the top with execs once it hits where it's needed there's never enough money. Why are execs being paying 100K+ to sit in their nice offices clocking in and out having expensive lunches. they are all the same. theres good profits in non profits specifically homeless. Homelessness will never end as those who own non profits keep the money. yes i said it been there: OWNERS OF NON PROFITS KEEP MOST OF THE MONEY. WHILE PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS KEEP COMING TO FEED AND DONATE GOODS NON PROFITS WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP MONEY. some non profits send their clients to the corners where they know items are being given for free. this way they'll save even more $$$$.
