I went to a Sound Healing class last night with my friends and was very excited to experience the salt cave as well as the sound bath. This was my first time visiting the Healing Grotto and I was excited based off the event description and the picture from the website. Unfortunately, we didn't get anything that was advertised! "Small groups with inviduals sitting in anti gravity chairs to completely relax" - There were NO chairs. We had to sit on the floor for over an hour and a half which is torture on my body!! They crammed maybe 25 of us into the tiny salt cave and some of us barely has room to half lay down. It was very, very clear they overbooked and just wanted to get more money rather than make this event special for their attendees. "During the session, Rick will move around the room and give each attendee a more personal experience" - Absolutely not. There was no room for anyone to do anything, let alone for him to get up and come to each of his. I do not blame Rick for this. "Each attendee will receive a complimentary 10 minute "Chakra on the Go" download" - Didn't happen! We asked the guy behind the counter about this and he had no clue what was advertised on their website. He tried to make us ask Rick about it but we made him ask, seeing as he was the one working there. We were told to message Rick for our download. The facility itself seems nice but I certainly wouldn't get a massage there. The rooms led right into the lobby and I can't imagine how loud it gets. Speaking of loud, distracting noises, during the sound healing there were motors running the whole time, switching on and off. Very distracting on top of my pain from sitting on the floor. All in all, I did not enjoy my experience, I feel I completely wasted $50 and I feel I was ripped off. To be promised a relaxing, intimate of healing and just get a painful, session of 'how long can you sit still", is no fun and I don't feel any better, happier or healed for having visited this place. Oh and that guy either had no clue what he was doing trying to ring my friend up or he deliberately wasted an extra 10 minutes of our time. Which brings up another point, the healing was an 80 min session. About 30 of those minutes were spent chit chatting and an unnecessary Q&A afterwards that seriously broke any sort of connection I had received from the music. An awful night made only better by virtue of the fact that I was with my friends and Rick's music was nice, I'll admit. Certainly never coming back to this location though. read more

They didn't care they lied. Someone had contacted 1 of my friends, out of the 3 of us, to see if they could offer us something like another session or discount (hell no). Never received a refund. Still annoyed bc they literally LIED on the website about what the class included. Happened to come by my review again so figured I'd update. -Small groups, nope 20 ppl crammed into a small room -Anti gravity chairs, nope, NO chairs and no room to even lay down -Relaxing, nope, back pain from sitting on the floor over an hour & loud vacuum noise no one addressed that lasted 30-40 MINS. -he will move around to each person, nope bc he couldnt move we were crammed in there. read more

It was very easy to make reservations here. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. The website also had lots of helpful information for first-time visitors. One drawback is that they give you a burlap sack for your shoes, and the material of the sack shed like crazy. I was picking pieces of burlap off my clothes for the rest of the day. The lobby area was cute, although perhaps a little cluttered. But the salt cave was well-maintained and comfortable. Afterwards I felt my sinuses were cleared in a way they have never been. I was disappointed. We were waiting for other people that were booked and they never showed up so it started late... I think the policy should tgat you must arrive 10 minutes prior for the session. The salt on the floor of the cave was so course it was painful. Then there was a young child at the entranceway of the cave that was very loud and playing with the salt, so it didn't start out in a relaxing mindframe. Honestly I didn't see the benefit. If I were sitting anywhere in a Reclining chair I would have felt the same relaxation. I actually licked my skin and didn't taste any salt whatsoever. read more

my daughter and I visited here a few weeks ago. Looking to have a few people there for a birthday, so we decided to check it out first. Boy were we disappointed! the place is super small, though that did not bother us. What did bother us was the the massage felt like someone was putting lotion on us at the beach. No pressure at all, or anything typical of a message. To make it more unenjoyable, because the place is so small all we could hear were people laughing and talking loud at the reception area since it is only a few steps away. Totally ruined the experience. Needless to say, we won't be booking our group there, nor would I refer anyone. Massage Envy is a much better bet! read more

Front desk not friendly, not informative, actually spoke very badly about another Salt Cave Loud front desk - all 3 times could not relax because of the noise The music went in and out and blamed it on their Sono's system I will totally take the ride out to Huntington or better yet Port Jefferson any day before I ever go back here read more

I attended last Friday's Sound Healing and Meditation in the salt cave. I'd never been in a salt cave before and it is a cool room with one wall partially composed of Himalayan rock salt as well as rock salt covering the floor. The rest of the cave (room) is covered in some kind of material substituting for rock face. There's a machine that scatters little pinpricks of blue light across the ceiling and it is relaxing. However, the charge was $50 for the session / event which was way too expensive. There were 10 attendees and the musician / healer, and for that price, I expected a gravity chair for every attendee who wanted one rather than the fold up chair with which I was provided. In addition, the session was only about an hour. The musician / healer spoke a bit at the beginning and then again at the end but there was nothing enlightening about any of that. Had the layout been more accommodating and the session a full hour and a half, I might have felt better about the cost. $25 is about what should be charged for that event. Again, the room is nice but the establishment overcharges. read more

I just wanted to say I had a wonderful experience at the Healing Grotto. I had the 90 minute massage and 45 minute salt cave experience. For 160 bucks it was worth every penny. I have been coming to the Healing Grotto for over 3 months! I attend weekly. My life has changed ever since attending! The staff and owners are amazing! The first time I attended "the salt cave" the owners fully described the experience, the benefits and the infrastructure of how the cave was built. Which in its self is absolutely incredible. There is 6000 lbs of salt on the floor and 7000 lbs on the walls. While you are in the cave listening to meditation music laying on comfortable lounge chairs with blankets they provide- salt ions are dispersed through the vents. My breathing has never been so great! I can actually feel my lungs when I leave. It's amazing for asthma, copd, inflammations, ear infections, and over all relaxing. They provide water, blankets and shoe bags. Lemon grass diffusers are constantly blowing; you feel relaxed just walking in! I have also experienced the hypnotic meditation experience in the salt cave with renowned psychic Glenn Dove! He guides you through the most amazing journey! I can't even explain this experience! Through guided imagery I was able to leave behind toxic old baggage and successfully journey to the future. I was able to morn peacefully over someone that I have lost. My grandmother came through! It was incredible! I was fully asleep yet could here his voice. The grotto also hosts private events! If I could live there I would! Steve and Ed are the best! The place is very nice & clean. However once you go in the Salt room the machines are too loud & distracting. In my opinion this is just another new fad & wont be around to long. Salt Caves in general are amazing. You relax in a zero gravity chair and breath in amazing healing salt air. The energy in the room is amazing and the benefits of salt caves are fabulous. However I did experience an amazing guided meditation in the salt cave. However I was half asleep and at the end they open the door and kick you out abruptly. A smoother transition for a wake up and leaving the room would be better. I feel like the owners care more about making money then providing a healing center. However I highly recommend Glen Dove he is an amazing medium. He is the real deal you can make a private appointment with him here. I think he is booked like 2 months in advance. He also hosts guided meditations in the salt cave and those are very nice. read more

Upon showing up i didn't really know what i was in for. But i watched this place on the news and it looked like a great place to relax and to possibly help me breathe better. With a brief explanation of the room and what breathing in these salts was good for i picked a seat in the infinity chairs they have lined up and started to instantly relax in the dimly light room with calming music. After spending 45 minutes in the salt cave it was time to go and i noticed a improvement in breathing as well as a energy boost that i didn't notice i was missing until my session ended. Great clean place and worth the visit, next time i will book a massage there as well read more

What a great place to go and relax after a long day at work. Went with a friend at 8pm and was falling asleep in the salt cave, was so therapeutic and deeply relaxing. I did find that my breathing/lungs were clearer upon leaving the cave after just 45 minutes. Will absolutely be going back! read more

I don't really know how to rate this place, so let me describe my experience. I was in the cave w/ 2 women I didn't know,but they were friends. None of us had done this before. We were offered no information from the staff & when we asked a couple of questions, were told everything would be answered by the brief video that starts the experience [it's the one on their website]. The only advice we received was to sit toward the middle of the room, so we all did so. It really is a lovely room & professionally & thoughtfully set up. There is an effort to create a soothing atmosphere w/ new age-y music, very low lighting & green pinpoints of light that move slowly across the ceiling. Unfortunately, the lighting units were right in my line of sight, so that was annoying. It didn't help that all 3 of us had trouble w/ our "anti-gravity" chairs, which responded very strongly to gravity: all 3 popped out of place & slowly moved into a completely upright position ... repeatedly. At first, I had to get used to the salt air & sneezed & coughed a bit, but ultimately it was fine. And I do feel much better, but not any better, I think, than if I had spent 20 minutes breathing in a saline steamer or the day at the beach, We all agreed that we had trouble relaxing (rushed, obnoxious chairs, etc.) & feel as if we lost something from the experience because of it. When our 45-minute session was over, the door was opened slowly, but nevertheless allowed the blaring light of day to rush into the darkened room. This could very easily be solved with a curtained area outside the door. The staff was nice enough, but very easily distracted. As long as you had their attention, they were fine, but any shiny object that passed by immediately took them away. So, even though I still had a question when my experience was over, I couldn't get an answer because the phone had rung. No one looked at me after that. And I was a little disappointed that we weren't offered water afterward, which probably sounds like a weird thing to say. But, we had just sat for 45 minutes in a very salty room & I felt liked a salted tomato, all the fluids drained out of me! A bottle of water as part of the $45 for 45 minutes would have been a nice touch. read more

The massage therapist, Justina, was wonderful- no complaints there. However, the rest of the experience felt extremely rushed. The owner or manager seemed very impatient with his staff and with the clientele. As we were leaving, he instructed a receptionist to ensure a new influx of guests had paid and so she literally yelled out that whoever hadn't paid should come up the desk. I think the concept is awesome and the three therapists we had were wonderful, but it definitely did not give off the relaxing day spa vibe you see in other salt caves. read more

My sister brought me to the Healing Grotto as a belated Mother's Day gift. We did a 45 minute session in the salt cave. It was very peaceful and relaxing. The front desk was very welcoming and informed us of the other services that were offered at the Healing Grotto and about their packages that they have. I attended the Guided Meditation with Past Life Regression with Glenn Dove last evening. I brought a friend, my son and daughter in law for some relaxation and hopes to "see" something in the past. Although the beginning of the session was relaxing, a person attending began snoring so loudly within the first five minutes, it interrupted our ability to concentrate on the guide and his words. I was hoping Mr. Dove would tap the guy to get him to stop, but he did not. The snorer went at it the entire session. I live with a snorer, so thought maybe it was my present life? Too bad, as I was really hoping for a different outcome. read more

I normally don't do these reviews, but if I save one person the $45, this will have been worth the time. The room wasn't that nice, the music was relaxing, but I could play relaxing music at home for free. The machine that blows salt into the room (not that you can tell that's happening) is a little loud and drowns out the music. For free you can turn down the lights in your house and put on some calming music. It's the same effect for less. Then go out a have a nice dinner for $45. read more

Was so excited to go to this place and was very disappointed. Made appt for myself and my husband to do a meditation night in the salt cave with Glen Dove. Walked in and it looked beautiful. We took off our shoes and entered the salt room barefoot. First the salt rock hurt your feet was not like ground down like sand more like rocks. So first steps painful. Ok got on the chairs waiting looking forward to starting. Glen talking loud setting up talking to one of the other customers he must of known ..loud...about the night before... annoying... loud. We are in the relaxing room ..quite time...don't care about work last night. Ok so we finally begin waiting for the salt mist or something. He starts talking we listen through this meditation travel where you see a light and a meadow ...you relax wake up it's nice ...ok that's fine but I would like to know the benefits of the salt cave. I felt the walls. The walls are not completely salt. Some parts are salt and other parts are plastic or some-type of material not salt at all. So ok time up . You get up and leave ...ouch ouch on feet put on shoes and leave. I even licked my arm I had not an ounce of salt on me. No taste, no smell, no benefits save your money. read more

Where do I begin, the healing grotto is a must do, my best friend and I look so forward to coming here ( we are regulars- no joke every week) it is by far the ultimate salt experience for so many reasons. This amazing salt cave allows you to have downtime, relax your achy muscles/joints and breath better- it's a mellow vibe with healing sensations. The tranquility you feel in there is mind blowing between the salt and the relaxing music and the comfy lounge chairs and cozy blankets provided by the owners. It's a great feeling surrounding yourself with tons of Himalayan salt and being healed simultaneously- it's a win win!!! Very relaxing environment. When we first went into the room, we were told exactly what the benefits were and the gentleman was very honest about how it works and what to expect. Not sure if I felt any benefits but it was a nice was to spend some time with my sister in a quiet and relaxing environment. When we were done, the two gentleman that were running the place that day were very friendly and told us a lot about the place. They mentioned that we could rent it out for a girls night for a very reasonable per person rate and they supplied the wine and cheese. Been a few times. I've used the private salt booth. I have chronic sinus issues. I've had surgeries for my sinus issues and I've taken every possible medication. I noticed when I'm on vacation at the shore that my sinuses always feel better and I wondered if it was from the salt water. I googled it and found a nasal spray on amazon called nasal spa. It's a salt based spray and It seems to be helping. Ironically at the same time this "salt cave" opens up a town away from me. I decided to check it out. I'm what you would call an introvert so the idea of the cave wasn't really appealing to me but the private booth was right up my ally. After the first visit I noticed significant results. Like the salt sinus spray on steroids. Basically the bottom line is I would recommend this place. I fee way less pressure on my sinuses after each visit and it just overall makes me feel more healthy. The staff was friendly and you know I don't know what the hell salt therapy is. It's an actual cave and the ground and walls are made of pink Himalayan salt. You sit on a zero gravity chair with the warm cozy lights and soft music. AMAZING!!! Complete waste of money. You basically sit in a cold room for 45 minutes full of those Himalayan salt lamps you can buy anywhere online. The girl who was there gave us a bag for our shoes and then opened the door to let us in and that was it. There was no instruction or explanation, nothing (the only thing I know about it still is the little bit I read online beforehand). The chairs weren't even comfortable and kept popping back up to an upright position. You bring all your stuff in with you, so people had their phone out and were texting, etc. Also you stay in whatever clothes you show up in. Good thing it was summer so we were wearing shorts and tank tops, otherwise I would have showed up in a sweatshirt and jeans if it was winter, which kind of defeats the purpose since isn't one of the benefits that's it's good for your skin? It wasn't relaxing and we didn't feel any different afterwards. read more
