She was exceptionally thoughtful, educative, and respectful, with a real ability to personalize care. She distinguished between structural differences and issues that actually needed intervention, rather than assuming everything required correction, and adjusted the plan to fit my capacity. She explained the reasoning behind exercises clearly, welcomed detailed questions, and stayed present even when things weren't straightforward for me. When something was harder to visually assess, she was honest about what she could and couldn't see and relied on my feedback rather than guessing or defaulting to assumptions. The result was a plan that felt collaborative, realistic, and genuinely engaging. I'm still doing the exercises daily weeks later on my own because they were so well-tailored and well-taught. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for individualized, thoughtful PT care grounded in real partnership. I also want to recognize the front office coordinator, Chris, for her consistent kindness and support. She was responsive, informative, and went out of her way to help me navigate logistics and options, which made the experience feel genuinely supportive from start to finish. Overall, Spero Rehab - South Austin was an inclusive, supportive and positive starting point in my rehab process after an unexpected knee injury, and I'm grateful for the care I received there.

K, I'm a bit biased: I, myself, was a PT at STAR for 10 years. But, I'm a patient right now: bicipital tendinitis developed as a result of shoulder impingement/rotator cuff arthropathy. I couldn't use my arm worth squat, constant pain, and intense pain with attempted use. What I had tried/done failed. Grew very discouraged/depressed: Husband asked me when I was going to DO something about it (& stop complaining, lol). Saw my doc: He offered an injection, but I said, "PT first please, and I want to go to STAR." (don't want injections to jeopardize the integrity of my tendons, and STAR PT "only"!). Yes, a PT may need another PT to lift one up, illuminate the path, and lead the way to success! Highlighting Anthony for his awesomeness! I specifically requested Anthony because he was the only one who didn't "know me." I know the other therapists, and they are all excellent. In this case personally, I wanted to be "led" unbiasedly: without any consideration/assumption that I "should know" this or that since the others "know" I'm a PT. Visits 1 & 2 proved to me why you see a PT before injections/surgery: immediate positive impact! I experienced a set-back after the visit 3 - of the exact same nature as to why I was unsuccessful when I tried to rehab myself. Anthony got me past this in ways that I'd never thought of! Week 3: still progressing, and Anthony increased focus on other components of my body to ensure long-term success (YES, core/pelvic/hip/leg exercises for my shoulder problem!). 8th visit/re-evaluation: 80+% better! Able to swim freestyle without problems over 4th of July holidays, pain is SO much less (I can handle intermittent dull aching), I no longer hesitate to use my arm (though it's still quite weak), and I'm now asking questions about working out! Anthony is so awesome: He listens, instructs, educates, set goals, and puts the plan into place. Though (as a PT) I think I could "take over" independently at this point, I'm continuing because I want to return to 100% and want him to keep leading me to ensure success. I started a version of push-ups (um, 7 visits ago, this thought was ludicrous)! Anthony reviewed other activities/gym exercises to try (or avoid), reminded me of needed rest/recovery periods and signs of when to back-off/stop. I don't know if I'll need to update this review when I am 100%, because I'm now feeling like nothing's going to stop me from reaching my goals! & Yes, should I experience any "hiccup" from this point forward, Anthony will bring me beyond it (full confidence), but this is why I'm still going to STAR PT! My story, done. Extra info for y'all: More about STAR PT... Pilates classes Women's & Men's Health On-site fabulous Massage Therapist who's also a PTA Certified Hand Specialist OT (top 3% of BEST EVER) Custom hand/arm splints Custom foot orthotics ("PRI" orthotics - SERIOUS improvement in my son's athletic performance and overall life - he won't go anywhere without them, including independently transferring them to his cleats & back) McKenzie, ART, FDM, Postural Restoration, and more Dry-needling Cold laser, Infrared, Ultrasound, E-stim, Traction, BioMat Ancient Minerals Magnesium (oh, the incredible benefits of Magnesium!) Clinical center training student interns from accredited colleges Host site for continuing education courses Yeah, so OK to kinda call this a "plug" for STAR - but this review was not requested, not compensated, and ONLY because I LOVE THE RESULTS, STAR PT, and Anthony! Owner Jon Hupp (PT) is absolutely BRILLIANT. He's judiciously grown his business from the ground up, has poured in his heart & soul to make this the best out-patient practice possible, ceaselessly makes improvements/expands his/the team's education to be at the cutting edge, has/ensures an awesome environment & the equipment that's needed, and leads a team who's dedicated to the ultimate mission of maximizing YOUR life and potential!

I was more than pleasantly surprised. There were locker rooms and many places to sit around the pool (which for anyone who has great difficulty walking outside a pool is a god-send!) Both therapists I have had, Hunter and Patti, are engaging, knowledgeable, patient, and responsive. (They are both also a hoot! :-) Hunter even lets me choose the music while I am there!) In just 2 months I have had significant improvement! It was fairly easy to get reserved pool time that works with my limited schedule and they are very easy to work with, both personally and insurance-wise. I have never used the land-based therapy but they seem to have an abundance of great equipment and therapists. I can't recommend them enough!

I attended aquatic therapy, and after five sessions I developed a foot fungus. Only positive experience was that a therapist was great. I contacted the facility multiple times and also brought this issue directly to the attention of the front desk. I never received a response, which made me feel that my concerns were not taken seriously. This facility came highly recommended, so I expected a much higher standard of cleanliness and care. The lack of cleanliness was noticeable from my very first visit, and despite raising concerns, nothing was addressed. I am extremely disappointed, especially since I would have liked to continue my therapy during what has already been a very difficult year.
