Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the women who did our treatments, but both were extremely friendly and did their best to make us feel at home and comfortable during our visit. The massage therapist was happy to customize everything about my massage to suit my taste. The dermasound facial was wonderful--she told me exactly what she was doing and offered specialized suggestions for my skin--without the judgement you sometimes feel. Before I left I purchased some jojoba lotion that Sue had made herself. They used it as a hydrating mask during my facial and I loved it. Overall, a great experience. This is a no-frills homey spa and the staff is very welcoming. Great prices too. I would definitely go back!

Staff (an older woman and a younger girl) enthusiastically celebrated the death of Lindsey Graham, a political figure in front of customers, chanting and dancing which made me feel very uncomfortable. I confronted them saying it's wrong to celibrate anybodys death and was screamed at they hated him and will celebrate Trumps death too. How completely inappropriate for a wellness business. When I expressed that they were unprofessional, the situation escalated. Instead of addressing my concern respectfully, the older staff member yelled at me and ordered me to leave. I expect a respectful, professional environment at a wellness business. I cannot recommend Zen Essential Wellness. I hope the owner watches the video and addresses situation accordingly.

Sadly, reception was empty when I arrived and having never been there, I had no idea what to do or where to go. I sat in a waiting area for about 15 minutes but no one appeared. I finally decided to look around for someone but had no luck. My appointment was for 9:30 in the salt cave and I was running out of time. I found it on my own and laid down on one of the beds, but I felt like an intruder and I was very uncomfortable. So, after a while I decided to leave. A quick pit stop to the restroom before heading home revealed what I had been missing: directions on how to use the salt cave. By then it was too late, I was very embarrassed, and I just wanted to leave. I'll post the salt cave directions here for the next confused first timer. UPDATE: to clarify, "DO IT YOURSELF" is great for people who already know what they're doing. For a first timer, a little instruction is necessary. I had no idea what "DO IT YOURSELF" meant... did it mean walk in like I own the place and just know what to do or did it mean there would be a friendly person there who could give me a quick rundown on what I was supposed to do. It was obvious I was new to this by my clueless texts (which I will include). When I asked what I should wear, the pretty obvious response should have been, "it doesn't matter since you'll be changing into our PJs when you get here," not, "something comfortable." It really isn't obvious what to do when you get there so a few sentences of instruction could go a long way toward making first timers more comfortable.

Marissa was wonderful to work with, she was very quick to understand my ideas for a bridal hairstyle and was great on communicating different approaches to achieve the look.
