I started seeing him when he wasn't in my insurance network (also not one to like overpaying), because I was in such severe pain from a gym injury, and the endless sessions I have with another chiropractor were not getting me any relief. I'm a strong believer that energy transcends through touch , and he is a natural healer. Yes he is a doctor, he knows the human anatomy , he has the latest techniques , he has a lovely office .... but what's much harder to find in a healthcare provider is a genuine desire to maKe people feel better. He is so attentive. He will try 85 ways to make you feel better , and if it doesn't work he will try the 86th with no loss of enthusiasm. His true greatness is in his humble demeanor. Some chiropractors will act like it's beneath them to massage their patients , but Sunil's ego comes second to doing whatever will help the patient. The pain was so intense, immobilizing, plus normal OTC pain killers did very little, and there was no position that offered relief. In the past after "over doing" it a little rest I was good to go. After four days of taking it easy it was worse. On recommendation of someone with more chronic back pain I called Center for Musculoskeletal Care and was able to get a appointment to be evaluated by Dr Pys. The evaluation was thorough and used non-invasive technology to get a precise map of issues with my back/spine. The technology also clearly tracks the efficacy of the treatment(s). The practice is a wife / husband team who are as friendly as they are professional. They immediately began a treatment plan (with some homework) to target my issues. I felt some relief on the first visit but with each successive visit (and being "somewhat" diligent with my homework ) I was back to normal very quick. I plan to schedule more sporadic appointments for preventative maintenance as this makes sense to me to track condition and tune-up as needed. Hopefully this keeps my back pain behind me as it were! This occurred every single time I visited and it got to the point where I asked if this was how they treated all of their patients because I do not believe they could be in business if so. I am 30 years old and on my most recent (and last visit) I was essentially yelled at and told that I am no longer welcome unless I schedule twice a week. I was told to not take it "personally" and opted to walk out of the office as I was being yelled at because there's zero reason I should be subjected to this type of behavior as their client. I did decide to freshen my review: Kathleen, I won't remove or soften my review. After talking with a couple of professionals at the time, I'll revise it down. I was extremely pissed at and disappointed with AWC. Several years have NOT changed my opinion. I believed treatment would be structured around what I needed to help with lumbar and cervical pain. As I recall, chiropractic manipulation sometimes took about a minute to adjust my neck, with NOTHING done to my back. The rolling table session was perhaps five minutes long (it felt great, but insurance covered only five minutes), and electrical stimulation was another five minutes. I had enrolled because I was in pain and expected a comprehensive treatment program. After about five to seven weeks, my back felt worse, and my neck became more sensitive after the adjustments. My impression then and my opinion today is that Align offers a "treatment" program for patients who rely solely on insurance. Simply, Align checks your insurance to see what it'll cover, then provides ONLY that, seemingly regardless of the ACTUAL BENEFIT. I received a minute of chiropractic care, five minutes on a wonderful rolling bed, and about five minutes of stim treatment. I often walked out in under 20 minutes. I realized my treatment seemed like a scam. It appeared I was being moved through a series of "billable only" services rather than receiving viable, meaningful care. Those considering AWC who need to rely solely on their insurance should check THOROUGHLY, understand what you'll receive, and determine its actual clinical value. "Is the amount of treatment I'll get, based on what my insurance will pay for, actually going to be clinically beneficial?" I've considered obtaining my billing and insurance records and pursuing the matter formally with my former insurer and, if appropriate, the relevant Illinois regulatory authorities. In particular, I would want it examined whether the billed services, their duration, and the treatment actually provided were at all... clinically appropriate and accurately represented. Buyer beware.

I've been suffering with back pain and sciatic pain for the better part of two years. I lived in…read morecomplete agony every day. And every day, I could feel it getting worse. I had to have a microdiscectomy in order to remove some bulging disc from my spine. Not more than two weeks afterward, all my pain had returned and was once more getting worse. I started just sending out some emails to any place that said they did back PT as well as deep-tissue massage and chiropractic work. Dr. Lauren Schneider was the first one to get back to me with a phone call. I liked her right off the bat. She said that she wanted to try a program of PT and some chiropractic work that would either work or not work. She just wanted four weeks to see how it went. She further stated that if she didn't get the expected results, she would turn me loose to seek relief elsewhere. With that in mind, I decided to give it shot and boy am I glad I did! Not only did Dr. Schneider listen to me quote websites and my pitiful online research, she used what I'd read to help me understand what she wanted to do. She was very patient with me, listened to all of my questions and gave me more information than I thought was possible. She humored me by letting me email her a pre-visit "pain log" so that she could know what my day-to-day was like and then discuss what I was going through. This was a very wonderful way for the two of us to be on the same page with each visit. She's tough. Don't mistake her for a pushover. Very early on, I came in several times complaining of muscle soreness due to the PT she had me doing throughout the days and she said "I don't care. We can deal with muscle soreness. Keep doing your PT." At first, I thought this was a very callous response, but I thought to myself "Four weeks. She asked for four weeks, so do your PT." Within two weeks, there was noticeable improvement in my sciatic pain as well as back pain. With the PT she had me doing, the once/week chiropractic adjustments, and the deep tissue massage every other week, I feel like we've almost gotten this taken care of. Laura, who is her massage therapist, is of the same caliber as Dr. Schneider. She has great hands, superb sense of pressure, and also listens just as well as Dr. S. You're definitely in good hands with Laura. I'm so glad I gave these two a shot. After my surgery, and during a follow-up with my surgeon, I reported to him that my pain was back as bad as ever and getting worse. He brought me to tears with his cold, callous responses. I thought that I was going to have to live in pain for the rest of my life. Dr. Schneider & Laura of North Shore Natural Medicine have really changed my day-to-day quality of life and I am eternally grateful for their efforts, patience, and willingness to work with me.
