I have visited this store several times and have always enjoyed browsing their selection. While it can be uncomfortable to feel watched as you shop, I simply continue with my visit and ask for assistance if needed. The store offers excellent products and is kept very clean. On one occasion, I mentioned that the entrance had an unpleasant odor like body odor it hits you in the face when you open the door the next time, I did come in the smell was not there. Today, I called the store to schedule a Hydrotherapy appointment. I spoke with a gentleman who informed me that Amy's available slots for these appointments are at 1:00-2:00 PM or 2:30 PM. I explained that these times wouldn't work for me and asked if there were other options. He mentioned that Amy might be flexible with her schedule. I then checked my calendar to see if I could accommodate one of the regular times, as he also mentioned there were available slots in August. He then asked what time would work for me, and I replied with 5 PM. He immediately responded, "Blah, I don't think Amy will do that," cutting me off before I could finish. I was about to suggest 5 PM this week or 12:30 PM next Monday if that was possible, but I never got the chance. So, I said, "Um, okay, never mind." He responded, "No, Jessica, what is it? Well, what is it?" I told him I would find another place for the treatment. He said something I couldn't hear, and I ended the call by telling him his response was rude before hanging up. I already felt uncomfortable discussing this appointment with a man, and his rudeness made it even worse. Hydrotherapy involves being partially exposed, with only a blanket covering you, so it's crucial for me to feel comfortable with the staff and the environment. wow, after looking in Alamogordo, Ruidoso, Roswell and Artesia I arrived at Healthy Choice in Roswell NM. I wish I had pictures of the marvelous rows of supplements and herbs. we were going to the caverns the next day and I was desperate for something for dizziness. on top of that I am allergic to SOOO many things but the gentleman was excellent at helping me read labels and find what I needed. thanks to his help I was able to sleep without the room spinning and enjoy the hours at the caverns. that is the place to go if your not finding what you need lsewhere. read more

Healthy Choices truly has some of the greatest quality products around. From the feminine products, to vitamins, to baby / toddler needs, essential oils, frozen foods, healthy snacks, the non-dairy milk... everything is reasonably priced and the staff there is always so very friendly. I used to need to order a half case of the Ripple milk when my baby daughter first started transitioning to bottle feeding and they were always so very accommodating with not only placing the order, but always keeping me informed for when to pick up shipment. I also bought a hand lotion there for severely cracked skin and it is a very satisfying product that aids me with the desert dryness. And they also offer the Bee Mans local honey here and I am not being exaggerative when I say the local Bee Mans honey is literally the BEST honey I have ever tasted and sooooo worth the extra money, especially since I'd have to use more of the commercial honey to get the same sweetness as one drop of the local honey. So really end up saving money by needing to use less of the local product to achieve an even better taste than would have by using excess of the commercial honey! read more

I can't believe this place exists let alone survives in Carlsbad! They have your typical health food supplements, pills, powders, oils, essences, and such that I wouldn't really be into, but surprisingly the store is much more diverse than that. A lot of their stuff is gluten free, including a whole fridge full of gluten free frozen things like pizza and pasta and dumplings and stuff, but I'm also not into GF. What I was really amazed by was the amount of stuff that I have been missing from living in a larger city and having access to a Whole Foods or a Trader Joe's. They sell Lundberg rice and Lundberg rice chips, which I love because they are delicious but I also love the company. Some classmates of mine in CA visited their farm and saw that Lundberg's farm performs a lot of their operations as sustainably as possible, such as using renewable energy. I love to support them. More products I was excited about: Lifeway Kefir, which is a type of probiotic yogurt, and they have it in more flavors than Wal-Mart carries. Albertsons doesn't even stock kefir. More probiotics include an organic raw milk cheddar and kombucha in the cold drink area. Arrowhead Mills flours - this company is also known for their sustainable practices and their dedication to human health, and their wheat is stone ground instead of going through the industrial machine that most flours of the grocery store do. Sunflower seed butter and almond butter! I thought only Trader Joes has a sunflower seed butter! Skincare, haircare, and cosmetics (makeup, nail polish) - lotions, aloe vera, creams, shampoos, conditioners, etc, many of which are organic and are free of harmful chemicals like phthalates and parabens Natural goat milk soap made right here in NM. Short grain white sushi rice -- So Wal-Mart has Kokuho rose, I think. Albertsons only has Nishiki brown and some generic "medium grain" rices, but I couldn't find short grain anywhere in Albertsons. The one here at Healthy Choices is organic and USA grown. There is also a small cooler that looks like the one people normally put ice cream novelties in at a convenience store, but its filled with a few healthier meat choices like nitrate free hot dogs. Finally, I was so excited to find the brand Alo aloe drinks. I discovered these in Hawaii and couldn't even find them sold in Northern California, even though the back of them said they were made in San Francisco! I am going to be shopping here a lot more! The staff is super friendly and will even order things for you if they don't have them. I only wish I had gone in earlier. read more

This place is cute and awesome! They carry a good selection of organic/gf/vegan/vegetarian options ranging from food, health care, home care, vitamins, make-up and more. In addition, a wide variety of gluten-free and vegetarian items. It is surprising to find a place like this in Carlsbad. The staff is really knowledgeable and will take the time to help you find what you need. Somethings can be found cheaper online but I like spending a few extra dollars to support a small company. They have a wide variety of vitamins and supplements as well as a lot of food choices. There is a small refrigerated section with eggs and drinks. They have a large freezer section with frozen meats and prepared foods. It is fun just to browse and see things you would never see at a typical grocery store. If they don't carry something, they will be happy to find someone to order it from. read more
